This 43rd cover depicts the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Midway on June 4, 1942. This battle was fought on and near Midway atoll and represented the height of Japan’s Pacific Ocean war. Admiral Yamamoto, mastermind of the Pearl Harbor attack, suggested an assault on Midway. Before this, Japan possessed naval superiority over the US. After Midway, they were equals. The cover is dual cancelled and the red cancellation is from Majuro proper on June 4, 1992, 50 years after the battle. The cover bears four different 50 cent Battle of Midway 1942 stamps. The creator of the cover is also a member of the American Philatelic Society. This is a beautiful and unique cover to own and one of a limited edition.
