Aging is the result of oxidative stress in which the production of free radicals is out of balance with the more protective antioxidants. And the more oxidative stress we have the quicker we age. It damages our cells and shortens telomeres. Telomeres are the repetitive DNA at the ends of our chromosomes which protect the end of the chromosome from deterioration.  When these shorten, we age more quickly and are vulnerable to looking older than what we are.

Helps You Look Younger For Longer

Wrinkles are creases or ridges in your skin that appear most often due to the natural aging process which causes skin to be drier, thinner, and less elastic. They appear as a result of repeated facial expressions, sun damage, dehydration, and as a side effect of certain meds. Your skin is the fingerprint of what is going on inside your body, and all skin conditions and premature ageing are the manifestations of your body's internal needs, including its nutritional needs. Many people don't understand the connection between nutrition and aging signs. While billions of dollars are being spent on topical treatments to hide the appearance of wrinkles, the best way to avoid furrowed skin is to provide nutrients to heal and protect from within.

Wrinkles, a natural part of aging, are most prominent on sun-exposed skin, such as the face, neck, hands and forearms. Although genetics mainly determine skin structure and texture, sun exposure is a major cause of wrinkles, especially for fair-skinned people. Other factors, such as pollutants and poor diet choices, also contribute to wrinkling.

Wrinkles are caused by a combination of factors some you can control, others you can't:

Age. As you get older, your skin naturally becomes less elastic and more fragile. Decreased production of natural oils dries your skin and makes it appear more wrinkled.

Fat in the deeper layers of your skin diminishes. This causes loose, saggy skin and more-pronounced lines and crevices.

Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. Ultraviolet radiation, which speeds the natural aging process, is the primary cause of early wrinkling. Exposure to UV light breaks down your skin's connective tissue collagen and elastin fibers, which lie in the deeper layer of skin (dermis).

Without the supportive connective tissue, your skin loses strength and flexibility. Skin then begins to sag and wrinkle prematurely.

Repeated facial expressions. Facial movements and expressions, such as squinting or smiling, lead to fine lines and wrinkles. Each time you use a facial muscle, a groove forms beneath the surface of the skin. And as skin ages, it loses its flexibility and is no longer able to spring back in place. These grooves then become permanent features on your face.

Most think of wrinkles and skin blemishes as being caused by aging. However, time alone has no effect on skin. People of the same age do not all have identically wrinkled skin. The exposure of skin to sunlight increases free-radical damage and the cross-linking of skin proteins accumulated over time. It's a product of the rate of reactions (intensity) and length of time of exposure. Antioxidant deficiency also increases the rate of wrinkling and blemishes. So wrinkles are modifications of the skin surface occurring with age and exposure. The severity of these changes in an individual depends on genetic tendency, skin photo-type, and exposure to environmental factors. Wrinkles arise because of a modification in dermis structure (less collagen versus younger skin) and because of a decrease in the amount of water held by the epidermis, leading to indentations on the surface.

Skin firmness and the size and number of wrinkles are strongly associated with the perception of age. Hereditary factors only account for approximately 3% of aging, and the skin is especially vulnerable to aging damage from both endogenous and exogenous factors. Rapid cell production and turnover requires consistent and sufficient nutrients for healthy growth and function. Environmental factors like toxins, free radicals, humidity, and temperature can damage the structure and function of skin thus affecting its barrier properties. Internal factors like stress, malnourishment, and inflammation can impair the skins growth, maintenance, and ability to combat external factors. The formation of wrinkles results from impaired barrier function, loss of cells, and reduction of underlying extracellular matrix (ECM). A major mechanism of skin aging is the loss or damage of ECM proteins through decreased production or increased damage from endogenous and exogenous sources.(Aging Cell. 2015;14(1):67-77). ECM proteins require disulfide bonds for structural adhesion and formation and require sulfur-containing amino acids (SAA) for protein synthesis ( J Biol Chem. 1987;262(13):6159-6164., Science. 2013;341(6141):74-76). Degradation of the ECM is a major contributor to the aging process (Clin Plast Surg. 2012;39(1):1-8.)

Beauty is Under Constant Attack

There are many threats to healthy complexion. Wind, sunlight, pollution, diet, aging, and stress, just to name a few. Over time, all of these threats cause damage that takes a toll on the very structure of hair, skin, and nails. While topical treatments have their place, it is vital that you have nourishment from within to build the strength of collagen. For instance, the aging process considerably alters both the structure and the mechanical properties of skin. Aged skin is less elastic than younger skin. Fine lines and wrinkles are characteristic signs of age, and especially photo-aged skin. Wrinkle formation is due to the decrease of elasticity, photo-aging and free radical attack on the skin. But building the strength of collagen can stop the process and even reverse it with the right nutrients.

The process of aging is most often associated with its visible effects on the skin. The skin mirrors the aging process both physiologically and socially. Endogenously, the process of aging and its effects on the skin are associated with age-related gene expression, inflammation, hormone levels, and lack of proper nutrition. Exogenously, aging increases exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, toxins, and reactive oxygen species (ROS). The skin is affected by both intrinsic and extrinsic factors of aging and manifests largely through the formation of wrinkles, mottled pigmentation, and erythema that can form as a result of both endogenous and exogenous factors. Overactive inflammatory responses and increased inflammation can damage dermal cells and degrade structural matrices, leading to signs of aging (Ageing Res Rev. 2008;7(2):83-105.)

Your skin is your bodys largest organ and forms a protective barrier to the outside world. Cosmetic creams, lotions and eye serums work on the very top layer of skin - the epidermis. Your skin´s appearance reflects the life you live and the skincare routines you practice. But there is much more to your skin than what you see. The skins overall quality, moisture retaining ability and resilience are determined in the deeper, structural layer - the dermis - where the collagen, elastin and moisture retaining elements are found. It´s here that Perfectol Wrinkle Eraser capsules work - where creams cannot - to help support and protect the skin´s vital building blocks for long-term reduction and prevention of the signs of ageing.

Signs of skin ageing begin on the inside long before they are visible on the surface. Whether you are in your 30s, 40s, 50s or beyond, A modern busy lifestyle may means your skin needs extra support. To help it look its best you need to care for it from the inside where traditional creams and lotions cannot reach. Perfectol works from within to help you look younger for longer by enhancing the benefits of your regular skincare routine. Perfectol anti ageing capsules work from within to help improve the quality and appearance of the skin inside and out - top to toe.  Daily use of Perfectol skincare capsules have been shown to increase dermal density, help improve skin quality and moisture balance, as well as help to maintain skin radiance and make skin on face and body feel softer, smoother and more supple. Powerfully formulated to increase cellular balance and promote younger looking skin, this formula helps skin look younger by enhancing skin smoothness, while diminishing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and other visible signs of premature aging. Advanced Bio-Nutraceutical Complex

The visible signs of ageing, like loss of moisture and radiance, fine lines and wrinkles, are all symptoms of what is happening beneath the surface - in the skin´s dermal layer.

Dermatologists believe that up to 90% of skin ageing is caused by external factors, environment, lifestyle and UV damage. Stress, personal vices and UV light all produce free radicals, which are the skins main enemy. Free radicals attack the skin in a process known as oxidation. The body has its own antioxidant defence system that helps neutralize free radical damage. As we age, the efficiency of this system declines and our need for additional antioxidants increases.

Over time the skins essential supportive structure starts to break down. Collagen fibres bundle together, elastin begins to lose its spring and this causes fine lines and wrinkles to appear on the skins surface. The dermis gradually loses density and blood capillaries become visible as the skin becomes more transparent. The older we get and the more exposed our skin has been, the more we need extra help to keep our skin supple and smooth. It is well known in skincare that the molecular mechanism involved in facial aging is due to the changes in the collagen triple helix, as well as degradation of elastin peptides and the packing of the lipidic matrix of the skin.

Perfectol gives your skin the care it needs where it needs it most in the deep dermal layer where signs of ageing first appear.

This collagen-rich formula helps skin look younger by diminishing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and other visible signs of premature aging. Specifically formulated to support and restore skin hydration, tone and texture, this highly effective supplement is enriched with vitamin nutrients, minerals, antioxidants and advanced peptides to increase cellular balance and promote cell communication, enhancing skin smoothness and vitality and firms and tones skin to lessen the look of expression lines  The advanced formula helps soften, smooth, enhance skin tone, and reduce the look of fine lines and other visible signs of aging.  Smoothes and softens aging skin  Improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles  Rejuvenates and brightens skin tone

Optimum nutritional support for skin is of greater importance than the most expensive creams and moisturisers because the  benefits are delivered via the blood stream, at the deepest and most effective level. Perfectol Wrinkle Eraser nutrients work in synergy to help support the biochemical processes of skin metabolism and repair.

Perfectol capsules use a new innovative method to attain younger-looking skin. Safe natural ingredients are used to enhance your whole bodys complexion. Perfectol uses an oral method of reducing wrinkles and fine lines. It works from the inside out to improve facial wrinkles and elasticity and increases the production of procollagen formation for the whole body, not just on the face like topical products. Perfectol is an anti-aging strategy that prevents and repairs cutaneous photo aging. It provides your skin with a smoother, firmer, and a supple complexion.

Perfectol Anti Wrinkle Formula are a new vitamin supplement to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles from the inside out. Created after more than five years of clinical research by a team of scientists, dermatologists and nutritionists, the formula was tested in two clinical trials involving 272 women over a period of 14 weeks. The results showed smoother skin with a significant reduction in lines and wrinkles, especially deep-set crows feet. The formula can help stimulate younger, smoother skin from the inside. It stimulates collagen production and elastin while treating and repairing connective tissue to restore youth and firmness to the skin, reducing and preventing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by up to 34% in just 5 weeks.*

Treating Your Skin From The Inside Out

You also need to look internally after all, what is on the inside shows on the outside. Whether you have just turned 21 or aged closer to 60 on your next birthday, it is a good idea to prevent and repair the signs of ageing on your skin. Anti-ageing skin care is more than just what you put on your face; it is also what you put into your body. Perfectol helps repair, nourish and protect ageing skin by delivering a powerful combination of bio-active ingredients  directly  to the lower layer of the skin.

Provides the nutrients needed to support the production of strong healthy skin at the internal cellular level Want to know the secret to wrinkle free, healthy, clean and radiant skin. It's much more than just what we put on our face, but in our bodies. What you put into your body and how you nourish it contributes directly to how your skin looks on the outside. Beautiful wrinkle free skin takes more than just a cleanser or eye gel. Wrinkle free skin not only depends on external factors, internal factors are equally if not more important. Impurities and chemical reactions occur inside of our body. To get perfect skin, you need to treat yourself from the inside out. The most effective wrinkle treatment will be one that  helps you to build healthy skin from the inside out.

Youthful skin is firm because the muscle fibers underneath are short, thick and taut. But as we age, these fibers lengthen and loosen, causing skin to lose strength and elasticity. The aging process can be ruthless. It affects every part of your body, but is most noticeable on your face and around your eyes. With age, your skins production of collagen gradually reduces, causing deep wrinkles. These wrinkles appear most often in areas where the skin is most delicate, which is around your eyes. Wrinkles make you look older and distract from your best attributes. They say that your eyes are the window to your soul. Unfortunately, with crows feet, dark circles and sagging skin around your eyes most people do not notice your youthful twinkle. Those age lines steal the sparkle in your eyes and diminish your precious inner glow. Do not let the aging process take away from the beauty of your youth. Perfectol helps soften, smooth, enhance skin tone, and reduce the look of fine lines and other visible signs of aging.

While various factors influence skin aging (including stress and environmental pollutants), long-term sunlight exposure is a primary environmental accelerator .As you grow older, your face is the first area to exhibit the visible effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation, also known as photoaging, with the manifestation of fine lines, wrinkles, loose and dry skin, and discoloration. These unsightly changes reflect the deteriorating condition of the components that make up the inner layer of the skin, the dermis. This extracellular matrix is a combination of the fibrous proteins collagen and elastin, along with water-binding glycosaminoglycans. Together, these substances form a strong and resilient framework of connective tissue that gives the skin elasticity, strength, and compressibility ultimately supporting the appearance of youthful and vibrant skin. Ultraviolet rays from sunlight wreak havoc on the skin by generating the production of free radicals that break down the vital components of the extracellular matrix. Over time, this contributes to the tell-tale signs of photoaging.

Normal healthy skin has a nice epidermis with a smooth cornified, or outer, layer that acts as a good barrier to water and environmental injury. Skin color and tone is even and unblemished. Components such as collagen (which provides skin firmness), elastin (which supplies skin elasticity and rebound) and glycosaminoglycans or GAGs (which keep the skin hydrated) are all abundant. It is interesting to note that under a microscope a biopsy of a wrinkle exhibits no telltale signs that reveal it to be a wrinkle. So what causes the skin to look wrinkled? It is probably a multi-factorial process of intrinsic aging and extrinsic aging.

Intrinsic aging is the natural aging process that takes place over the years regardless of outside influences. After the age of 20, a person produces about 1 percent less collagen in the skin each year. As a result, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile with age. There is also diminished functioning of the sweat and oil glands, less elastin production, and less GAG formation. Wrinkle formation as a result of intrinsic aging is inevitable, but it will always be slight.

Extrinsic aging occurs in addition to intrinsic aging as a result of sun and environmental damage (tobacco use and exposure to pollution, for example). Extrinsic aging shows up as thickening of the cornified layer, changes such as lesions called actinic keratosis, skin ailments (including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, lentigo maligna melanoma), freckle and sun spot formation, and exaggerated loss of collagen, elastin, and GAGs. Alone or in concert, these processes give the skin the appearance of roughness, uneven tone, brown patches, thin skin and deep wrinkles.

Principles of Skin Ageing

The skin consists of two distinct layers, the epidermis or top layer and the dermis consisting of connective tissue and adnexal structures. The dermis is composed of different cell types, mainly fi broblasts and of fi brillar matrix proteins providing structural support, such as collagen bundles for strength and elastin network for elasticity. The extracellular matrix (ECM) is segregated from fi broblasts and plays a crucial role in the visual nature of the skin. Also located in the dermis are other structures referred to as adnexa: eccrine glands (sweat glands), hair follicles and sebaceous glands and sensory receptors.

Loss of dermal collagen and elastin and consequently wrinkle formation is the result of natural ageing. It can be accelerated by excessive exposure to sun and UV-irradiation. Elastase is the major enzyme responsible for elastin degradation. It exerts pro-oxidative and pro-inflammatory damage on connective tissue and is involved in the activation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), a type of collagenases leading to proteolytic collagen degradation. Therefore reducing elastase activity can improve and prolong the elasticity and youthful appearance of the skin. Type I collagen is the main component of the extracellular matrix performing a pivotal function for the structure of the dermis. Accordingly, MMP-1 and elastase are common biomarkers associated with skin ageing and wrinkle formation. They consequently represent potential targets for the evaluation of compounds included in cosmeceuticals for treating wrinkles, inhibiting MMP-1 and elastase activity or inducing collagen synthesis.

With age, the skin undergoes vast changes, becoming wrinkled and rigid, losing its firmness, elasticity, tone, texture, thickness, flexibility and moisture content. Skin aging is attributed to several changes. These include alterations in the dermal extracellular matrix (ECM) made up mainly by collagen (which provides strength and structure) and elastin (which provides elasticity and resilience) fibres. Collagen and elastin are secreted mostly by fibroblasts. Transforming growth factor  (TGF) is the primary stimulator of the collagen and elastin fiber formation and deposition, and plays a significant role in scar formation. Lysyl oxidase (LOX) is a key protein involved in the lysine-derived crosslinks of the ECM dermal proteins. Heat shock protein-47 (HSp-47) is a collagen-specific chaperone needed for the formation of the collagen triple helical structure. During aging, there is a reduction of elastin and collagen production by dermal fibroblasts, alterations in LOX, and breakdown of the collagen/elastin fibers forming the ECM by matrix metalloproteinases (MMp). These events, accelerate by inflammation and oxidative stress in photoaged skin, are controlled chiefly via the mitogen activated protein kinase (MApK) and NF-B/p65 signal transduction pathways.

What are antioxidants?

Consider antioxidants to be your bodys allies in the fight against free-radical damage. Your body can produce some antioxidants on its own, but they are mostly found in nature they are in fruits, vegetables, and even coffee. Antioxidants have been proven to repair the damage that free radicals cause, and that is why they are so essential to your skin and your overall health.

What role do antioxidants play in the ageing process?

Let us start by examining what happens as we age. If we think of our bodies as machines, we can simplify the effects of ageing into this: the breakdown of key processes and functions. Our metabolism slows over time, energy production declines, our organs break down, we have cognitive decline, we become less efficient, and we may even start to develop ailments that happen in the later stages of life. We know that free radicals play a significant role in this (including wrinkles and fine lines) and that antioxidants can help slow down these effects.

