Very Rare Elegant Solid Sterling Silver Classic Car Posy Vase Holder Hm 1926
EXTREMELY RARE SOLID STERLING CAR POSY HOLDER/VASE – FOR THE LUXURY CLASSIC CAR - ROLLS ROYCE/BENTLEY - ADJUSTABLE - GEORGE V ERA - J E LTD - HALLMARKED LONDON 1926 – HIGH QUALITY - HIGHLY COLLECTABLE
On offer is this extremely rare, elegant luxury classic car adjustable posy holder/vase. It dates from the early Art Deco era, during the reign of George V, hallmarked for London 1926, by maker J E Ltd, who we have not been able to identify.
HALLMARKS: "J E LTD" for the maker; the lion passant for sterling silver; the Leopard's Head for the London Assay Office; the letter "l" for 1926. There are further sets of partial hallmarks on the plate that holds the adjustable arm for the vase and its components.
APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS/WEIGHT: It is 15cm in length and 6.5cm in diameter across the top. It weighs just over 70g.
CONDITION: Overall it is in good condition, especially considering it is almost 100 years old, just the usual signs of wear commensurate with age and use common to silver. The only point to note is that there is a very, very small thin split of about 2cm in length on one of the angular ribs of the body. This is clearly where the silver has just worn because of the shape of the piece. It is so thin it does not show on the photos. A silversmith could remedy this small issue easily and has been reflected in the price. Any dark patches, etc are reflections or bits of age related patina.
If you are lucky enough to own a Silver Shadow or similar from this era, you will not want to miss this! Nobody else will have anything like it!
