This is a Large and heavy solid sterling silver box (used for makeup, biscuits, cookies, etc.). Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York.  A cube measuring 6 1/8" each of its straight sides. The cover is removable with a "cookie jar like handle on top." It was too heavy to weigh all together. The lid weighs 9.8 oz alone and I am approximating the each of the other sides and silver solder joints at about 8.5 oz. Total Weight approximately: 54 ounces.  Hallmark includes a maker's mark of 25416, and it was made in the late 1960's. We grew up calling this a "cookie jar" because of the unique lid and handle on the top of this box. My father had this made and gave it to my mother for a wedding anniversary present. She kept it in her powder room to hold cotton balls and other makeup accessories. My father was one of the founders of a very famous hotel on the Strip in Las Vegas, NV. and I will be glad to share this information with the winner of the bid.
