Art Deco style paste and enamel brooch, Ciner, USA, 1990s Costume Jewelry.
A large and dynamic brooch in high Art Deco style from Ciner, New York. Although made from base metal, enamel and paste, it echoes the wonderful designs of Cartier and Van Cleet and Arpels in its wishful, striking style, reflecting the magnificence and style of that period. The Ciner Manufacturing Co. was founded in 1892, initially creating fine jewellery, subsequently turning to costume jewellery, for which they are now so well known. Creating highly ‘real’ looking jewellery in the 1930s through to the 1950s, they are still manufacturing today. Many stylish celebrities, including the Duchess of Windsor, Jackie Onassis to name a few, have worn their designs, the 1960s to 1990s seeing a particularly prolific style.