Free radicals are molecules that can cause damage to different components in cells, such as the DNA, proteins, outer barrier, and the matrix. Antioxidants are basically free radical fighters. Here is what is happening at the cellular level. Free radicals are unstable and highly reactive molecules that steal electrons from other sources, damaging cells in the process. Antioxidants essentially donate electrons to neutralize free radicals or stop them from forming in the first place. There is a delicate balance between free radicals and antioxidants that are naturally made in the skin. When that balance is lost too many free radicals, fewer available antioxidants (a natural part of aging) we experience something called oxidative stress, which plays a role in premature aging of the skin, hyperpigmentation, triggering inflammatory conditions like eczema and spots, as well as skin aging. That is where antioxidants in skin-care come in. The number one way to prevent free radical damage to our skin is to wear broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, which protects cells from the negative effects of UVA and UVB rays. But even if we wear enough sunscreen every day (which, let us face it, no one does), the sun is not the only source of free radicals we need to think about. Free radicals are created not only by UV radiation but also infrared radiation, pollutants, and other stressors.

What Are Peptides?

First, we need to start with the science: Peptides are fragments of proteins. On their own, peptides are made up of amino acids. When amino acids are combined in certain formations they create specific peptides (and there are hundreds of peptides), and when peptides are formed in a certain way, they make specific proteins. Proteins are the fundamental building blocks of skin. Without peptides, skin does not remain intact and the result is loss of firmness, appearance of wrinkles, texture changes, and skin that does not bounce back as it once did. What is so fascinating about peptides is that abundant research has clearly shown that each of them works in very specific ways to target an exact skin care need. They also teach skin to do what's required to help revitalize these building blocks, which can help revive aging skin. What is most important for you to keep in mind is that as special as peptides are, they need "friends" in the form of supporting ingredients to help address all the needs of skin. Any skin care formula worthy of your hard-earned dollars must include the specialized ingredients we talk about all the time such as antioxidants, skin-replenishing ingredients, and skin-restoring-ingredients (which includes peptides). Peptides can do a lot on their own, but they can't do it all alone.  When peptides are blended with antioxidants, skin-soothing ingredients, and skin-replenishing ingredients they can address multiple signs of aging and you will love the results!

That's why Perfectol was developed, a specially formulated blend of nutrients and herbs that can help you look your best. Each capsule contains 16 natural ingredients that can help you keep your skin wrinkle free. The formula transforms your skin from the inside-out for that perfect wrinkle clear complexion! The formula works from the inside-out to improve the health and appearance of your skin...so you look and feel your best again. The formula so well on the skin because by being swallowed, the nourishing actives can be absorbed into the bloodstream through the gut wall, and this means they can reach all of the skin from the inside.  We believe skin radiance comes from within. Aging is a natural process that daily bad habits can accelerate: Today's diet, due to our lifestyle, may often be less complete in providing the body, including the skin, with the nutrients it needs to stay healthy. Year after year our skin grows older and loses its refined texture and firmness, becoming increasingly wrinkled as changes take place in the skin's delicate textural network.

Despite what most people think... deep, dark circles under your eyes are not only caused by being tired or stressed.  Actually, the dark circles can also be caused by capillaries that leak blood close to the skin's surface. When this blood begins to oxidize, it turns a bluish red color, similar to an ugly bruise.  Since the skin under the eyes is very thin, this leads to the appearance of those embarrassing dark circles. These effects can make you look tired and ill, creates a hollow eye look and can cause you to look years older.... until now! Skin changes the moment we are born. Skin ages due to natural (intrinsic) and environmental (extrinsic) effects. Skin that was once taut, smooth and glowing slowly begins to change due to a variety of different factors. This inevitable aging process eventually leads to loss of skin elasticity, wrinkle development and a slowing in the production of collagen, a primary component of healthy skin. Perfectol  offers you smart skincare solutions that safely and effectively combat the challenges of weary skin. After years of scientific research and testing, Perfectol  a high-performance skincare line formulated with potent peptides, nourishing proteins and natural botanicals to give you back your youthful and healthy glow.

Aging causes the skin to undergo changes: Cells divide more slowly and the inner layer of skin starts to thin. The thinning skin is prone to injuries and damage.  The deeper layer of the skin, which provides the framework for the surface skin layers, loosens and unravels. Older skin sags and forms furrows.  Oil-secreting glands shrink, leaving the skin without a protective layer of oil. The skin's ability to stay moisturized then decreases, becoming dry and scaly.  Photoaging Exposure to sunlight is the most important cause of prematurely aging skin (a process called photoaging) and skin ailments.  Exposure to ultraviolet radiation from sunlight accounts for most of the symptoms of premature skin aging.  Prevention The most important preventive measure is limiting exposure to sunlight.  A healthy lifestyle, including a healthy diet and regular exercise, is the most important way to reduce the formation of wrinkles and blemishes As you age, your skin undergoes gradual changes: Cells divide more slowly and the inner layer of skin (the dermis) starts to thin. Fat cells beneath the dermis begin to shrink. In addition, the ability of the skin to repair itself decreases with age, so wounds heal more slowly. The thinning skin becomes prone to injuries and damage.  The deeper layer of the skin, which provides the support structure for the surface skin layers, loosens and unravels. Skin then loses its elasticity (ability to stretch and return to position). As a result, skin sags and forms furrows.  Glands that secrete oil shrink (atrophy). This leaves the skin without a protective layer of oil. The skin's ability to stay moisturized decreases, becoming dry and scaly.  Frown lines (between the eyebrows) and crow's feet (lines that spread from the corners of the eyes) develop because of repetitive muscle contractions during facial expressions.  Gravity causes skin and tissues to sag, leading to formation of jowls and drooping eyelids.

How does it get rid of dark circles and eye bags? As we age, dark circles under the eyes tend to get worse. Our skin loses collagen and becomes thinner and more transparent. Similarly, the fat pads under the eyes become thinner as our fat cells (adipocytes) atrophy, which allows the blood vessels to show more easily through the skin. Plus, as capillaries leak red blood cells, oxidation occurs, turning the blood from red to blue... in a process similar to bruising. How Does Hyaluronic Acid Work?

Hyaluronic Acid is the key for maintaining water substances in human skin. Due to aging, natural Hyaluronan concentration in the skin decreases at an alarmingly increasing rate over time. Accordingly, the skins ability to maintain moisture is weakened, and it gives the appearance of being dry and rough.  When Hyaluronic Acid is taken, it penetrates the dermis, combines with water, and promotes micro circulation and nutrient absorption. It forms an air permeable layer, to keep the skin moist and smooth. The result is a rapid skin rejuvenation, diminishing the appearance of wrinkles, crows feet and other cosmetic signs of age around the eyes caused by sun exposure, stress, and other common factors

Ingredients

These vitamins, minerals, herbs and antioxidants are crucial for the proper formation and function of skin cells, and are beneficial in supporting spots and blemishes, psoriasis, rosacea, and preventing sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles.

Amino Acids   Stimulate the formation of collagen and elastin to make skin stronger and younger-looking.

Vitamin A,C and E   Powerful antioxidants neutralise free radicals ensuring optimum skin health and youthful-looking skin every day. Vitamins C, A, & E. C & E are essential for collagen production. These fatty acids replenish the skin's intercellular matrix, preserving its appearance. In addition, all of them function as cell-communicating ingredients, working to "tell" the appropriate skin cells how to function in a healthier manner. They also help reduce inflammation, believed to be a key factor in how the skin ages. Vitamin E has shown to be effective in its role as free radical fighter in the skin against outside forces such as air pollution, and harmful UV light. Vitamin E helps decrease skin roughness, length of facial lines, and wrinkle depth. Vitamin A is a powerful antioxidant that can prevent certain both wrinkles and skin ailments by flushing out the free radicals that cause them. Consuming 2500 IU of Vitamin A daily will also support against spots and blemishes by reducing the production of excess oil in the skin.

Vitamin A. Vitamin A is an important nutrient needed to maintain, protect and repair skin. A deficiency of vitamin A can cause skin rashes and dry skin. Beta-carotene also plays an important role in the fight against wrinkles due to its antioxidant properties as well as its role as a precursor to vitamin A. Vitamin A acts as a powerful antioxidant, helping to promote younger-looking skin. Carotenoids and retinoids are both a form of vitamin A. Increasing your daily intake of this vitamin works to slow down the aging process. It helps to prevent fine lines and wrinkles from forming.  Vitamin A promotes healthy skin growth of new cells, reducing cellular damage. This vitamin will also spur the production of collagen to reduce skin sagging.  A firmer and more even skin tone is another result of taking this vitamin. It can lessen the appearance of pigmentation and age spots. You'll also notice less skin dryness and fewer rough patches.   Vitamin A can also balance oil production, helping with breakouts. It reduces inflammation and redness for a better complexion.

Our bodies convert beta carotene into vitamin A, which is vital for skin health. Beta-carotene is crucial for skin health.  It converts to Vitamin A, which is critically responsible for cell repair and growth. Research shows that this antioxidant makes skin more supple and flexible and reduces sun-related wrinkles. Vitamin A has multiple functions, such as increasing healthy cellular turnover (thus exfoliating the skin and improving age spots), repairing cellular structure of the skin, decreasing sebum production, and eliciting formation of collagen (hence, improved fine lines and wrinkles). Retinol is the term used for the entire vitamin A molecule. Retinol is a beneficial cell-communicating ingredient and an antioxidant. Simply put, it helps skin cells create better, healthier skin cells and increases the amount of skin-support substances. Retinol has been shown to increase the skin's collagen production and glycosaminoglycan content, resulting in firmer skin with an improved texture and enhanced barrier function. Although it is not the only ingredient to look for in an anti-aging product, it deserves strong consideration by anyone who wants to keep their skin in top shape through the years. Numerous scientific studies that Vitamin A maintain healthy skin, promote skin healing, fights spots and pimples, build new skin tissue, and prevents wrinkling. According to a review of research published in the journal Dermato-Endocrinology in 2012, vitamin A stimulates collagen production and elastic fibres in the skin (PMID: 23467476). Collagen is a protein thats essentially responsible for giving your skin firmness. The same review found that retinol has a positive effect on combating extrinsic ageing outside factors including pollution and chemicals and intrinsic ageing (inside factors) such as genetics or our hormones. In 2016, researchers at the University of Michigan found that four weeks of retinoic acid and retinol treatments changed the structure of the skin by increasing both epidermal thickness and collagen (PMID: 26578346). In other words, they helped plump up the skin. Facial image analysis also showed a significant reduction in wrinkles and fine lines after applying retinol for 12 weeks. A 2012 review by German dermatologists revealed that healthy volunteers taking vitamin A supplements, in the form of beta-carotene, over three months had a reduction in UV-induced erythema5  sun damaged skin especially when combined with vitamin E (PMID: 23467449). Facial image analysis also showed a significant reduction in wrinkles and fine lines after applying retinol for 12 weeks.

Vitamin A offer anti wrinkle support through two means: it protects against UV damage and slows signs of aging and it encourages healthy skin cell production. As we all know, vitamin A is an extremely potent antioxidant, that not only puts to rest the free radicals that break down collagen (your skins support structure) and contribute to fine lines and saggy skin, but it also lessens skins sensitivity to the sun, providing some natural protection against sun-induced redness and pigmentation.  Vitamin A also stimulates fibroblasts the cells responsible for developing tissue that keeps skin firm and healthy in the deep layers of your skin.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridxine HCI).  The eight B vitamins are necessary for nearly every process within the body. They help turn food into energy and affect the health of our nervous system, metabolism, organs, muscles, skin, and hair. They are also essential for cell growth, development, and overall functioning. As such, they offer serious benefits to skin health, since our skin is constantly regenerating. The healthier your skin, the faster it renews. Vitamin B deficiency can wreak havoc on your skin, causing spots, rashes, dry and flaky skin, cracked lips, and wrinkles. It can also make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, personal care products, and other potential aggressors, and can accordingly lead to redness and irritation. B Vitamins offer a myriad of skin health benefits, but two of the most significant are cell renewal and stress relief. B6 helps to regulate mood and sleep. Both stress and inadequate sleep raise inflammation in the body, reduce cell regeneration, and contribute to dryness all factors that lead to breakouts and premature aging. A 2018 study found that vitamin B could help the body produce healthy new skin cells. vitamin B will improve your skins texture and moisture retention. It reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles because it helps skin stay moist (wrinkles and lines are exaggerated with dry skin). The Vitamin B complex helps even out skin tone and reduce those dark spots that age us. Finally, vitamin B is a natural antioxidant, so it combats free radicals, those molecules responsible for aging and helps heal a damaged complexion. Vitamin B6 It is used to treat eczema, dandruff, spots and blemishes, hair loss, and dryness. It plays an extremely important role in the maintenance of healthy, glowing skin. It maintains the growth of tissues to ensure healthy cell turnover for a bright, radiant complexion. B6 is an important vitamin for those prone to spots as it helps to maintain the mucus secretion of the skin to prevent breakouts and dry skin. Vitamin B6 can even help to clear up pesky spots and revitalize the skin by promoting healthy cell turnover. Vitamin B6 deficiency can cause dry, cracked skin and lips, especially in the corners of the mouth, as well as blemish breakouts. Vitamin B6 offers both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It aids in skin repair and collagen production for healthier skin. Those with a B6 vitamin deficiency may show signs of skin rashes. This includes itching and irritation, and chapped lips. Taking this vitamin also helps balance hormones. It's no secret that unbalanced hormones are often responsible for unwanted skin changes.

Vitamin C.  You probably are all aware by now about the amazing benefits vitamin C. Most of us have usually heard about oral supplements, but recently it is been also taking the beauty world by storm due to its positive effects on skin rejuvenation. Studies have shown that vitamin C is extremely capable in boosting collagen production, protects against sun damage, brightens dark spots, fighting free radical damage, reducing signs of aging and offering overall skin repair. Vitamin C is inarguably one of the most important vitamins in the battle against wrinkles. Research has shown a direct link between low intakes of vitamin C and prevalence of a wrinkled appearance and dry skin. Vitamin C is known to support collagen production and protect against damage from UV radiation. It may also help with pigmentation problems and inflammatory skin conditions.  Vitamin C and vitamin E protect each other and are more effective when consumed together.

Vitamin C is an antioxidant. This means that it may reverse free radical-induced oxidative damage. Most research suggests that oxidative damage plays an important role in aging, including skin aging. This means that vitamin C supplements might improve skin health and slow the skin aging process. Everyone touts vitamin C for its abilities to ward off colds and flu, but this potent antioxidant may also improve skin's texture and appearance. Sometimes referred to as ascorbic acid, it stimulates collagen production that can, in turn, help reduce fine lines that may have been brought on by environmental stressors, like sun and heat exposure or pollution. Vitamin C is a strong antioxidant that binds and removes harmful free radicals from the skin, like those produced from exposure to ultraviolet radiation and environmental pollutants. All of these functions help prevent aging skin, including lightening brown spots, stimulating collagen, and protecting against UV damage. Vitamin C does wonders for keeping youthful-looking skin. It works against free radicals and is essential in the daily healing and repair of your skin. Vitamin C also decomposes melanin, thereby preventing dark age spots on your skin. It also triggers the production of collagen, which increases your skin's elasticity.  One of the most well-researched and beneficial vitamins you can apply topically is vitamin C. It has been shown to increase collagen production (including dermal collagen, which is significant for wrinkle reduction), reduce the appearance of skin discolorations, strengthen skin's barrier response, enhance skin's repair process, reduce inflammation, and help skin better withstand exposure to sunlight, whether protected by sunscreen or not. Antioxidant vitamins C destroy harmful free radicals (substances that damage body cells) that are formed from unprotected exposure to the sun. They also help in the production of collagen, a protein that strengthens skin cells and helps prevent premature aging of the skin.

Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol).  Vitamin D is considered the key nutrient for skin cell replacement and growth. The constant loss of cells on your skins surface must be offset naturally by an ongoing vitamin D dependent renewal process that takes place in specialized cells called keratinocytes. Keratinocytes account for about 95% of all cells in your epidermis. They possess two properties which make them extremely valuable the ability to actively divide, and the ability to differentiate. They are continuously providing new cells for replenishment of your skins surface.  Cell activity in the epidermis is responsible for the creation of an underlying structural framework for your skin to reinforce the delicate matrix of skin tissue. This helps your epidermis form a watertight barrier that locks in moisture and keeps your skin soft and supple.  This is where vitamin D comes in: rates of cell division and differentiation are triggered by growth factors and other molecules that are controlled by the presence of vitamin D.   If the skin is not provided with proper doses of vitamin D, your epidermal cells wont differentiate optimally. As a result, the outer layer of your skin may become thinner and more fragile. It begins to sag from lack of adequate support. Dryness and wrinkles set in as moisture is gradually lost to the outside.14 This is one of the main reasons why vitamin D is absolutely essential to the maintenance of healthy-looking skin.

