A wire wound variable resistor from 0 to 50 Ohms.  Tested with a meter and seems to be working well.  Label says 2.5 amp handling and 50 Ohms.  The case is in good condition with no dings, weight is just a little over 3 kilos.  Size is 17 x 23 cm and about 14 cm high. The binding posts are intact and working.  Bought for a project, but not used. This is made by Claude Lyon’s now part of the Allendale Group.  Their products are still listed.  The closest that I can find for this on line costs £115.00 plus vat.  It has a lesser amperage rating though.   I have tested the resistance with a meter and it ranges from roughly 2 Ohms to 50 Ohms.  Presumably 2 ohms is the resistance of my cables.
