Chinese black and gilt lacquered sarcophagus shaped painted box on raised support . Although this is similar to Antique items that i sell it is not itself an antique. It has an age to it and is made using the same methods as have been used traditionally for centurys. The box is made to its shape with raised shapes of people and building these are then painted in slightly different ways by the artist. I have cleaned and applied a new coat of lacquer to this box so as to show more clearly the illistrations. i believe i have done this in a sensitive manner. Measuring 46 x 30 x 13 cm.