Often called the sunshine vitamin, vitamin D plays an integral role in skin protection and rejuvenation.  Unfortunately, between the ages of 20-70 your skin loses about 75% of its ability to produce vitamin D3 (PMID: 15585788). Without adequate vitamin D3 in the skin, the skin will sag, become thin, wrinkled, fragile and unable to offer the protection and immunity that healthy skin should provide (PMID: 1646641). New research has shown that the application of vitamin D3 on the skin increases the expression of protective peptides that help repair the skin and protect it from prematurely aging (PMID: 16297179). Some studies have found that vitamin D can help treat skin conditions like dry skin, psoriasis, or eczema. Healthy levels of vitamin D have been demonstrated to prevent skin aging,. Skin aging can be demonstrated molecularly, by the shortening of telomeres, the caps of genetic material on the free ends of DNA strands. These telomeres shorten with age, rendering the DNA more and more unstable, until the cell dies. A 2007 study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition demonstrated that telomeres were significantly longer in patients with the highest serum vitamin D levels, compared to those with the lowest equivalent to five years of aging (PMID: 17991655). Vitamin D is crucial for skin protection. Further, calcitriol (the active form of vitamin D) helps in skin cell growth, repair, and metabolism as well as prevents skin aging.

The active form of vitamin D3 (calcitriol) penetrates the fatty phospholipid layer of the skin and migrates directly to the nucleus of the cell. Here it binds with vitamin D3 receptors where it controls many processes including skin repair, skin cell production and the immune function of the skin (PMID: 2842365). The skin cells naturally die at a rate of about 30-40,000 cells per minute. Vitamin D3 plays a vital role in the production of specialized cells called keratinocytes, which are responsible for the production of millions of new healthy skin cells every few minutes. These vitamin D3 dependent keratinocytes create the structural framework that supports the skin tone and locks in the moisture the skin needs to stay supple and soft. Without the production of keratinocytes in the skin, the skin will dry out, wrinkle, sag and become thin and fragile.

How Vitamin D3 Works. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means that your body stores any excess vitamin not used. By contrast, water-soluble vitamins are excreted by your body. Humans were designed to get most of their vitamin D3 by getting adequate sun exposure in the summer months. UVB radiation from the sun combines with the natural cholesterol on the skin and creates Pre Vitamin D right on the skin. Within about an hour, this Pre Vitamin D converts to vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol (the supplemental vitamin D3) where it is transported and stored in the liver. When needed, it is shipped to the kidneys where it is converted into the super active form of vitamin D3 called calcitriol where it then re-enters the blood stream as the active form of vitamin D3 to be used throughout the body.

Vitamin D3 Boosts Innate Immunity. One of the bodys natural immune responses is called Innate Immunity where the body creates a non-specific immune response to foreign invaders, inflammation and infection. This Innate Immunity takes place in the skin and is very much dependent on vitamin D (PMID: 21664236). One of the mechanisms for this enhanced immune response is through modulating gene expressions that fight pathogens. In other words, vitamin D3 activates genes in skin cells that enhance the skins ability to protect the body from toxic invaders and infection.

Vitamin D3 Boosts Antioxidant Protection Within the Skin Free radicals are harmful chemicals in the body which play a large role in the break down, degeneration and premature aging of the body and skin. Stress decreases the blood supply available to the skin, which causes the production of free radicals in the skin. Vitamin D3 is a low molecular weight antioxidant that protects the skin from free radical damage. In fact, in one study, vitamin D3 was responsible for the production of enzymes that protected against free radicals and reduced lipid peroxidation (one of the most common causes of free radicals) better than Vitamin E (a powerful antioxidant). (PMID: 8698547).

In its active form as calcitriol, vitamin D contributes to skin cell growth, repair, and metabolism. It enhances the skins immune system and helps to destroy free radicals that can cause premature ageing. Vitamin D supplements have also been found to improve conditions such as spots and psoriasis. Our bodies produce vitamin D on their own through sun exposure, but too much sun speeds up skin ageing. Over time the sun can damage this delicate organ, leading to wrinkles, sun spots, and increased risk of skin blemishes. At times when sun exposure is limited, such as in winter months, it's important to top up levels of vitamin D through your diet and supplements to still gain its health benefits. A dull complexion can be a sign of a lack of Vitamin D. Your complexion may appear slightly grey, your skin not as plump or supple as usual, and you may also have darker under eye circles, this is because the skin needs Vitamin D for the skin cells to regenerate properly and remain healthy.

Vitamin D can reduce inflammation on your skin, which therefore means fighting against skin condition such as spots and rosacea. Due to its action on your blood insulin response, your breakouts could be vastly improved too, this lowering of inflammation will also help with your general skin health too. Vitamin D acts as an antioxidant, meaning that its able to help against fine lines and wrinkles. This vitamin helps your body to fight off free-radicals which are thought to cause lines on our skin and the general deterioration that comes with age. A lack of vital vitamin D sources could mean our wrinkles become appear much deeper and more visible, a lack of vitamin D may also may mean that we develop new wrinkles at a much quicker rate. One tell-tale skin sign of a vitamin D deficiency is dry, itchy skin on the face, which may occur all over or on areas such as cheeks, chin and forehead. In some severe cases, those with a deficiency may also develop eczema, this is thought to be caused by an immune system dysfunction. Studies have shown that vitamin D can be effective in its treatment whether the vitamin comes from direct sunlight, supplement or a topical skin application. A deficiency in vitamin D can cause your skin to sweat and is considered to be one of the first signs of a problem. You will sweat all over your body, including your face which can cause your skin to become dry and irritated, as well as increasing your chances of breakouts - so upping your vitamin D could help.

Vitamin E.  Vitamin E is the most abundant fat-soluble antioxidant found in the skin. Another widely considered antioxidant is the fat soluble vitamin, Vitamin E. Vitamin E helps support the immune system, cell function, and skin health. The fact that it is an antioxidant makes it very efficient at combating the effects of free radicals produced by the metabolism of food and toxins in the environment. Vitamin E may also be beneficial at reducing UV damage to skin It is secreted on the skin surface through the sebum, an oily substance that coats the outer layer of the skin. Our bodies store vitamin E in our fat cells, and we depend on adequate dietary intake to keep these levels optimum. Vitamin E is a potent anti-inflammatory agent, defending the skin against free radicals and reactive oxygen species that would otherwise cause damage  Vitamin E may also play a synergistic role with selenium in improving glutathione levels in the body, further increasing antioxidant activity (PMID: 6203294). Adequate levels of this vitamin in the skin may prevent inflammatory damage from sun exposure, helping to reduce the aging and skin risks from excessive UV radiation.  Vitamin E is also involved in immune function and cell signaling, regulation of gene expression, and other metabolic processes. (5) It even suppresses the formation of arachidonic acid, which could help improve inflammatory skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis (PMID: 2012017).

Experts consider vitamin E to be the most important antioxidant because it protects cell membranes and prevents damages to enzymes associated with them. Vitamin E is a nutrient your body needs to support your immune system and help your cells to regenerate. It also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that make getting enough essential to your everyday health. Vitamin E can be considered first-level defense" and occurs naturally within our skin but sun rays soon deplete that form of vitamin E . Resulting in a  dry and faster-aging skin. Vitamin E has the ability to reverse skin wrinkles and  improve your skin's elasticity.  It prevents skin damage by acting as a powerful antioxidant and prevents skin ailments by limiting the production of ailment-causing cells. Consuming Vitamin E daily causes younger-looking, smoother skin. Vitamin E helps to repair and improve the appearance of the damaged tissue faster. Vitamin E affects wrinkles by boosting connective tissue or collagen production, by supporting new skin cell growth and speeding up cell regeneration. It is equally effective for reducing brown spots and rough skin. Because vitamin E is a major antioxidant, it naturally works to neutralize all the environmental stressors that will destroy your collagen and cause fine lines and premature aging.

Vitamin E (technical name tocopherol) is considered an antioxidant superstar in its own right. This fat-soluble vitamin is available in various forms with eight biologically active components, such as alpha tocopherol and beta tocopherol, or combined in an ingredient called tocotrienols. Simply put, vitamin E in all of its forms works in several different ways to protect cell membranes from oxidative damage and to prevent collagen from being destroyed. It also works in powerful synergy with vitamin C. Scientific studies have demonstrated that vitamin E treatment can reduce UV-induced photodamage, decrease the risk of skin ailments, and stabilize the skin barrier.  In addition to its antioxidant properties, vitamin E may also protect the skin by absorbing UV light, but it is rapidly depleted by UVB, which is why it is recommended using it in combination with other antioxidants. In particular, vitamin C has been shown to stabilize and help regenerate vitamin E, making the combination of the two vitamins especially effective in fighting UV damage. Vitamin E is also a powerful antioxidant. The National Health Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) explains that it is an antioxidant that helps neutralize free radicals. This free radical comes into picture when our skin is exposed to any kind of external environmental stress. For Example - Heat, Sunlight, Ultraviolet (UV) rays, Dust, Pollution, etc. These free radicals are the major culprit behind damaging cells, faster aging of the skin, prevents scar healing or making skin restored to its original form, brown spots and last but not least, increase wrinkles.

Niacinamide  also known as nicotinamide, is the active component of vitamin B3. Niacinamide and it is known to reduce the signs of aging as it improves elasticity, texture, and tone. This vitamin enhances the skin's appearance and texture. It can brighten the skin for a more radiant complexion. It helps with hyperpigmentation and the fading of age spots. Vitamin B3 can slow the skin aging process as it helps produce collagen. It also plays an important role in repairing DNA damage. Taking B3 may even reduce your risk of non-melanoma skin problems by 23%. This vitamin also works to lock moisture into your skin, reducing dryness. It can help lessen inflammation, redness, and symptoms of rosacea.   Vitamin B3 can help to improve the appearance of the complexion by softening and smoothing the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and redness. Niacin has been proven to assist with the production of ceramides and fatty acids in the skin, which help to form the skins protective barrier. This allows the skin to keep moisture in while simultaneously keeping irritants out, as well as keeping the skin plump and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles perfect for dry, sensitive and aging skin.

Studies have shown that niacinamide has many potential skin benefits, including improved skin hydration, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, decreased brown spots, improved skin redness/blotchiness, and better skin elasticity. Niacinamide is known to have effectiveness on sallowness, wrinkling, red blotchiness and hyperpigmented spots in aging skin. Niacinamide has been shown to increase ceramide and free fatty acid levels in skin, prevent skin from losing water content, and stimulate microcirculation in the dermis. It also has a growing reputation for being able to address skin discolorations (often in tandem with other proven skin-lightening agents such as vitamin C and glucosamine) and to reduce skin discolorations and dark circles. It definitely belongs on the A-list of great skin-care ingredients regardless of your skin-care concern. multiple chronic clinical studies, topical niacinamide (vitamin B3) has been observed to be well tolerated by skin and to provide a broad array of improvements in the appearance of aging facial skin (eg, reduction in the appearance of hyperpigmentated spots and red blotchiness). Analyses of the data revealed a variety of significant skin appearance improvement effects for topical niacinamide: reductions in fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmented spots, red blotchiness, and skin sallowness (yellowing). In addition, elasticity (as measured via cutometry) was improved. Niacinamide, may help some signs of skin aging. Some studies suggest that it may help reduce the appearance of age spots and other forms of skin discoloration (PMID: 21822427).

Also known as vitamin B3 and nicotinamide, niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin that works with the natural substances in your skin to help visibly improve enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, dullness, and a weakened surface. Niacinamide also reduces the impact of environmental damage because of its ability to improve skins barrier (its first line of defense), plus it also plays a role in helping skin to repair signs of past damage. Left unchecked, this type of daily assault makes skin appear older, dull, and less radiant. Other helpful benefits of niacinamide are that it helps renew and restore the surface of skin against moisture loss and dehydration by helping skin improve its natural production of skin-strengthening ceramides. When ceramides become depleted over time, skin is left vulnerable to all sorts of problems, from persistent patches of dry, flaky skin to increasingly becoming extra-sensitive. Niacinamide also helps reduce the skins pores.  It seems that niacinamide has a normalizing ability on the pore lining, and that this influence plays a role in keeping debris from getting backed up, which leads to clogs and rough, bumpy skin. As the clog forms and worsens, the pores stretch to compensate, and what you will see is enlarged pores. By helping things get back to normal, niacinamide use helps pores return to their normal size.

Scientists theorize that niacinamide may be effective because it is a precursor to two super-important biochemical cofactors: nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+/NADH) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP+). Both of these molecules are central to the chemical reactions that your cells including skin cells need to repair damage, propagate, and function normally. Many of these essential reactions cannot occur at all without NAD+, which your cells cannot make without niacinamide. By giving your body the precursor, the thought is that it allows your body to make more NAD+. This fuels your cells to proliferate and also allows your body to absorb and neutralize more free radicals. Essentially, free radicals are molecules that have either lost or gained an extra electron, which makes them unstable and highly reactive. In high enough doses, they can damage healthy cells. But NAD+courtesy of niacinamide) contributes an extra electron to those unpaired free radicals so they can chill out and stop wreaking havoc all over the place. Interestingly, the same process helping your body create more NAD+ and, therefore, repair damage is thought to be the root of oral benefits derived from niacinamide on the skin. There is also evidence that topical niacinamide can increase the production of ceramides (lipids that help maintain the skins protective barrier), which may contribute to its topical effects on wrinkles, fine lines, and the skins moisture barrier. Individual benefits include:

Immunity. Niacinamide helps build keratin, a type of protein that keeps your skin firm and healthy (PMID: 17147561).

Lipid barrier. Niacinamide can help your skin grow a ceramide (lipid) barrier, which can, in turn, helps retain moisture. This is beneficial for all skin types, especially if you have eczema or mature skin (PMID: 17147561).

Reduces Dryness. Another way you can use niacinamide is to treat dry skin. This study found that niacinamide significantly decreases water loss (PMID: 15807725 ). Niacinamide was also proven more effective at increasing hydration in the skin's outermost layer. Another study found that a twice-daily application of niacinamide lowered inflammation, decreased water loss and increased the thickness of the stratum corneum (PMID: 23220080).

Reduces Sallowness. Ever noticed how some people's skin seems to take on a sallow, yellow cast as they get older It happens due to oxidative stress, which increases as we age and which niacinamide, as an antioxidant, can inhibit. One study found that Niacinamide significantly reduced skin sallowness (yellowing) (PMID: 16029679). The same significant improvements were noted in another study (PMID: 18492135).

Minimizes redness and blotchiness. Niacinamide reduces inflammation, which may help ease redness from eczema, spots, and other inflammatory skin conditions (PMID: 17147561). If you're prone to redness, niacinamide is one of the best ingredients you can apply. This study found that five percent significantly improved red, blotchy skin (PMID: 18492135). And this one established that it is a beneficial treatment for rosacea (PMID: 16209160). The theory is that niacinamide improves the function of the skin barrier, which means less irritation and less reddening.

Minimizes pore appearance. Keeping skin smooth and moisturized may have a secondary benefit a natural reduction in pore size over time (PMID: 17147561). Clinically it reduces pore size, and improves skin texture. A 12-week study cited in Cosmeceuticals and Cosmetic Practice found that niacinamide and salicylic acid significantly reduce pore size and bumpy skin texture. This happens because of niacinamide's ability to reduce sebum production. Pores always look larger when they are trapped with sebum and dead skin. So with less oil, they're not going to be as stretched out. And with smaller pores, the skin texture looks softer and smoother.

Regulates oil. The benefits of moisture retention are not just for those with dry skin types. Niacinimide can also help regulate the amount of oil the sebaceous glands produce and prevent your glands from going into overdrive. Niacinamide can actually slow down how much is released, with changes evident after two to four weeks (PMID: 16766489).

Protects against sun damage. Niacinamide can concurrently rebuild healthy skin cells while also protecting them from damage caused by ultraviolet rays. Research has shown that it has some photoprotective properties. One study showed that niacinamide aids in DNA repair after UV damage (PMID: 24798949 ). Another study found that niacinamide protects against immunosuppression caused by UVA and UVB, making it "a promising agent for skin ailment prevention (PMID: 19804594).  And this study discovered that it helps prevent photocarcinogenesis (PMID: 9427980).

Treats hyperpigmentation. Some research has found 5 percent niacinamide concentrations can be helpful in lightening dark spots. Benefits were seen after four weeks. This benefit may be due to increased collagen production. Niacinamide has proved to be an excellent treatment for pigmentation, age spots and melasma (PMID: 12100180)

Minimizes fine lines and wrinkles. Research has also found that Niacinamide  was helpful in reducing some signs of sun damage that come with aging. This includes fine lines and wrinkles. Niacinamide significantly improves fine lines and wrinkles (PMID: 18492135). Some researchers have suggested that niacinamide does this by increasing collagen production in the dermis. But it also helps normalize collagen, keeping it supple and flexible (PMID: 20725560).  According to Dermatology Times, it "inhibits protein glycation, effectively reducing deposition of cross-linked collagen and elastin molecules in the skin. Cross-linked collagen and elastin molecules are stiff and rigid, resulting in altered viscoelastic properties of the skin." (The anti-aging effects of niacinamide October 14, 2015).

