Offering up for auction a fine hand painted miniature of a lovely woman in a beautiful gown. The painting retains it original period gilt gesso frame and the painting has a red velvet border. The frame has a piece of gesso missing at the base and the velvet lining has some wear. The miniature is signed by the artist somewhat illegibly.  The back has a label "Countess (?). Frame is 5" by 3 3/8" and is backed with old book paper. The image is approximately 2 3/4 H by 2 1/4" W.  Painting has an square decorative brass or bronze piece around the painting as an inner frame. This is a very well executed piece by a skilled artist. You won't be disappointed. I recently acquired a small collection of miniature painting I will be listing in the near future so be sure to check my other auctions. Thanks.
