WWI AEF 1917-1919 Army Marine Ephemera Special Duty Pass Pay Book Nantes France

These are from an American soldier Hugh Flemming.  Small folded up scraps of paper that were tucked away and kept all these decades.

• A poem dated June 2, 1917 for a Company M banquet in Nantes France .  This paper actually has the United States of America seal as a watermark!   The poem mentions speaking French, doughboys , orders not to drink .  One line refers to an officer who "...to get into tanks is now his one aim ."
• A Marine Corps Special Duty Pass for Cpl Fleming at Co. M Army Headquarters, U.S. Marine Guard in Nantes France.  He was authorized to be absent from his command on duty looking for an escaped prisoner .  Signed by an officer in the USMC.  This paper is adhered to the pay booklet cover and has tears.
• Soldier's Individual Pay Book for members of the A.E.F. (American Expeditionary Force).  This shows Mr. Flemming started as a Private, and was appointed as a Corporal.  
• "The Welcome Home Celebration" invitation card in honor of the young men who served in "The World War" , September 1919, New Jersey,  6-1/2" x 4-1/8"
• Some form of information or advertisement paper from France 1918-1919.  It is written in French, and mentions something about in times of war.
• A poem called National Guard by Roland Andrews
• A torn out cartoon contrasting dancing in the time of war vs when the boys come home.  Mr. Flemming artistically wrote his name next to it.
• Mr. Flemming being designated as a census enumerator in December of 1919.  That was the 14th census of the USA.
• "Heroes" poem by Arthur Guiterman - adhered to pay book cover