Fights Free Radicals. Niacinamide has been found to protect from free radicals and prevent oxidative stress. According to the Journal of Clinical Aesthetic Dermatology, it increases the antioxidant capacity of skin

Protects against oxidative stress. Niacinamide helps build cells in the skin while also protecting them from environmental stresses, such as sunlight, pollution, and toxins.

Supports spots and pimples. Niacinamide may be helpful for spots and blemishes, especially inflammatory forms like papules and pustules. Over time, you may see fewer lesions and improved skin texture.

Strengthens the Skin Barrier. If your skin seems very intolerant even stinging when you apply your skincare then it's possible your skin barrier has become compromised. I often hear from people who are experiencing this after using topicals that were too harsh, such as prescription retinoids. To restore barrier function, Niacinamide reduces transepidermal water loss and increases the moisture content of the stratum corneum, resulting in a thicker and stronger barrier. According to the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, it "would be a suitable component in cosmetic products for use in disorders of epidermal barrier function." (PMID: 17147561).

Resveratol  This helps boost collagen formation.  Healthy collagen is required for a young looking skin and supports the skin structure, and resveratrol helps to boost the production of collagen, which reduce as we age. Anti-Ageing effect of resvernatol and fighting skin ageing - Not only does it have a general anti-aging effect on the body, but specifically also helps to fight skin aging and to help repair damage already inflicted on the skin.  Resveratrol contains powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents and are packed with phytonutrients called anthocyanins. Anthocyanins help keep skin looking youthful through their effects on the collagen matrix and improved microcirculation. A supercharged anti-oxidant with anti- inflammatory properties, particularly Anthocyanin and related compounds, scientific studies have revealed that antho- cyanins such as those found in Resveratrol naturally avert glycation-induced damage by stabilizing the collagen matrix, promoting collagen biosynthesis, and improving microcirculation.  Resveratrol slows down the process of advanced glycation end-product (A.G.E.) formation, preventing the rigidification of collagen and elastin fibers - improving radiance in tired, dull eyes, reducing the appearance of dark circles and diminishes puffiness and under-eye bags, and reducing wrinkles and crows feet. This concentrated extract formula visibly un-creases even deep wrinkles, improves skin tonicity and firmness to help prevent the appearance of new wrinkles.

Resveratrol is a natural antioxidant that can be found in grape skin and even dark chocolate. In skincare, however, it works on a cellular level to fight aging. It was discovered that resveratrol is a molecule that activates sirtuin 1, helping more repair. This longevity gene has been discovered more activated in people living over 100 years old. Resveratrol is chemically linked with salicylic acid, which helps remove dead cells on the surface so, it can be liberated in your skin fully active to activate sirtuin 1 and all your anti-inflammatory benefits. Resveratrol as an antioxidant protects a cell's DNA from damage that is caused by free radicals and neutralizes these free radicals thereby reducing and slowing the signs of aging and cell damage responsible for skin belemishes and signs of aging. Resveratrol has been shown to protect against damage caused by ultraviolet radiation and stress. In addition, resveratrol can form soluble, complex molecules with certain metal ions, inactivating them so they cannot produce free radical formation. This action, in combination with its powerful antioxidant capability, makes resveratrol highly effective in combating the damaging effect of free radicals that leads to skin aging. Resveratrol also reportedly stimulates healthy cell proliferation. It's basically a gold mine of anti-aging effects, including protecting the skin from harmful enzymes and improving function of fibroblasts responsible for creating healthy collagen. Resveratrol is beneficial for repair and prevention of damage in all skin types.

Resveratrol is a type of polyphenol antioxidant that research suggests has many anti-aging effects. Like other antioxidants and phytonutrients, resveratrol is a powerful compound that regenerates the body all the way at the cellular level. Resveratrol is a polyphenol that has been researched extensively for its powerful antioxidant capacity. Like many other polyphenols, resveratrol has a chemical structure that gives it the potential to act as a beneficial antioxidant through electron delocalization and reactions of certain functional groups. Along with its ability to impact cellular functions, its protective qualities may prevent the alterations in the extracellular matrix of the skin that occur with aging (Arch Dermatol. 2008;144(5):666-672). The functioning of the extracellular matrix has a large impact on the aging of skin, a result of fragmented collagen fibrils present in the matrix. Resveratrol may specifically help reduce the intrinsic aging process (influenced by genetics), while restoring the skin and protecting it from the extrinsic (environmental) aging factors (Drugs Dermatol. 2010;9(6 Supple):s72-s81).  Reactive oxygen species have been implicated in a number of age-related skin disorders. Oxidative stress has a large impact on the appearance of aged skin, and studies have been conducted to test the effects of nutricosmetics containing resveratrol on certain oxidative stress indicators. In the study conducted by Ghanim et al, resveratrol was linked to reductions in the generation of reactive oxygen species, and additionally led to decreases in the proinflammatory markers p47, TNF-, IL-6, and SOCS-3 (J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2010;95(9):E1-E8.).  More specifically, resveratrol may support the function and structure of the skin by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and improving skin tone by reducing the impact of free-radical damage to the skin (Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol. 2012;2:159-165, Arch Dermatol Res. 2010;302(2):71-83).  Scientific studies suggest that resveratrol protects against UVB-induced photodamage, pigmentation, and collagen degradation. In other words, resveratrol may help brighten skin and prevent fine lines. Today, resveratrol is believed to be one of the most potent polyphenols and strongest protectors against symptoms associated with aging and free radical damage. The largest organ you have, your skin is tasked with functioning as your bodys first line of defense against harmful microbes, environmental stressors, and pollutants. Using antioxidant resveratrol boots your skins barrier function so your complexion looks healthier. Here is how:

1. Resveratrol functions as an antioxidant to scavenge free radicals and prevent more free radical damage

2. Resveratrol guards against environmental pollutants that make skin look dull

3. Resveratrol calms sensitive, over-exposed skin

4. Resveratrol reduces the appearance of redness and irritation

5. Resveratrol brightens your complexion

6. Resveratrol helps skin maintain normal moisture levels

7. Resveratrol reverses the appearance of premature aging, including fine lines and wrinkles

8. Resveratrol hydrates skin and reduces dryness

9. Resveratrol smooths skins texture

10. Resveratrol supports collagen synthesis for a youthful appearance

11. Resveratrol reduces the appearance of breakouts

Alpha Lipoic Acid.  Your body makes alpha-lipoic acid, a natural chemical that's in every cell you have. As an antioxidant, it attacks free radicals throughout the body. It is a substance that can erase fine lines and wrinkles, diminish pores, and give skin a healthy glow. This antioxidant protects skin cells from the environmental damage that leads to wrinkles, and helps reduce the lines already there. Used for years as a dietary supplement, ALA is a fatty acid found naturally in skin cells and a potent antioxidant that has been associated in studies with both inhibiting skin blemishes and improving the texture of skin. It works, like other antioxidants, by protecting cells from environmental and sun damage. But unlike its peers, it is one of the few antioxidants that is both fat- and water-soluble, meaning it can work inside the cell and in the cell membrane. In one study published by the British Journal of Dermatology, 33 middle-aged women were treated twice daily for 12 weeks half the face with a 5% ALA cream, the other half with a control cream. Skin quality improved significantly by about 50%--in terms of smoothness and wrinkle reduction. When you take an oral supplement, your body consumes it in stages. First, it is absorbed into your gut; then, it passes through your liver; finally, it enters your bloodstream and diffuses through your tissues. Now, in terms of addressing systemic ageing, this is very useful. The more you are able to circulate this key compound throughout your whole body and reap the benefits in terms of energy, metabolism, and more, the better. There are many reasons this little-known antioxidant is a key anti-aging nutrient. ALA helps to regenerate glutathione, your bodys master antioxidant. Glutathione is essential for healthy eyes, skin, kidneys, liver and more. Glutathione is your bodys most powerful antioxidant. It keeps all other antioxidants performing at peak levels. Due to its ability to slow the breakdown of collagen it slows the onset of wrinkles and sagginess, will remove fine lines over time and decreases pore size.

Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) does things other antioxidants cannot do. Of all the antioxidants, only ALA works in both watery and fatty parts of the body. It can get to all parts of your cells to zap free radicals. But exciting new research shows that ALA does even more to keep you young. It not only knocks out free radicals it also lengthens your telomeres. Telomeres are the protective caps at the end of your chromosomes. They are a sign of aging. Longer telomeres mean your cells are healthier and act younger. Scientists at Emory University School of Medicine found ALA supplements stimulated telomerase, the enzyme that lengthens telomeres. It is a natural exfoliant, clearing out pores, minimising their appearance and clearing up pimples especially dry skin breakouts.

Decreases fine scars and erase pink/brown marks after a pimple including inflammatory scars.

Assists in the regulation of oil production.

Removes dullness from an ageing skin.

It will improve skin texture, making it soft, more even toned and giving it a healthy glow.

It will treat under eye puffiness and eye-bags over time.

This "universal antioxidant" helps fight both future skin damage and repair damage done in the past by diminishing fine lines, giving skin a healthy glow, and boosting the levels and efficacy of other antioxidants, such as vitamin C and E. Alpha lipoic acid has two important characteristics. Firstly, as a fundamental co-enzyme in several energy-producing reactions on a cellular level. And secondly, as a small but powerful antioxidant accessible to all parts of the body. What's more, ALA can also help boost the level of intercellular glutathione, another antioxidant important for the immune system. Not only that, but... it helps fight inflammation and water retention by inhibiting the production of the pro-inflammatory chemical cytokine; destroys damaged collagen by activating transcription factor AP-1; has a chelating effect to remove hard water and other chemicals; and, helps prevent the cross-linking of sugar and collagen (a process called glycation), which can lead to stiffness, wrinkles and other signs of aging skin. Lipoic acid is an antioxidant compound involved in healthy blood sugar balance and insulin action. This dual action provides highly protective, anti-aging benefits for our skin by reducing the risk of glycation the abnormal attachment of sugar to our skin cells causing wrinkling and aging. Alpha lipoic acid is both water- and fat-soluble, making it protective for most tissues in the body. One study reported a 50-percent reduction in fine lines and wrinkles with the topical use of a high-potency lipoic acid cream.

Alpha Lipoic Acid has a powerful antioxidant property that is four hundred times the property of vitamins C and E combined. It helps control blood sugar and insulin. A rise in blood sugar can elevate insulin level, and triggers hormonal imbalance. This results in inflammation and formation of skin blemishes. It is also a powerful anti-inflammatory agent, thereby preventing inflammation, which can lead to scarring or blemishes. Alpha Lipoic acid is a powerful antioxidant that participates in many different physiological functions. As we all know, oxidative damage also prematurely ages our skin, causing wrinkling, thinning and blemishes.  Thus, anything that enhances our skins ability to fight oxidative damage, will also increase its heath, supporting skin tightening and skin rejuvenation. In fact, not only is ALA 400x stronger than Vitamin C and Vitamin E combined, it is actually known to help increase the potency of these vitamins. That is why Alpha Lipoic Acid is a favourite antioxidant. Because it can increase the power of antioxidants in your body, it helps you become better equipped to mitigate the visible effects of aging redness, inflammation, loss of firmness, large pores, wrinkles, and more.

ALA is the ultimate cell protecting antioxidant that reduces dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. It improves micro-circulation, strengthens native collagen and elastin matrix, and reduces the presence of free radicals to delay the visible signs of premature aging. HRBP absorbs easily for a lifting effect, and helps control damage caused by UV rays. Alpha Lipoic Acid exerts a positive localized effect on the hemodynamic properties of the blood to improve oxygen supply to the tissue. Because the complex inhibits elastase and collagenases, it reduces the effects of chronic UV radiation on the connective tissue, to help the skin retain its natural firmness. With the help of oxidoreductase the amount of free radicals, and thus inflammation processes, are minimized, resulting in a visible reduction of puffiness around the eyes and dark circles. Alpha Lipoic Acid is known to be one of the most functional antioxidants on the planet. It is used to diminish fine lines, wrinkles, and skin discoloration on the face. Alpha Lipoic Acid refines skin texture, reduces pore size, puffiness, and imperfections and uneven skin tone. In addition to being a potent and versatile antioxidant, Alpha Lipoic Acid is a co-factor in a key biochemical pathway responsible for energy production in the cells (citric acid cycle). It inhibits cross-linking, which is the formation of chemical bridges between proteins or other large molecules. Cross-linking contributed to the aging process by causing hardening of arteries, wrinkling of the skin, and stiffening of joints. The effects of Alpha Lipoic Acid benefits skin cells and, therefore, improves skin texture and wrinkles. These effects have been proven in a famous clinical study conducted at Yale University by Dr. Nicholas Perricone. In this study, subjects who applied an Alpha Lipoic Acid based serum experienced a reduction of mild-to-moderate wrinkles by up to 50 percent. Furthermore, fine lines virtually disappeared. In another study, lipoic acid significantly improved the appearance of certain types of scars.

ALA has 2 main powers: 1. Antioxidant. Several studies provided evidence that alpha-lipoic acid supplementation decreases oxidative stress and restores reduced levels of other antioxidants. Studies have shown that Alpha lipoic acid has free radical scavenging powers.  One study showed that reduced alpha-lipoic acid becomes a powerful antioxidant in its reduced form and found to reduce reactive oxygen species generation. This led the scientists to conclude that ALA can enhance antioxidant defences of human cells and prevent oxidative stress. (PMID: 12086686). Another review study showed that ALA and its reduced form dihydrolipoate compound can deactivate and reduce an extremely wide variety of free radicals that cause oxidative stress (PMID: 7649494).  Other studies have shown ALA can reduce levels of free radicals and lipid peroxides like malondialdehyde which is a key marker for oxidative stress. In one study ALA had a protective effect. It could 1) reverse the decrease in glutathione and related enzymes and 2) reverse the out-of-control malondialdehyde (one of the most dangerous fat soluble free radicals and a key marker for oxidative stress) (PMID: 15798887). Another study showed ALA reversed the decrease in glutathione and increased other antioxidants like catalase and superoxide dismutase as well thus reducing free radical oxidisation, PMID: 15804455).  ALA is one of the few antioxidants to be both fat and water soluble, allowing it to fight the countless different forms of free radicals on multiple fronts. One study showed that combining ALA with plant based antioxidants like curcumin (from turmeric) or ECGC from green tea could enhance its power, PMID: 15798887). One of the biggest benefits of ALA is in restoring antioxidants that have already been used. Your average antioxidant functions by donating an electron to a free radical. Free radicals bombard and destabilise healthy tissues by attempting to steal their electrons to make up for the fact that they are missing one. Antioxidants have the ability to donate electrons to these loose cannons of molecules, but do not become free radicals themselves but what they do become is deactivated and totally useless. ALA can search and regenerate lost antioxidants, particularly glutathione and vitamin C. Alpha lipoic acid also regenerates two lesser known ones called coenzyme Q10 and NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide). One study found that alpha lipoic acid supplementation increased cellular glutathione levels by 50% in healthy cells (Busse E et al, Influence of alpha-lipoic acid on intracellular glutathione in vitro and in vivo, Arzneimittelforschung. 1992 Jun;42(6):829-31, PMID: 1418040). Glutathione is one of the best researched antioxidants for wrinkles.  2. Anti-inflammatory. Alpha lipoic acid can control one of biggest regulators behind the pro-inflammatory chemicals which create wrinkles. ALA reduces chronic inflammation by regulating the biological processes involved in inflammation.  ALA has been shown to target the master regulator of a vast swathe of chemicals involved in inflammation NF-kappaB. NF-KB is a protein complex, of which elevated activity has been associated with a variety of inflammatory ailments. In fact, not only does NF-kappaB regiulate many pro-inflammatory chemical, but it also controls all the genes that regulate the pro-inflammatory chemicals. One study began by commenting on how important upregulated NF-kappaB is in chronic inflammatory ailments, claiming that high and poorly regulated levels with age were behind some ailements in the elderly. Then it compared alpha lipoic acid to vitamin C and vitamin E on several immune system actors. Alpha lipoic acid reduced NF-kappaB activity in these cells in a dose-dependent manner. It also reduced a more specific pro-inflammatory chemical called TNF-a, and was superior to vitamin C and vitamin E for both functions (PMID: 27081392 and PMID: 28721272).  This study, meanwhile, tested ALA against vitamin C in ascorbic acid and glutathione in human cells. Once again, alpha lipoic inhibited NF-kappaB in a dose dependent manner. Once again, vitamin C and glutathione did not (PMID: 11689467). Another review in 1998 of all the previous data stated  the benefits of ALA include direct radical scavenging, recycling of other antioxidants, accelerating GSH (glutathione) synthesis, and modulating transcription factor activity, especially that of NF-kappa B. The NF-kB restraint was responsible for the sometimes dramatic benefits of ALA. (Packer L et al, alpha-Lipoic acid: a metabolic antioxidant which regulates NF-kappa B signal transduction and protects against oxidative injury, Drug Metab Rev. 1998 May;30(2):245-75, PMID: 9606603). In another study on infected cells having severe immune system abnormalities and which NF-kappaB activity was out of control, ALA was found to have potent qualities and inhibit the excess activation with only a very small dose (Suzuki YJ et al, Alpha-lipoic acid is a potent inhibitor of NF-kappa B activation in human T cells, Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 1992 Dec 30;189(3):1709-15, PMID: 1482376). There is also research on the benefits of ALA for T cell function (PMID: 15389837). These are types of white blood cells involved with immune system adaptivity, specifically in the tailoring of immune system responses to specific threats. If ALA improves T cell function then it might stop the inflammatory response to spot bacteria from being so constantly brutal. It is safe to say that lowered inflammation and increased antioxidant supplies are the main benefits of alpha lipoic acid, but if you read the article with a keen eye you will already have identified an extra one. ALA also protects against toxic damage from some heavy metals (PMID: 15804455) and the onslaught of free radicals that it unleashes can show up vividly on the skin as well.  ALA also increases the levels of glutathione, a very important antioxidant normally found in our cells and responsible for mopping up all types of toxins and free radicals. Glutathione supplements, however, are not very helpful since glutathione does not have the easy ability to cross cell membranes. Fortunately, studies have shown that alpha lipoic acid can stimulate the production of this antioxidant. This is particularly important during periods of excessive stress or exposure to wrinkle causing toxic substances. Small amount of this acid are bound chemically (coenzyme) at the active site of enzyme complexes, it works by becoming reduced and facilitates biological reactions from which energy is harnessed. Lipoic acid has been recognized as a free radical scavenger that can influence oxidative damage and reduce inflammatory cytokines. This properties may be utilisied in treatment and prevention of scars and other forms of scarring and a damaged skin with changes in collagen and elastin fibers arrangements.  ALA also reduces lipid peroxidation has been recognized as one of the leading causes of sagging skin. Alpha lipoic acid maintains the level of major antioxidants in a desirable level within the cell- membrane and cystosol has the potential to prevent lipid peroxidation throughout the cells It also also anti-aging skin effects on the skin cells by neutralizing free radicals induced by sun exposure and other environmental sources. Oxidative damage has been recognized as a causal factor in inflammatory pimple breakouts.

