Seller: pro_clock (2.662) 100%, Location: Congleton, Cheshire, Ships to: Europe & many other countries, Item: 163170542306 Hi There Before bidding on, or buying any item from me, please check my feedback and bid/buy with the utmost confidence. If you buy this clock from me, you will receive a C/D with a 100 photos of the work I have carried out on the movement and the case, along with a write up of the work seen in the photos. Some of these pictures can be seen in this listing. I take great pride in my work, which I hope can be seen in the finished product. On offer here is a lovely and rare in this condition Ansonia kitchen/mantle clock with an alarm. The model name for this clock is Joslyn and it was made in 1901. In the States these clocks are called gingerbread clocks, because of their shape. This clock has been fully and extensively, serviced and cleaned by myself. The case to this clock, which I think is solid oak, was in very poor condition and I spent over 15 hours to bring it back to its former glory. The movement was in a very dirty state, but once cleaned up it was in very good condition. I have cleaned and serviced the movement to what I hope you think is a high standard while still trying to keep the character of the clock. The clock is an eight day and strikes on the half hour and counts the hours at 12. Eight day clocks should be wound every seven days. This clock also has an alarm which can be set up to twelve hours ahead. I will enclose on the C/D instructions on how to set and use it. Be warned, it is very loud. If it goes off while you have guests, it will have them running into the street thinking there is a fire ;-) The dark oak case dimensions are 14 ¼” wide by 22 ¼” high by 5” deep. The face diameter is around 6”. The clock dates to 1901 and for a clock well over a hundred years old and because of the service it has undergone, it now runs and strikes very well and looks great cosmetically. Please do bear in mind that this is an old clock and therefore although in very good condition for its age, there are some imperfections related to this. As I have said, the case is in very good condition and shows very little sign of wear considering how old it is, but it will have some small marks which will be related to its age. These are very minor. The door tablet glass is original and in good condition but is a little faded in places. This is normal for a clock this age. I had to replace the old paper clock face with a new one as it was in poor condition. This clock comes with an old key, but I cannot be sure if it is its original key. As with all my clocks, the buyer will receive my own care sheets so that you will get the most out of the clock. Covering four sheets of A4, these pages cover everything from winding up the clock and adjusting the time, to when to have it serviced. You will receive a C/D with a write up and a 100 photos showing all the work I have done on the movement and case. The care sheets will be on the C/D. If you require them printing, please let me know. Please note the following on postage:- I really don’t want to post this clock because of its age and the possible rough handling while in the postal system. If you can’t pick it up or have it delivered by me then I will post it and it will be packed to the best of my ability, but I cannot offer any guarantee. I will refund the cost of the clock once returned to me. I offer a delivery and setup service to anywhere in the UK. If you pay full price for this clock the delivery is included up to a hundred miles from Congleton. If you live further than that, the added cost for delivery is 0.30 per mile return, over the 200 miles. So the cost of delivery and setup, if you lived 150 miles from me would be £30. I will also give you a twelve month guarantee. You will see the clock running and ask any questions you might have. Remember If you do decide to pick up the clock from me or have it delivered and setup by myself I will give you a twelve month guarantee. Please have a good look at the photos before buying and email any questions you might have. Finally, just some personal thoughts on these old clocks. Back in the day... Clocks weren't just a decoration; families centred their lives on the time they displayed. As a repairer, each one is defiantly different and has a personality. When you think of what the world has been through since these clocks were made, my mind just boggles. Wars, natural disasters and the changing face of technology. Millions upon millions of lives born and lost, along with all their experiences. How many children learnt to tell the time using them? How many owners have these clock had? How many times have they been handed down after the owner has passed away? If only they could talk! I am passionate and obsessed about these old clocks and want to see them being passed down for future generations. While working on these old clocks I sometime come across a date and signature of a clock maker who has worked on it many years ago. For the last few years I have signed and dated all the movements I work on. This mark will only ever be found if a clockmaker in the future works on it. Condition: This clock has been cleaned, serviced and repaired by myself. Both the movement and case have had a great deal of work carried out and is now in very good condition, but do bare in mind that its not a new clock at around a 117 years old. Please read the listing in full, look at the photos and email any questions you may have. Thank you.., Age: Antique, Post-1900, Material: Oak, Type: Victorian Mantel clock, Features: 8-Day, Sub-Type: Mantel Clock, Clock Type: Mantel/Kitchen Clock, Style/ Origin/ Theme: American
