 Iyik (drop spindle) is a traditional Kyrgyz tool for hand spinning yarn and one of the oldest technology of yarn hand manufacturing. In ancient times, there were craftsmen who made His stalk from strongly dried willow. The round head is made of stone, heavy metal or ceramic. At the tip of the stem above the head, a hole is made for a straw hook. 

The spindle is made by modern craftsmen, according to the sketch of an old spindle and for durability, it is made of walnut wood, the head is carved from local rock stones, and instead of straw, a strong metal stake is used. 

Before starting work, it is necessary to make wool ushmok for spinning, it is wound separately with a finger-thick size. 

Then the wool clings to the hook, the spindle is given a rotation, it spins vertically, suspended on a thread, at the same time the wool is pulled out, which is twisted into a thread. When the size of the twisted thread reaches more than a fist or the rotation of Iyik begins to be difficult it is removed from the spindle. 

But in order for the thread to turn out to be of high quality, two parts of the previously twisted thread are connected, for this, it is necessary to twist the first part of the thread forward, the second back, and back respectively. Then the two parts of the thread are joined together and the finished yarn is obtained for the manufacture of various kinds of products. 

The ability to use a spindle is highly valued among craftswomen, earlier all mothers tried to teach their daughters this craft, when a girl got married, the first thing in her husband's house, she spun yarn not from wool, but from cotton, thus her abilities and her mother's upbringing were evaluated. Now, this tradition has not been adhered to, but our generation is striving to try to renew the forgotten traditions and not forget our roots.

We are based in Kyrgyzstan which is called the heart of Central Asia. All our products are partly made by handcrafters who are from rural areas of Kyrgyzstan. Custom shyrdaks for which you requested PERSONALIZATION we need 35 days for production.

Transit times with postal service vary depending on postal operational condition and weather conditions. Processing time: 2 business days. Note that we do not ship on the weekend or during holidays.

Customs and import taxes

US buyers: There are no import taxes or duties.

Returns

30 DAY RETURNS PAID BY BUYER. All shipping charges to be paid by buyer. We do not refund shipping charges. 

Subject to the following conditions, we will issue refunds on products returned in their original packaging and undamaged if received within 30 days from the date of purchase.

Please return the product in its original, unused condition (including all original packaging and tags) within 30 days for a full refund.

To make a return, you must obtain a return authorization number (RA#) by contacting us at via eBay Messages. You will be notified by email to your registered email address on eBay and to eBay Messages within 48 hours with your RA#.

Upon receiving your return, the item will be reviewed by our Quality Assurance department. Please note that items showing signs of wear or those that have been engraved, altered, resized, or damaged in any way cannot be accepted for return. Returns with no Return Authorization Number, and packages that are improperly packaged or uninsured will be refused receipt.