Aloe Vera.  Aloe vera accelerates collagen production. Aloe vera also promotes the regeneration of skin cells and tissues.  The aloe vera plant stem or gel contains numerous natural compounds: giberrellin, lupeol, and glucomannan. All can increase your type 1 collagen production through various pathways, including binding to growth receptors on your skin and stimulating them. In one study where cells exposed to aloe vera rapidly became 2 times more concentrated with collagen than usual. The Aloe plant is highly soothing and provides many health benefits.  Aloe vera is a popular home remedy for skin infections. It can be applied topically or taken orally. There are 2 major ways by which Aloe vera can benefit wrinkles and fine lines. First, it is a great moisturizer and cleanser. This popular herbal remedy can penetrate the layers of the skin to nourish the follicles and soothe skin irritation. It can also speed up the healing of belmishes.  Secondly, Aloe vera contains at least 6 antiseptic agents which can provide a broad antimicrobial cover for the skin. Therefore, the herb can kill off the bacteria and fungi which cause or worsen the skins texture. Its bactericidal activity makes it useful for healing wounds and for treating skin infections such as psoriasis and spots.  Aloe vera extracts have also been shown to have antifungal properties. Apart from skin infections, aloe vera can be used to treat inflammatory bodies on the skin such as boils and cysts.  Aloe vera can penetrate deep into the skin to kill off bacteria hiding in clogged skin pores. It can also form a protective layer over the skin in order to speed up the healing of blemishes and wrinkles.

In a 2009 study published in the journal Annals of Dermatology, scientists measured the wrinkles and skin elasticity of 30 healthy females over the age of 45. Next, they randomly gave aloe vera gel supplements to each participant. Half the women received a low dose and the other half received a high dose. The women took the aloe vera gel supplements for 90 days. At the end of the study, the scientists found that wrinkles, elasticity, and collagen production improved in both groups. A 2015 study reported similar results. The participants included 54 women, aged 20 to 50 years. For 8 weeks, half the women consumed five tablets of aloe vera gel powder each day. The other half took a placebo. In the women who took aloe vera supplements, facial wrinkling significantly improved. According to the researchers, aloe vera has molecules called sterols. These sterols promote the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid, which helps the skin retain moisture. Consequently, wrinkles look less noticeable.

Aloe has been shown very effective in treating facial edema (swelling) and is an excellent remedy for ocular edema (puffy eyes). It naturally contains polysaccharides (which stimulate skin growth and repair), amino acids, essential fatty acids (which act as an anti-inflammatory for the skin), glycoproteins (which speed the healing process by reducing pain and inflammation), minerals, vitamin C and E, and zinc, plus a variety of other enzymes and constituents. Aloe vera enhances the ability of fibroblasts to support collagen production. The beneficial effects of aloe vera in skincare are clinically proven. Aloe Vera contains a plethora of anti-oxidants like beta carotene, vitamins C and E that improve the natural firmness of skin. It keeps the skin hydrated. It improves the skin elasticity, therefore minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Thus it refreshes the skin and makes it vibrant and young looking. Aloe vera lightens the skin and helps to alleviate sun tanning and hyper pigmentation. Aloe vera gel is extremely beneficial for dry skin. Aloe vera is a natural moisturizer because of the moisture content locked in it. This gel keeps the skin hydrated and increases its elasticity. It also provides oxygen to the skin which strengthens the skin tissue and keeps the skin healthy. Moreover, it moisturizes the skin without making the skin greasy so it is perfect for oily skin. Once used, it releases natural vitamins and enzymes on the skin to produce a deep moisturizing effect that helps to treat and restore its pH balance. Aloe vera extract overall helps in naturally increasing the production of collagen in the body, which further helps in reducing the visible signs of ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles. Collagen helps in decreasing the wrinkles and helps in skin tightening. It also improves the elasticity of skin.

Collagen.  Collagen is the main structural protein in human connective tissues, most notably our skin. The vast majority of the collagen in our skin is found in the dermis (the second layer of skin that sits beneath the epidermis), where it's also produced. Skin cells in the dermis (fibroblasts) synthesize the collagen that holds the rest of the dermis together, giving our skin its underlying structure. As for the structure of collagen itself, it is kind of like a braid or rope: Individual amino acids link up to form long chains, which bundle together to form thicker strands. Those strands then twist and coil around each other to form triple helices. Finally, those helices connect end to end and stack on top of each other to form clusters called fibrils. In other words, collagen is a pretty complex and massive molecule. Collagen provides the scaffolding or dermal matrix around which almost all new cells are constructed. As you age, the collagen content in your skin decreases by 1% each year   from age 25 onwards, and that is why wrinkles appear, why elasticity is lost, and why the skin thins. Your skin also starts to lose its glow and tone as you age due to the breakdown of collagen and free radical damage.  With no collagen at all, your skin would just fall apart. Boosting collagen levels is important for controlling blemishes.  Aside from spots and pimples, collagen depletion is also a huge factor behind all forms of ageing. Levels decline by 1% each year from age 25 onwards, and that is partially why wrinkles appear, the skin begins to sag, and lose its elasticity.

Collagen is essential for skin regeneration and youthfulness. Collagen helps tone skin and smooth the look of surface wrinkles. It is the most abundant form of natural protein found  in the body and it makes up the primary support structure of the skin. It gives skin strength and suppleness plus an inherent ability to retain moisture. After around 25 years of age, skin collagen starts to break down and skin loses about 1% of its elastic tissue  each year. These changes are major factors in fine line and wrinkle formation. The  collagen provides specific marine proteoglycans,  which studies have shown can help maintain skin thickness and protect against the damaging effects of photo ageing. Bio-marine collagen is made up of amino acids, which are the key building blocks of skin collagen. Collagen proteins are unique in that they contain the two amino acids, hydoxyproline and hydroxylysine which are not found in any other proteins. Without  adequate levels of these amino acids the bodys ability to repair collagen can be compromised. The marine collagen fprovides specific marine proteoglycans, which studies have shown can help in maintaining skin thickness and protect against the damaging effects of photo ageing. Proteoglycans also influence the arrangement of collagen fibres  and hence dermal strength. According to at least three recent studies, taking collagen peptides orally is associated with improved skin hydration, elasticity, and wrinkling, as compared to placebos (PMID: 29949889)

Collagen is a major component of your skin. It plays a role in strengthening skin, plus may benefit elasticity and hydration. However, several studies have shown that collegen peptides or supplements containing collagen may help slow the aging of your skin by reducing wrinkles and dryness. In one study, women who took a supplement of collagen for eight weeks experienced less skin dryness and a significant increase in skin elasticity compared to those who did not take the supplement. Another study found that women who drank a beverage mixed with a collagen supplement daily for 12 weeks experienced increased skin hydration and a significant reduction in wrinkle depth compared to a control group. The wrinkle-reducing effects of collagen supplements have been attributed to their ability to stimulate your body to produce collagen on its own. Additionally, taking collagen supplements may promote the production of other proteins that help structure your skin, including elastin and fibrillin.

Collagen is the most abundant protein in all of nature and particularly the most abundant in your body vital for your health. Over 30% of total protein in the human body is collagen. Collagen is the main structural protein found in the skin, the hair, the nails. Collagen even forms the connective tissues that anchor the teeth to your gums. It is particularly vital for wrinkle-free skin. It is estimated that below the age of 25, 80% of your skin is collagen. Boosting collagen levels is important for healthy skin. Collagen depletion is also a huge factor behind all forms of ageing. Levels decline by 1% each year from age 25 onwards, and that is partially why wrinkles appear, the skin begins to sag, and lose its elasticity.  Collagen also protects the skin from UV radiation from the sun whose rays can cause skin wrinkling, sunburn, and inflammatory breakouts, by mutating the cells and creating free radicals.

Gugulipid.  Guggul has long been used as a traditional medicine for a variety of health conditions. It has been used for thousands of years in the Ayurvedic medicine system.  The term guggul in Sanskrit means protects against ailments. There is evidence that the active components inside this plant have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. Guggul has ability of promoting synthesis of intracellular triglycerides or lowering degradation of intracellular triglycerides, and thereby, reducing depth of large and small wrinkles and giving the skin a smooth appearance. In a cell study, guggul increased type I collagen production and inhibited the production of enzymes that cause skin damage (Int J Cosmet Sci. 2012 Apr;34(2):155-60), PMID: 22084831). Its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties combined with its immune-boosting effects make it a promising treatment for bacterial infections, wrinkles, inflammatory skin ailments. If you're worried about developing wrinkles due to skin aging and exposure to pollution or radiation from sunlight, the use of guggulu could stop the problem in its tracks or slow down the onset. Lab studies show that guggulu extracts can not only boost the production of type I collagen which strengthens skin cells but also reduce the production of enzymes that damage skin.28 It can help your skin look smooth and supple and reduce the depth of both small and large wrinkles. Guggul prevents free radical damage, fuel mitochondria, the power plants in cells and reduces LDL cholesterol levels. The actions of guggul phytochemicals at the cellular level also make the herb a potent immunomodulator, which means it could supports the immune system to provide appropriate responses. In this area, guggulsterone has been used successfully supporting against spot breakouts. In the skin, guggul appears to promotes lipid synthesis and increases the production (and reduces the degradation) of triglycerides in skin cells. This reduces the appearance of wrinkles and gives the skin a smooth, supple appearance. Overall, it has fabulous properties to treat the effects of skin aging and is particularly effective in its action against wrinkles and fine lines.

LinumLife®  is carefully produced from selected flaxseed hulls. Flaxseed has been recognized as the richest natural source of lignans, with a concentration more than 100 times higher than any other plant source in the human diet. LinumLife® is standardized on 20% lignans as secoisolariciresinol diglucoside (SDG). Flax Seeds are one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet and natures richest source of essential Omega 3. Apart from Omega 3, they are rich in Protein, Fiber, Selenium, Vitamin B1 and Magnesium.  Flax Seeds also contain a good amount of Vitamin B6, Iron, Potassium, Copper and Zinc. The Second main component is Lignans which have Estrogen and Antioxidant features. Flaxseed contains nearly (75-800 times) lignans as compared to other plants. Lignans alter the way your body metabolizes estrogens into safer forms. Adds moisture to the skin and minimizes fine lines and wrinkles. Packed with Omega-3 fatty acids, lignans and antioxidants, flaxseed makes for a powerful ally in the fight against aging. The lignans in flax are antioxidants that protect the skin from sun damage in a different way. Sun exposure robs the body of antioxidants. It causes the production of free radicals. Free radicals are nasty little molecules that produce inflammation. They damage cell function and DNA in skin cells. Lignans restore the antioxidants and fight off free radicals. Flax seed may even slow the progression of melanoma. Lignans also work to prevent inflammation. ALA and related chemicals in flaxseed effectively combat inflammation. It inhibits the production of compounds that cause swelling in the body and reduces redness and irritation. Flaxseed lignans are anti-oxidant components that balance phytoestrogens in the human body. They restore the hormonal balance of the body.  The important components of the Flaxseeds (omega-3 fatty acids) heal the wounds at a faster level. It contains anti-inflammatory properties which minimize skin irritation, redness of the skin, inflammation, and rashes by consuming flaxseeds.  There are essential fatty acids in the flax seeds which usually keeps the skin hydrated and well moisturized. Dry skin leads to skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis and other aging problems.

As we age our skin shrinks and flattens out, losing its bounce the protein and essential fatty acids in flaxseed can help prevent this happening and stop wrinkles in their tracks.  Flaxseed plumps the skin and helps to repair the skins cells, showing a marked improvement in elasticity, firmness, tone and texture. Skin nourished with flaxseed looks brighter and smoother with less fine lines and wrinkles. It is beneficial for the rehydration of dry, itchy skin because the essential fatty acids prevent the skin from drying out and keep it moist. Antioxidants found in flaxseed oil are highly concentrated; they help the skin to protect against free-radicals and UV rays. Its anti-inflammatory properties help to minimise any irritation of the skin or redness, meaning that sunburn or a skin rash may heal quicker once a little of this soothing oil is applied. Flaxseed is extremely beneficial for chronic skin conditions, such as rosacea, spots, dermatitis, eczema or psoriasis, the fatty acids act to balance out the skins own oils and reduce any inflammation, helping the skin to repair. Dry and flaky or dull and blemished skin may be the result of the deficiency of omega-3 in the diet. Its anti inflammatory properties aid in preventing flare ups while keeping my skin lubricated. Flaxseed strengthens the immune system. Flaxseed is high in iron, which is essential to maintaining a strong immune system. The Omega-3 fatty acids in flaxseed also work with lignans to help white blood cells fight off skin ailments. Flaxseed oil reportedly lubricates and softens the skin, which reduces the obviousness of wrinkles. Our bodies use the essential fatty acids (EFA) contained in flaxseed oil to metabolize vitamins, produce hormones and protect us at a cellular level. If you have EFA deficiencies, you may be suffering from dry skin or eczema. This seed has moisturizing properties, all thanks to the omega-3 fatty acids, flax seeds prevent our skin from drying out. It also helps get rid of that unwanted tan and uneven skin tone.

Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory

Flax seeds contain extremely high levels of omega-3 fatty acids.  These essential acids  -the most well known are DHA, EPA, ALA are critical to making the body work efficiently but are not made in it. We must get omega-3s from our diet.  EPA and DHA are mainly found in fish while ALA is found in plants and partially converts into EPA and DHA in the body.  Omega-3s famously reduce inflammation in the body by combating free radicals produced by white blood cells that are responding to any number of toxins (sun, chemicals in make-up, car exhaust) we are exposed to daily.  Free radicals are what create inflammation which causes systems to break down and skin damage often in the form of wrinkles, pigmentation, and loss of elasticity.

High Fiber

The high fiber content of flax seeds moves waste through the intestine more efficiently (they are a recommended daily, natural laxative for pregnant women) while helping the intestine better absorb nutrients.  Effective eradication of waste is critical to keeping the body clean. Waste contains many toxins so we need to keep everything moving to prevent them being released into the skin!

Hormones

Flax seeds are rife in lignin a phytohormone and a good fat. Phytohormones are chemical messengers that mimic hormone activity. Because lignans mimic estrogen they are very helpful to menopausal women with dipping levels of estrogen.  Estrogen helps fight skin damage and keeps skin firm and youthful.

