Seller: timerunner56 (960) 100%, Location: Bournemouth, Dorset, Ships to: GB & many other countries, Item: 293267196340 Very Nice French Gilt Metal 8 Day Mantle Clock With FigureWell made French 8 day mantle clock in a nice gilt metal case with a male figure in period dress. The figure appears to be a 18th/19th century farmer holding a shepherd's crook in one hand and a farming implement (plough head?) in the other. The case is in very nice condition and the gilding is good. Please view photos as it forms part of the description. This 8 day bell striking movement with count wheel escapement is there. The pendulum is missing but the bell is present. The enamel dial is mainly good but has some fine hairline cracks and nicely shaped hands, it also has names on it which are partially rubbed away 'Fougeres'?. When the hands are manually rotated it strikes well. The movement is dirty but not running or rusty. I do think however with a clean and service it will work well. Good original french clock needing a full restoration including service and clean.