Green Tea Extract .  Research shows that polyphenols exhibit not just antioxidant, but anti-melanogenic and anti-wrinkle properties. Green tea is rich in an anti-aging antioxidant known as EGCG, which helps fight wrinkles by increasing cell turnover. A powerful antioxidant, it protects cells from oxidative stress helping to reduce puffiness and to minimize future signs of aging. It acts as a cell regenerator and potent wrinkle reducer. As a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, it provides treatment for facial firming, lifting and hard to treat wrinkles, mature, and laugh lines. By isolating the flavonoid phytochemicals called polyphenols, the extract visibly helps remove deeper wrinkles and expression lines and by quenching free radicals. Green tea extract has much more of the catechin, EGCG, which not only helps with under eye circles, bags and puffiness, but also has potent antioxidant properties. Aside from being an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant good at delaying the signs of skin aging like sagging and wrinkles, it has proved to be effective in reducing the damage made by the sun's UV rays by not acting as sun block but instead releasing free radicals and reducing the swelling around the eyesCamellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract helps reduce redness and is a powerful anti-inflammatory, and contains very powerful antioxidants to fight the environmental free radicals that damage the DNA of skin cells. A polyphenol (antioxidant) in green tea called Epigallocatechin galate (EGCC) is 200 times more powerful than vitamin E for fighting free radicals, and has been shown to be effectively absorbed via the skin. Green tea helps inhibit the action of collagenase, which is the enzyme that breaks down collagen; using green tea extract topically promotes collagen health and formation, thereby promoting skin firmness and elasticity. Green tea extract is also an astringent, and also contains Methylxanthines, which stimulate skin microcirculation and help provide healthy skin tone. Green tea extract is photo protective (which means it boosts the skins natural defenses against UV rays) and reduces erythema (redness of the skin cause by engorged capillaries beneath the skin).

Green tea polyphenols protect the skin from UV rays. Repeated and prolonged exposure to the suns harmful UV rays causes photoaging (6). EGCG, the green tea polyphenol, can help protect the skin from UVB rays and inhibit UVB-induced protein oxidation. This, in turn, can help prevent skin aging. Green tea helps scavenge harmful free oxygen radicals produced due to UV exposure. Green tea may also help reduce skin pigmentation, but more research is needed to establish this. Its antioxidants can help manage skin aging and wrinkles. Our skin starts to wrinkle as we age. The collagen and elastin fibers in the skin make it look plump and smooth. But with age, these break down, causing the skin to fold and droop.  Scientists found that green tea water extract reduced skin damage, promoted anti-wrinkling processes, and delayed collagen aging (PMID: 14743550). Tannase treatment in a 2013 study was found to improve green teas antioxidant activity, thereby reducing wrinkles (PMID: 23725307). Green tea may protect the skin around the eyes. The skin around the eyes is thin and very delicate. It wrinkles, ages, and becomes pigmented due to UV exposure, stress, poor lifestyle, genetics, and lack of sleep. Green teas antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, UV-protective, and anti-wrinkle properties may help protect the skin around the eyes from pigmentation, wrinkling, and sagging according to a 2015 study (J Clin Aesthet Dermatol. 2015 Sep; 8(9): 39-47, PMID: 26430490). Because it contains high levels of oligomeric proanthocyanidins - OPCs - some of the most powerful antioxidants, Green Tea is thought to help slow down the premature ageing process if taken internally. A small 2005 study of 80 women showed an improvement of skin elasticity in participants treated with a combination regimen of topical and oral green tea (PMID: 16029678). Green tea's antioxidant property is key to its skin-protective qualities. Of all the antioxidants known to mankind, the components of green tea are the most potent. Antioxidants are those agents which can counteract the effects of oxidant radicals. Oxidant radicals -- or free radicals, as they are commonly called -- are byproducts of the body that can cause damage to cells and tissues. Antioxidants bind to the free radicals, deactivating them before they can cause harm to the skin. Most of the polyphenols in green tea are catechins. Catechins, which are antioxidants by nature, have also been shown to function as anti-inflammatory and anti wrinkle agents.

Green tea is included mainly for its antioxidant property which is attributed to its polyphenol content. These antioxidant compounds help mop up free radicals that can damage the skin and cause hormonal imbalances. The antioxidants found in Green Tea actually help your body to more effectively fight infections and heal from wounds better. Green Tea's greatest benefit is that it removes toxins and eliminates the harmful free radicals in your body that have been known to cause pimple breakouts. Green tea contains a potent antioxidant in EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate) which may help reduce blemishes and revitalise wrinkle damaged skin. It is believed that due to its well documented anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity it can help deal with blemishes. Green tea lowers sebum production, prevents the formation of clogged pores, robs bacteria of a low oxygen and a sebum clogged environment to multiply. Another study showed that daily application of green tea reduced spot lesions by 51% after 8 weeks. Another showed a reduction in sebum production due to inhibiting the activity of IGF-1 hormones PMID: 22763784).

Grape Seed Extract  Helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and facial lines. Grape seeds have amazing skin benefits including reducing wrinkles and protection against sun damage. Very high in antioxidants, especially bioflavonoids, which have antioxidant properties that are much more powerful than vitamins C and E. Useful for fighting free radicals and for maintaining capillary health, grape seed extract offers powerful protection against the breakdown of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, which together make up much of the cellular matrix and support the capillaries. It is also an astringent, helping to tighten and tone the skin. Grape Seed Oil contains linoleic acid, which is important for cell membranes, and a powerful antioxidant called proanthocyanidins, which is helpful in wound healing. When capillaries are strong, they stretch to allow red blood cells through tight spaces, and do not let fluids in the blood leak out. When they are weak, blood can pool and create inflammation. Grape seed extract has also been shown to treat edema (swelling) as well. For fighting wrinkles, it is one of the superstars. An anti-ageing wonder ingredient which heals and repairs skin, leaving you looking younger, healthier and more radiant. The antioxidant effect of this oil is most useful when fighting the ravages of aging, as the oxidative stress caused by free radicals, which are neutralized by antioxidants, is one of the major factors that cause aging.

Research shows that when grape seed extract is applied to skin prior to UV light exposure, the compounds may have a sunscreen effect, helping to reduce redness and damage to cells. Aside from causing sunburns, UV light also ages skin. Antioxidants in grape seeds, vitamin C in particular, may help reverse or reduce some of the wrinkling effects. It also softens and smooths the skin. Grape seed extract, meanwhile, delivers vitamin E, a nutrient that concentrates in the membranes of skin cells and helps hold on to moisture. Grapeseed oil contains high levels of linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid that can help control spots and pimples by decreasing clogged pores. Blemish-prone skin has been found to be deficient in linoleic acid, making the sebum (oil) thick and sticky, leading to clogged pores. It is also anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial, making it an ideal sidekick in your fight against breakouts and skin blemishes. The vitamin E in grapeseed oil may help lessen the appearance of scarring and skin blemishes. The antioxidants found in grapeseed oil, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and proanthrocyanidin, can help to prevent and undo pollution- and UV-induced free radical damage to the skin.

Grape seed is a rich source of antioxidants, which are known to prevent free radical damage. As a result, the damaging effect that free radicals have on the skin is inhibited, preventing wrinkles and fine lines. In addition to the circulatory benefits that help maintain blood flow to the skin and provide antioxidant protection against damaging free radicals, research indicates that grape-seed extract can help maintain the structure and appearance of skin with its anti-elastase activity. Elastase is an enzyme that breaks down elastin-an important component of skin and connective tissues. By reducing the breakdown of elastin, skin is suppler and maintains a more youthful appearance.  Ex vivo, or test tube, studies have demonstrated that the bioflavonoids in grape-seed extract cross-link and strengthen capillary walls. Because the skin is largely made up of collagen and elastin, reducing the breakdown of these tissues and improving their structure helps the skin stay firm, supple, and youthful looking.

Grape Seed Extract is important to skin care because they protect collagen from free radicals and reduce inflammation. It also stimulates the growth and repair of skin cells by improving the delivery of oxygen and food. Grape seeds contain several enzymes, each with its own health benefit. The active ingredient in grape seeds is oligomeric proanthocyanidins, commonly referred to as OPC. OPCs contain antioxidants and antihistamine properties. Grape seeds also contain Vitamin E, flavanoids and linoleic acid. These properties present qualities that will help clear existing spots and prevent new breakouts. Grape Seed Extract is important to skin care because they protect collagen from free radicals and reduce inflammation. It also stimulates the growth and repair of skin cells by improving the delivery of oxygen and food. Studies have shown that grape seed has a high concentration of several important minerals, including flavonoids, vitamin E, and lineolic acid. Grapeseed oil can help promote healthy skin on a cellular level. That is because grapeseed oil contains vitamin E, beta-carotene, and linoleic acid. These nutrients give the oil antioxidant and antiproliferative properties, helping healthy cells to regenerate and replace aging or damaged cells. The ability of vitamin E, in particular, to help even skin tone and heal blemishes has been acknowledged by researchers. Natural oils that contain high levels of certain fatty acids like grapeseed have also been linked to wound healing. Grapeseed oil may even help fight off spot-causing bacteria. it also happens to have a concentration of essential fatty acids like palmitic, stearic, and linoleic acid. These fatty acids have performed well in clinical anti-wrinkle trials. They have also proven to be effective at minimizing the prominence and size of scars. Grape seed extract consists of antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which dries the sebaceous gland secretion and restricts the growth of spot causing bacteria. This extract has antiviral, antibacterial, anti fungal, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which makes it perfect for various skin conditions such as premature ageing, wrinkles, fine lines and spots. It behaves as a cleanser and removes all the dirt and oil trapped inside the skin which causes pimple breakouts. It also has astringent properties which dries up the oil secreted by the sebaceous glands and thus helps in controlling the growth of bacteria. It has been observed that the users of grape seed oil have significant reduction in the size of open follicles, meaning that the skin can restore its oil without much efforts. Another study explained that low linoleic acid level may cause inflammation, which presumably makes skin breakouts worse. Another aspect of grape seed extract vitamin benefits is skin healing that ensures scar removal and freshness on the face. When it comes to know what is grape seed extract used for, scientists have also mentioned that it can heal wounds faster than any other method by regenerating blood vessels and oxidizing wounds to allow new skin to take the place. Grape seed extract is particularly effective for spots and pimples because it is rich in linoleic acid. A study in the University of Liège in Belgium noted that one of the causes of spots may be a low linoleic acid content in skin oil. They found that those that used a topical linoleic acid treatment on their skin found a reduction in the size of their open follicles by as much as 25% compared to placebo. A study by Kansai Medical University in Japan found something similar. They found that while linoleic acid is unlikely to be a strong cause of pimple breakouts, it is likely that low levels of linoleic acid allow more inflammation to occur, presumably making blemishes look worse.  Grape seed is particularly important to reduce and prevent the effects of blemishes caused by the skins keratin turnover. Naturally your outer layers of skin shed almost fully every month. New skin cells replace old ones and then the old ones, in normal skin types, flake away. However, when you have spots and pimples, this does not happen quickly enough. It is scientifically called hyperkeratinisation - keratin is one of the main proteins your skin is made from and its production goes into overdrive. Normal skin types keratinise i.e. form skin normally. Blemish prone skin types hyperkeratinise i.e. they make or hold on to dead skin cells for far too long. This is bad because it forms keratin plugs inside your pores which help breed bacteria. When you suffer with pimple breakouts, studies show you have skin oils which are deficient in a type of oil called linoleic acid. This is why using grapeseed oil can help it is linoleic high. Using grapeseed oil for wrinkles and blemishes can help stop it from happening. Studies have show linoleic acid deficiency in wrinkle and blemish prone skin. Evidence shows your skin takes linoleic acid from your bloodstream. Now unlike other ingredients your body can manufacture on its own i.e. oleic acid, you actually have to eat linoleic acid high foods to have a needed portion of linoleic acid in your body. If you do not eat it, you do not have it. This makes linoleic acid an essential fatty acid.  Grape Seed is also important for blemish skin healing speeding up skin recovery and may be beneficial for controlling scarring

Helps to Increase the effectiveness of Vitamin C  The body requires vitamin C in order to form collagen - which is required for younger looking skin - and grapeseed helps to increase the effectiveness of vitamin C in the body.

Stabilises Collagen and Elastin With aging collagen and elastin can degenerate, but grapeseed helps to stabilize these very important components of the skin and by doing that helps people to have a younger looking skin.

Helps protect against skin damage  Sun damage is one of the most important things that cause premature skin aging, not only causing unwanted pigmentation, but actually aging the cells at cellular level. By protecting the skin from UV damage, it helps to increase the possibility of having a younger looking skin.

Skin lightening effect on the skin  In clinical studies it was shown that oral intake of grape seed extract not only helped with lightening sun damaged skin, but also skin marks caused by hormonal influence. So in totality, it is a great ingredient to take to fight excessive skin pigmentation on a nutraceuticals level.

Protects against free radicals. The antioxidants found in grapeseed oil, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and proanthrocyanidin, can help to prevent and undo pollution- and UV-induced free radical damage to the skin. The result? Skin that is smooth and firmand better protected against more serious issues too, such as skin ailments. (Remember: Free radicals are unstable molecules that can wreak havoc on your bodys cells.)

Moisturizes and balances the skin. Back to the fatty acids, which can help improve your skins moisture level by reducing transepidermal water loss (where the skin loses water to the surrounding environment via evaporation): Linoleic acid integrates into the cell membranes to fortify the skin barrier and smooth and soften skin.

Meanwhile, vitamin E replenishes lipids that have been lost (the skins natural fats that help to maintain a protective barrier and hold onto moisture). If your skin is on the oily side, this moisture boost will also help slow oil production, which tends to strike because your skin thinks it is too dry.

Reduces inflammation. Some studies show that linoleic acid also has anti-inflammatory properties and may reduce inflammation in the skins epidermal (top) and dermal (middle) layers. Plus, the phytosterols (a type of molecule found in plants) in grape seeds may help control the skins inflammatory response, according to a review published in the Molecular Journal of International Sciences. This may make it a handy ingredient to have around if you have an inflammatory disorder like eczema or rosacea.

Minimizes fine lines and wrinkles. Besides fatty acids, grapeseed oil contains polyphenols, which help fight premature aging. Polyphenols have been known to not just slow the aging process, but reverse signs of aging, like sun spots, fine lines, and wrinkles. The oil contains natural astringent properties too, resulting in firmer-looking skin.

Green Coffee Bean.   Scientific studies have shown that green coffee beans rejuvenate the skin and minimize the appearance of wrinkles. Green coffee beans contain powerful antioxidants, these anti-oxidants are known as coffee and chlorogenic acids. Anti-oxidants play an important role in retarding the aging process, and as green coffee beans have a high anti-oxidant content, they are among the most viable anti-aging skin remedy. Scientific studies have shown that green coffee beans rejuvenate the skin and minimise the appearance of wrinkles. In one study, 40 female subjects applied coffee arabica see oil (product of green coffee beans) on their faces over the course of 12 weeks. At the end of the 12 weeks, the participants showed notable improvements in the appearance of wrinkles, texture of the facial skin as well as firmness. These benefits were attributed to the ability of coffee arabica seed oil to promote the production of collagen and elastin. Minimizes fine lines and wrinkles - Coffee Bean is packed with caffeine and essential fatty acids that will help build natural collagen and elastin. This will give younger-looking, smoother skin, and is known to be used especially to tighten skin around eyes. International teams of researchers stretching from Brazil to Japan have discovered that ingredients extracted from coffee beans have been scientifically shown to rejuvenate aging skin. In one study, treated subjects experienced significant improvements in the appearance of wrinkles, firmness, redness, and texture of facial skin (J Drugs Dermatol. 2010 Dec; 9(12):1480-7). Its high concentration of essential fatty acids, sterols, and vitamin E make it a potent antioxidant that can offer protection against skin damage such as sunburn cell formation and DNA degradation. It can also assist in the prevention of the development of photoaging and inflammatory skin disorders (J Cosmet Dermatol. 2009 Mar;8(1):56-62.). In a placebo-controlled clinical study of 40 female participants, Coffea arabica after 12 weeks, treated subjects experienced significant improvements in the appearance of wrinkles, firmness, redness, and texture, compared to the control group (J Drugs Dermatol. 2010 Dec; 9(12):1480-7.) These impressive results were due to Coffea arabicas ability to increase production of collagen and elastin and to protect against the loss of moisture (J Cosmet Dermatol. 2009 Mar;8(1):56-62).When Brazilian scientists tested Coffea arabica they found a 1.5-fold increase in elastin production and a nearly 2-fold increase in collagen production compared to the controls (J Cosmet Dermatol. 2009 Mar;8(1):56-62.), These two proteins are essential for smoothing wrinkles and preserving the firmness and flexibility of facial skin. In addition, the study found treated skin cells had nearly 7-fold higher expression of aquaglycerolporins-3 (AQP-3) and a 2-fold increase in the amount of glycosaminoglycans. These proteins act as a tag-team to halt moisture loss and improve skin hydration. First, glycosaminoglycans behave like a sponge to bind and trap water molecules in a water reservoir, then AQP-3 transports them to the upper layers of the skin where they reduce excessive facial dryness and fine lines.

Extracts from green coffee directly combat UV damage to improve the strength, resilience, and elasticity of your facial skin. In another study, scientists tested caffeines ability to protect against photoaging with results revealed that caffeine administration limited photodamage (Br J Dermatol. 2007 May;156(5):957-64.) This protection could be related to caffeines ability to increase apoptosis (programmed cell death) of UVB damaged keratinocytes, which remove damaged skin cells before they cause photoaging and skin ailments. Caffeine also effectively targets and diminishes the appearance of crows feet. In a study involving 35 women between 30 and 70 years old, a cream containing caffeine was applied to the skin surrounding the eye on one half of the face twice daily while the other half of the face received no treatment. After four weeks, researchers observed a significant improvement in overall skin smoothness and the depth of wrinkles in the skin around the treated area, as measured with a three dimensional optical imaging technique (J Cosmet Dermatol. 2009 Sep;8(3):228-33). Apart from the antioxidant agents, green coffee beans are also rich in fatty acids and esters including Arahidic Acid, Linoleic Acid and Oleic Acid, which nourishes and moisturizes our skin to stop sagging, discoloration and other severe damages. The caffeine and chlorogenic acid in green coffee bean products has been known to tighten and tone skin temporarily, for the look of smooth, youthful skin.

Hyaluronic Acid.  This is what gives skin its volume and fullness and diminishes fine lines and wrinkles.  Hyaluronic acid supplements can help increase skin moisture and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid can enhance moisture content beyond compare. It also revitalizes skin's outer surface layers, so they look and feel softer, smoother and radiantly hydrated. This instantly improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acids moisture-binding characteristic is exceptionally important when it comes to skin aging. When we are young, our skin can hold onto water and retain a balanced amount of moisture, but it loses this ability as we age. The result is a visible loss of firmness, pliability, and a diminished appearance of plumpness and suppleness leading to wrinkles and fine lines. Simply put, hyaluronic acid has powerful anti-aging properties. As we age, our skins natural content of hyaluronic acid drops dramatically. People between the ages of 19 and 47 have twice as much hyaluronic acid in their skin as those in their 50s and 60s. As we age into our 70s, that amount drops even further, making hyaluronic acid supplements even more important, as they help replace what skin loses with the passage of time. Roughly half of the hyaluronic acid in your body is present in your skin, where it binds to water to help retain moisture. However, the natural aging process and exposure to things like ultraviolet radiation from the sun, tobacco smoke and pollution can decrease its amounts in the skin. Taking hyaluronic acid supplements may prevent this decline by giving your body extra amounts to incorporate into the skin Oral intake of hyaluronic acid can make it to the skin, where it helps the lower layers influence what happens and becomes visible on skins surface. Amounts of 20-30 milligrams per day have been shown to increase skins hydration to reduce dry skin, aid in the transport of nutrients in skin, visibly improve elasticity, and complement the plumping, wrinkle-smoothing results topical hyaluronic acid provides.

Hyaluronic acid has been shown to promote retinol, which stimulates collagen growth. Skin ages because of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps provide fullness and elasticity. Many factors contribute to the aging of ones skin, including the loss of hyaluronic acid, resulting in wrinkles and folds. Clinical data has shown that hyaluronic acid revelsdramatic effects on reducing wrinkles and fine lines, building skin tone and texture, increased elasticity, cell regeneration and various other anti-aging effects. The result is more younger, radiant looking skin. Also dubbed as the "key to the fountain of youth", hyaluronic acid helps hydrate and moisturize the skin, increases the skins elasticity, has fantastic anti-aging properties and its plumping effects boosts the skins radiance and appearance. In addition, it keeps collagen and elastin healthy & radiant, builds skin tone & texture, helps rebuild skin cells and tissues & promote their growth, boosts the skins collagen and elastin production and reduces the processes of cellular or tissue deterioration in the skin.  It prevents dry skin, flakiness and itching and creates a new younger looking luminous skin leading to a far more youthful and healthy appearance.

Hyaluronic acid, which has been shown in a 1999 study to promote skin cell proliferation and increase the presence of retinoic acid, improving the skins hydration (PMID: 10231509). Scientific studies have shown that Hyaluronic Acid helps improve skin hydration and production of collagen, fight free radicals, maintain skin elasticity, and even has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help with wound healing. Even though it is naturally produced in the body we need more through supplementation.  Well, the average human body contains about 15 grams of Hyaluronic Acid. However, one third of that gets degraded and synthesized on a daily basis. We also produce less and less as we age. So we want more, which is why many anti-aging products contain Hyaluronic Acid.  Hyaluronic acid has been called the bodys lubricant molecule.  Its main function is to retain water to keep your tissues well lubricated and moist and is primarily used to keep skin hydrated. It does so by attracting and holding water in the outer layer of your skin. Hyaluronic acid is perhaps the single most important natural molecule for moisturised skin -binding to and storing moisture in the skin. It has critical moisturizing property and high water retention capacity especially for human skin.  Whilst collagen is important for constructing your skin itself, and keeps it strong, hyaluronic acid is designed to lock moisture into skin. HA molecules are able to absorb up to 3000 times their own weight in water. HA therefore has an important role as a hydrating agent for tissue. This seemingly impossible figure is more disproportionate than any other biological substance. The ability of hyaluronic acid to draw moisture into the skin makes it a critical skincare ingredient for treating dryness associated with pimple breakouts. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring humectant which is a substance that absorbs water and helps keep skin moist and hydrated. Hyaluronic acid is just as vital for firm, youthful and glowing skin as collagen. Hyaluronic acid is natures ultimate solution for plumpness, firmness, pliability, texture, and a smooth appearance. While collagen forms the cells and structure of your skin itself, hyaluronic acid provides the moisture content. It is one of the most important inbuilt moisturisers of the body. Hyaluronic Acid protects your collagen. Hyaluronic Acid protects your collagen and elastin from being destroyed. Hyaluronic Acid stimulates the production of a substance called Tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases (TIMP-1), which prevent your collagen being destroyed by inflammation. Hyaluronic acid helps speed up new skin cell production and makes collagen function better. In one study, when human fibroblasts are suspended in collagen, one effect of added HA may be to stimulate the synthesis of tubulin which assists cells through the cell cycle.(Greco RM et al, Hyaluronic acid stimulates human fibroblast proliferation within a collagen matrix.( J Cell Physiol. 1998 Dec;177(3):465-73.PMID: 9808154). Hyaluronic Acid is also A strong antioxidant and acts as a scavenger of free radicals. It forms a protective meshwork around cells restricting movement of free radicals. There is some limited but promising evidence for free radical reduction. The glucuronic acid in the centre of hyaluronic acid molecules has been found to trap free radicals roaming around the skin. Even better, hyaluronic acid is not found inside your cells; it exists as the single greatest part of the extracellular matrix (ECM) which sits between cells. Hyaluronic acid forms a thick, viscous meshwork around cells and physically decreases the movement of free radicals. It is not just another part of your natural antioxidant defenses, just a completely unique one. Free radicals are highly unstable and can be destructive to nearby molecules. The scavenging action may be particularly important in the skin's defence against solar radiation, and in the wound environment against degrading enzymes. Hyaluronic Acid influences the expression of many genes including those contributing to keratinocyte differentiation and formation of intercellular tight junction complexes which are reported to be reduced in aged and photodamaged skin. Hyaluronic Acid has been shown to regulate 120 genes involved in skin vitality and youth. Hyaluronic acid also plays a key role in wound healing. It is naturally present in the skin, but its concentrations increase when there is damage in need of repair. Hyaluronic acid helps wounds heal faster by regulating inflammation levels and signaling the body to build more blood vessels in the damaged area. Applying it to skin wounds has been shown to reduce the size of wounds and decrease pain faster than a placebo or no treatment at all. Hyaluronic acid also has antibacterial properties, so it can help reduce the risk of infection when applied directly to open wounds The prolonged presence of Hyaluronic Acid ensures scar-free tissue repair. Due to an influence on signaling pathways, it is involved in the wound-healing process. Its biological activities in skin are also due to its interaction with various binding proteins (hyaladherins). It also protects the skin from infection by releasing B-defensins (peptides that inhibit bacterial growth).  It has been demonstrated that HA levels rise at the time of wounding and the molecules bind to the fibrin in the clot. The action is to make the clot swell and become more porous, facilitating cell migration into the matrix, to provide physical support. Cells from the periphery of the wound migrate in. In this way, the monocytes, macrophages and neutrophils are attracted to, and are able to proliferate in, the area and begin their phagocytic process. Some cells secrete hyaluronidase to degrade HA. As this degradation takes place, the resulting fragments act on endothelial cells to stimulate angiogenesis. This could be a direct action, as there are HA receptors on endothelial cells, or it could be indirect, via angiogenic growth factor. The HA angiogenic effect takes place only on specific cells and depends on the HA chain being a certain length or molecular weight. The hyaluronidase reduces the viscosity of the HA and allows the expansion of the new blood vessels. As the HA becomes less viscous, it facilitates the motility and proliferation of macrophages and fibroblasts, and in turn collagen deposition. The resultant tissue swelling allows more space for cell activity to repair fine lines and wrinkles. L-Glycine.  Glycine is a proteinogenic amino acid, which means it is among the amino acids biosynthesized into proteins. It is the simplest (and smallest) amino acid. Glycine is one of the main ingredients of the antioxidant glutathione. Glycine is a non-essential amino acid, meaning that your liver manufactures it in times of dire scarcity. However, your liver only produces inadequate amounts, just enough glycine to sustain you until you get your next fix of animal joints. Your body forms collagen from the amino acids glycine and proline, along with some vitamin C to control the manufacturing process. With insufficient glycine levels, as many of us have, your collagen production will also be insufficient, and your skin will suffer. Glycine can defend against free radical damage to your skin from prolonged sunlight exposure. It can also increase your vitamin D levels (which are critical for reducing wrinkles). So many human beings are deficient in it today, and its roles are particularly pertinent for clear skin, like manufacturing glutathione and collagen. Glycine boosts collagen and works wonders on all matters of skin tone, skin hydration, spots etc.  That is on top of Glycines other direct skin-improving powers, such as slowing aging. Aging is caused by many factors, from free radical damage to cells to shortening of the telomeres in your genes, but one widely accepted factor is a persistent drop in collagen that begins after age 25. Glycine can also improve skin hydration and smoothness, and hence make a chemical moisturisers totally unnecessary. Glycine reduces skin wrinkles and suppresses UV-B-induced skin damage and photoaging. Since glycine helps in the growth of collagen, it may also help to maintain skin health and aid in relieving skin conditions such as wrinkles, discolorations and eczema. L-Glycine cts as a penetration enhancer that alters the skin structure to allow other ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin. It is used to supplement the skins own naturally occurring sodium lactate to provide added moisturization and skin conditioning.  It is one part of the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) and helps renew skin cells. It softens the skin and helps protect against moisture loss and has antioxidant properties as well.Glycine has shown to significantly improve skin elasticity and improve moisture and water retention when glycine was consumed through collagen peptide. Women who took a glycine-based supplement for 4 weeks saw eye wrinkles reduce by 20%, with positive effects lasting after the study ended.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24401291]. At 8 weeks, collagen had improved procollagen type 1 by 65% and elastin by 8%.[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24401291].

Approximately one-third of collagen is composed of glycine. Glycine is an amino acid that is essential for many different muscle, cognitive and metabolic functions. It is one of the main amino acids used to form collagen and gelatin. The best sources of glycine are similar to proline sources, such as bone broth, collagen protein powder and other protein foods. Of one glycines functions includes helping break down and transport nutrients like glycogen and fat to be used by cells for energy. It is known as an anti-aging amino acid because of how it helps maintain lean muscle mass and stimulates the secretion of human growth hormone. Glycine is essential for the body to strengthen your body and allow it to work properly. This amino acid is essential for many different muscle, cognitive and metabolic functions. It helps break down and transport nutrients like glycogen and fat to be used by cells for energy, and in the process, it supports strong immune, digestive and nervous systems. In the human body, glycine is found in high concentrations in the skin, connective tissues of the joints and muscle tissue. One of the key amino acids used to form collagen and gelatin, glycine can be found in skin tissues.

Glycines greatest power is increasing glutathione levels. Its ability to improve the appearance of your skin is strong, but it can also prevent your wrinkles from forming in the first place. One little known power of glycine is providing the building blocks for the production of the all-important anti-wrinkle molecule glutathione. Glutathione is the single most abundant antioxidant which your body manufactures itself. It is just as critical for preventing wrinkles as vitamin E or vitamin C. Glutathione can cut off chains of free radicals on the skin, and sucks up free radicals throughout your body and prevent them from depleting other important anti wrinkle antioxidants like vitamin E and vitamin A. It also a potent detoxifying agent; glutathione is needed to bind with heavy metals like mercury and remove them from the bloodstream. Precisely thanks to those detoxifying powers, the average man has lower glutathione levels than ever. Chemicals, pesticides, carcinogenic herbicides like glyphosate, and heavy metals like arsenic are accumulating in our environment at an alarming rate and glutathione is depleted in the detoxification of roughly 50% of them.  Without dietary glycine, you can only make the bare minimum of glutathione from the scarce glycine your liver manufactures itself. Overall, Glycine helps form collagen and gelatin, substances that are important for building connective tissue such as the skin throughout the body.

L-Lycine.  Lysine slows down the ageing process.  It is critical for tissue growth and repair and in the bodys production of hormones, enzymes, and antibodies. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. They also help your metabolism and cellular activity. Amino acids are the building blocks of both peptides and proteins, and each has a specific role in skin care. Amino acids maintain skins hydration, texture, resilience, and an overall supple, healthy appearance. Amino acids are indispensable, for our skin and elsewhere in our body. Because it is an essential amino acid, Lycine cannot be produced by the body and must be acquired from diet or supplements. Amino acids are naturally present in skin, as part of what is called our natural moisturizing factors (NMFs). Within skins uppermost layers, amino acids work as conductors, orchestrating an incredibly complex concert that allows our skin to thrive and to stay hydrated. One of the ways they do this is by working in harmony with aquaporins (the bodys water transport system) to move moisture throughout skin. Lysine also plays a role as a biochemical aids in the production of antibodies and hormones in the body. It is also essential in the synthesis of enzymes and aids in the process of collagen formation as well as tissue repair in the body. Muscle protein synthesis requires lysine as a component and so is particularly important for facial muscle tone. Lysine is beneficial to the skin by encouraging the formation of collagen, which is the underlying tissue that supports the outer surface layer of the skin. As such, the presence of lysine in the body is essential for the prevention of wrinkles and sagging of skin - it is also essential in tissue repair and restoration. It also aids the body in the production of collagen, which is crucial to skin health and appearance. Because of the increased collagen production associated with lysine, the skin is also better able to repair its tissue as needed. As an added skin bonus, the improved levels of collagen associated with lysine may help to prevent early signs of aging, such as: fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots.

Lysine supplementation with its numerous health benefits may be useful in dealing with aging and slowing that process. This natural supplement may improve hair appearance, smooth the skin, reduce wrinkles. Lysine is a key amino acid required for healthy bones and glowing skin. Since amino acids are the building blocks of protein, they are extremely important to the body and are necessary for a slew of bodily functions like a healthy metabolism and skin repair and renewal. Specifically,  lysine helps with skin and bone aging. This is because, as research suggests, lysine is a building block for collagen protein. Collagen gives our skin and bones structure, preventing age-related conditions like wrinkles and bone fractures. Research suggests that lysine boosts our bodys ability to absorb calcium through the gut, making bones stronger. Some studies even suggest that lysine acts as a binding agent for the skin, helping to heal wounds faster ((PMID: 24265859) and encourage skin cell renewal (PMID: 19838381). The amino acids L-lysine and L-proline are an integral part of collagen molecule and collagen forms the base layer of skin. To make strong collagen for healthy, glowing skin and clean arteries, it's necessary to have ample supplies of vitamin C and two amino acids, lysine and proline. Proline can be made from other amino acids, so the two key components are really vitamin C and lysine. If you have enough C and lysine, you can make ample amounts of procollagen that then gets converted to the different types of collagen to help enhance your skin and appearance. Lysine helps visibly firm skins surface by reinforcing its supportive elements. Lysine does more than give you beautiful, clear skin; it also helps regulate many things inside your body. Lysine aids in the absorption of calcium, meaning taking it on a regular basis can help prevent osteoporosis. It is also essential for constant tissue repair and muscle growth; it is especially important for athletes and avid exercisers. And another important benefit of lysine is that it supports the production of elastin and collagen, which equals tight, smooth blemish-free skin.

Encourages Collagen Formation.  Collagen is a protective component that supports most tissues and provides cell structure. Lysine is required for collagen synthesis, and collagen strengthens tissues and is necessary for skin strength, blood vessel sturdiness, and skin elasticity. Studies show that Lysine helps build collagen in the skin (PMID: 22708567). Collagen is the structure responsible for your skins elasticity and firmness.

Speeds Wound Recovery and Bone Healing.  Besides aiding against colds sores and promoting bone health, lysine also seems to accelerate wound healing. When a wound occurs the new generated tissue may be fragile or defective. Lysine helps because it is a necessary building block for all protein, and it encourages collagen formation.

What does it do at the cellular level?

As an essential amino acid, lysine helps to build necessary proteins, and it also helps in collagen production and elastin production in the skin to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and lend an overall more youthful glow. L-Lysine Keeps the Skin Healthy As we already mentioned, some amino acids regulate our bodies down to the cellular level. L-Lysine is one of those essential amino acids because it aids the production of carnitine, a key substance which plays a role in converting the bodys fatty acids into energy, while also absorbing calcium. Additionally, L-Lysine aids the production of collagen in the body, and collagen (as you probably already know) plays a crucial role in skin health, contributing to a smooth, youthful appearance. Both of these functions - the regulation of fatty acids at the cellular level and the regulation of collagen - have made L-Lysine an interesting essential amino acid when it comes to the treatment of wrinkles, fine lines, and even spots. That is not all, however. Since L-Lysine is so dutiful in delivering collagen to skin cells, it also helps prevent (and even sometimes revert) conventional signs of aging, such as wrinkles, dark spots or fine lines. Collagen, after all, is what makes skin so firm, smooth and elastic. So more L-Lysine means more collagen, which means healthier skin.

L-Glutathione   Glutathione is one of the world's lesser-known anti-aging secrets. It protects the skin against oxidative damage and detoxifies the skin and body, helping to reverse fine lines and wrinkles. Glutathione also protects skin cells from UVA and UVB rays and plays a critical role in repairing wound tissue. It is known as the "mother of all antioxidants" and the "great protector," and it is not hard to see why. It is a protein comprised of 3 amino acids - glutamine, cysteine, and glycine made naturally in the liver and used in every cell in the body. However, aside from collagen supplements, many doctors are recommending to also take glutathione supplements as it is one of the most important molecules your body needs to stay healthy and youthful. As an antioxidant, glutathione protects cells against the oxidative stress that damages cell membrane proteins. Glutathione not only fights free radicals (those evil organic molecules that are responsible for aging and  tissue damage) but also recycles used anti-oxidants in the body. It is critical for immune function and controlling inflammation. It is the master detoxifier and the bodys main antioxidant, protecting our cells and making our energy metabolism run well. The caveat is that glutathione gets depleted with age, poor diet, pollution, toxins, infections, and radiation, among other lifestyle factors.

Glutathione, also known as GSH, is a naturally occurring molecule found in every cell of our body. It is made up three amino acids - cysteine, glycine, and glutamate. It participates in many cellular functions such as stress defence, detoxification, and cell signalling. Glutathione also impacts the regulation of DNA and protein synthesis, amino acid transport, gene expression, as well as cell proliferation and cell death. Maintaining optimum levels of glutathione is therefore crucial in protecting our bodys balance homeostasis. Disturbances in GHS balance have been implicated in the progression of a number of ailments. Basically, where ever you find a chronic ailment, glutathione levels will be low.

How Glutathione Works

The secret of its power is the sulfur (SH) chemical groups it contains. Sulfur is a sticky, smelly molecule. It acts like fly paper and all the bad things in the body stick onto it, including free radicals and toxins like mercury and other heavy metals. As a detoxifier, It binds metals and other toxins and transforms them into compounds that can be excreted in bile or urine. Once bound, these toxins become water-soluble and can be transported out of cells. Normally glutathione is recycled in the body except when the toxic load becomes too great due to aging and overexposure to chemicals, pollutants and sun damage. However, the binding of toxins to glutathione creates a demand on the body to make new glutathione. Deficiency results when a tissue or system cannot keep pace with the demand

A firming and anti-wrinkle and dark circle ingredient to make skin plumper, more youthful and better hydrated. Glutathione is a detoxifier and master antioxidant found in every cell in the body, it is a protein that protects every cell, tissue, and organ from toxic free radicals and ailments. It helps reduce and eliminate lines, wrinkles, blemishes, age spots  and dark circles. We all want to look our best, and clinical research has found that glutathione is capable of stimulating collagen synthesis. By elevating collagen production those fine lines and wrinkles start to disappear. Taken with the vitamin C in the formula is important for the intake of glutathione in the body which promotes collagen-production and improves skin tone. The most powerful antioxidant made by the body, glutathione is a small molecule made up of three amino acids cysteine, glycine, and glutamine that is found in every cell in the body. Under optimal circumstances, the body produces all of the glutathione it needs. But a poor diet, chronic illness, exposure to environmental toxins, and the use of some medications can deplete glutathione stores. Age is also a factor: glutathione levels start to head south around the age of 45 and decline quickly after age 60.  Glutathione boosts immune response and also protects other ailment-fighting cells called lymphocytes from oxidative damage and premature cell death. Emerging research suggests that glutathione can help you look younger by reducing wrinkles and photoaging.  One recent study involved 60 people given a drink with 104.5 mg of glutathione or a placebo every day for four weeks. At the end, those taking glutathione saw a marked improvement in the number and severity of their wrinkles. The researchers also found improved dermal blood circulation - a sign that the skin was receiving better blood flow and more nutrients. Recent research has found that application of glutathione to the skin can result in lighter skin, more moisture, suppression of wrinkles and increased smoothness.

Glutathione Benefits for Skin and Health This master antioxidant is associated with so many health benefits that it will make your head spin. How Does Glutathione Fight Aging? 1. Supports The Immune System  Having a strong immune system is key to good health. Glutathione is critical to helping the immune system fight infections and prevent ailments. Glutathione is found in all cells of the body, including the cells of the immune system, which fights ailments.  Glutathiones role in strengthening the immune system is two-fold. First, glutathione increases the count of T-cell lymphocytes, or white blood cells. White blood cells are the star players of your immune system that work to destroy bacteria and viruses.  Secondly, glutathione stimulates the activity and production of natural killer cells - it only kills the bad guys. A type of lymphocyte, natural killer cells rapidly eliminate virus-infected cells from the body. Your bodys lymphocytes, needed for the maintenance of our immune system, perform best when glutathione levels are at an optimum. GSH is also necessary for lymphocyte replication. This is proven by the preserved leukocyte function and good glutathione levels in healthy centenarians (those aged 100 and beyond), which may explain the ability of these individuals to reach a very advanced age. On the contrary, massive loss of cysteine and glutathione characterizes patients with HIV infection. Antioxidant deficit has been associated to frequent and severe infections that result in increased mortality. As we grow old, our cells begin to lose the ability to repair and protect themselves. That is why keeping your glutathione levels high can have a significant positive effect on your ability to ward off ailments. Another one of the many reasons behind the anti-aging benefit of glutathione is its capability to fight age-related oxidative stress and inflammation that contribute to our susceptibility and vulnerability to infections. And did you know that glutathione is also found in breast milk? This makes the liquid gold even more potent in boosting immune system function. 2. Removes Free Radicals and Heavy Metals From The Body All antioxidants capture and remove free radicals from the body. So, why is glutathione the leader of the pack? Because it is found in every cell of the body. It is the body's most important antioxidant because it's within the cell. Glutathione is in an advantaged position for fighting free radicals because it is intracellular. Glutathione also teams up with other antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, and selenium to support them in destroying free radicals.  But that is not all. Glutathione helps to remove heavy metals like arsenic, lead, and mercury from the body. Heavy metals enter the body through inhalation, ingestion, or absorption. Long-term, low-level exposure to heavy metals is detrimental to your health. It can lead to problems like blood sugar imbalances , liver damage, and kidney damage. Glutathione binds to heavy metals in the body and moves them out of the tissues. So, the first step to eliminating heavy metals from your body is to raise your glutathione levels. 3. Detoxifies The Body  We are constantly bombarded with toxins in our daily lives from smoke, household cleaners, plastic food containers, pesticides, fertilizers, pollution, prescribed meds, you name it. One of our best defenses against the toxins in the modern world is, you guessed it - glutathione.  According to studies, glutathione has multiple detoxification functions. Glutathione binds to toxins, pulls them out of the cells, and carries them to the liver where they are processed and then excreted through the kidneys, lungs, or bowels. Glutathione is not called the Master Antioxidant for nothing. It is present in every cell but is most concentrated in the liver, the bodys main biochemical synthesizer and detoxification organ. It also regenerates other antioxidants such as Vitamins C and E. Glutathione scavenges each cell for toxins and free radicals and flushes them out from our system. It also decreases the amount of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reduces oxidative stress which can otherwise cause molecular and DNA damage.  Aside from protecting us from oxidative stress, glutathione assists in the detoxification of harmful meds. Glutathione is also an effective chelator -  transporting and excreting toxic heavy metals present in the body. We absorb these through food ingestion and exposure to certain body products and chemicals. These toxic metals contribute to some neurological and cognitive disorders as well as cell damage. 4. Lightens and Brightens The Skin You do not have to become a sun-deprived hermit to lighten your complexion. To get porcelain-like skin, consider brightening your skin tone with glutathione treatments. Glutathione converts melanin to a lighter color and deactivates tyrosinase, an enzyme that helps to produce the pigment.  In countries like the Philippines, glutathione treatments have been used for many years to brighten skin, achieve a more even skin tone, and diminish blotches and scars. One study showed a lightening in skin color among its subjects after just 4 weeks of orally administering glutathione.  5. Decreases the Signs of Aging Skin  Age may make you wiser, and it certainly makes a bottle of wine more flavorful, but it does not do your skin any favors. As you get older, your skin starts to break down, leading to wrinkles, fine lines, dryness, discoloration, thinness, and a lot of other icky symptoms. While aging is not totally avoidable, you can turn back the clock and achieve a more youthful, radiant complexion with the aid of glutathione. Glutathione is one of the worlds lesser-known anti-aging secrets. It protects the skin against oxidative damage and detoxifies the skin and body, helping to reverse lines and wrinkles. Glutathione also protects skin cells from UVA and UVB rays and plays a critical role in repairing wound tissue. There are multiple causes of skin aging, but one of the most common is photoaging, due to exposure of UV light from the sun. Photoaging causes deep wrinkles, sallow discoloration and irregular pigmentation 2. Research has suggested this is because of free radical damage caused by the UV light from the sun. Glutathione is an antioxidant and protects the body from free radical damage. Aside from detoxifying and reducing free radicals, one of the anti-aging benefits of glutathione come from its ability to protect skin cells from near-visible, UVA and UVB radiations. In fact, in the critical UVB region, the extent of defense provided by glutathione is almost as good as that of nucleotide excision repair, an automated DNA repair mechanism for damaged cells. Researchers therefore suggest that a major role of GSH in human skin cells is to protect them from the cytotoxic action of sunlight.Lastly, speaking of repair and protection, glutathione plays a crucial role in repairing wound tissue.  Glutathione is also proven to improve wound healing, reduce wrinkles and dry spots which make us look older than we really are. Fights Photoaging - Emerging research suggests that glutathione can help you look younger by reducing wrinkles and photoaging. One recent study involved 60 people given a drink with 104.5 mg of glutathione or a placebo every day for four weeks. At the end, those taking glutathione saw a marked improvement in the number and severity of their wrinkles. The researchers also found improved dermal blood circulation-a sign that the skin was receiving better blood flow and more nutrients. 6. Glutathione is Anti-Inflammatory. Few of us know that inflammation plays a crucial role in the process of aging. Though inflammation is necessary and even helpful to ward off antigens that invade our body, it is also associated with a number of chronic ailments, most of which are common to the elderly. As we grow old, our bodies no longer efficiently make the cytokines that are necessary for the regulation of immunity, inflammation and the creation of new blood cells. There is also a significant decrease in T-lymphocytes in the elderly population, affecting inflammatory profiles. The increased production of free radicals and the natural depletion of glutathione do not help either. The good news is that when we have optimum glutathione levels achieved through supplementation, we have a better chance of reducing or eliminating inflammation.

Turmeric.  Turmeric has actually been used in Indian Ayurvedic healing for around 4,000 years for its health benefits. Modern research has shown that this remarkable spice may have a range of benefits in skin, from protecting us from premature anti-aging, to skin-clearing, to supporting skin healing and cell renewal. In fact, a true natural beauty all-rounder. It helps improve your skins appearance, fend off wrinkles and add moisture for a soft, supple complexion. Turmeric helps to reduce the excess oil on skin as it regulates the production of sebum. This reduced oil will then stop any blemishes to occur and also keep the dirt away, thus, keeping the skin clean and clear. It helps improves the skins elasticity and so helps to reduce wrinkles. It works as a vasodilator to increase circulation and improve sebaceous secretions (the skins lubricant produced by our tiny sebaceous glands). It helps improve tissue irrigation and activate cell metabolism by increasing glucose and oxygen uptake by the cells. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory, anti-allergenic, and a good antioxidant. It stimulates the fibroblasts to produce collagen and helps strengthen extracellular fibronectin. This is traditionally used by women in India as a natural cleanser and is used in place of soap, which can strip the skin of much needed moisture. Turmeric slows down the skin aging process, heal dry skin, makes skin supple. Turmeric in combination with the other ingredients is effective in reducing fine lines, dark circles and wrinkles. An anti-inflammatory, used in the treatment of psoriasis. Curcumin is the active ingredient that inhibits the growth of flakes of skin that lead to psoriasis. Thus, turmeric is one solution for the many skin related problems that we come across in our lives. This is therefore a must have herb and should be consumed regularly to always stay and look young.

Anti-ageing curcumin, a major component of turmeric, has strong antioxidant properties, that inhibits free radical production, and hence controls ageing by protecting cells from damage. Turmeric also helps stimulate new cell growth. Turmeric not only fights pimples and breakouts, but regular use can also clear scars and inflammation. Turmeric lessens the oil secretion by the sebaceous glands, and helps in keeping infections away. It is a great exfoliator and gives a youthful glow to the skin. Scientists have recently discovered that turmeric is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory substances in the world. Turmeric contains curcumin, which can fight inflammation internally and externally. According to the University of Maryland, turmeric is not only anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant, but it also has been shown to kill viruses and bacteria in in vitro studies. Less inflammation equals less aggressive attacks on the bacteria in your skin pores, and less wrinkling and skin damage. Turmeric is also extremely rich in antioxidants, which keep your skin cells strong against the destabilising forces of free radicals. Turmeric contains numerous other antioxidants, vitamins, and phytonutrients, many of which remain mysterious. There is even evidence that turmeric can suppress the stress hormone cortisol. According to one study, turmeric can also reduce oily skin by 24.76% in 5 weeks.

Curcumin has tons of benefits for the skin and the first is in increasing antioxidant supplies, not just by being an antioxidant itself, but by triggering your body to manufacture more glutathione. Not only do turmeric and curcumin increase glutathione, but they also have additional of blemish-fighting power by providing tons of antioxidants themselves. A review in 2008 analysed whether curcumin could treat glutathione depletion and found curcumin has potential therapeutic value for ailments involving GSH depletion-mediated oxidative stress. This is important for spots and blemishes involving glutathione depletion. In the study, curcumin increased both glutathione levels and decreased rates of protein oxidation, suggesting that curcumin protects against free radicals and oxidative stress (PMID: 18166164). A German study in 1992 found curcumin increased glutathione levels in the liver by 80%.(PMID: 1418063). Another study in 2001, found  90% curcumin increased liver glutathione levels increased by 16% compared to placebo. Furthermore, levels of molondiandehyde in the colon fell by 36%. Malondialdehyde is a biomarker used to assess bodily levels of lipid peroxides, the worst type of free radicals for spots (PMID: 11350917). Another study in 2010 highlighted its antioxidant properties and found that supplementation with curcumin was able to prevent a decrease of glutathione associated with toxic heavy metal mercury, often found in seafood and dental fillings. Curcumin also lowered levels of lipid peroxides and many other free radicals. (PMID: 20229497 ). Another study in 2005 found that curcumin possessed both antioxidant and antiinflammatory properties and stimulated glutathione production in the body. Curcumin was found to fight inflammation at a molecular level by inhibiting activation of NF-kappaB and AP-1, and IL-8 release. Curcumin possessed both antioxidant and antiinflammatory properties by increasing the glutathione levels and inhibiting oxidant- and cytokine-induced NF-kappaB activation and IL-8 release from epithelial cells (PMID: 15650394). The study concluded that the results suggested that curcumin has multiple properties: as an oxygen radical scavenger, antioxidant through modulation of glutathione levels, and antiinflammatory agent through inhibition of IL-8 release cells. Glutathione levels are fundamental to controlling the aging process , since antioxidants prevent blocked pores and inflammation and glutathione is one of the main antioxidants.  1. It's antioxidant - and so anti-aging One of the primary reasons for skin aging including wrinkles is free radical damage. This can come from processes inside the body (our cells make free radicals just from producing energy) and from outside the body, such as from UV damage. Studies suggest that natural constituents of turmeric especially curcumin may possess particularly strong antioxidant activity, and may directly reduce skin aging - including preventing moisture loss and protecting against wrinkles. 2. It's anti-inflammatory.  Inflammation is a big factor in many skin problems, from spots to psoriasis, eczema, Wrinkles and other skin rashes. It is what causes the unsightly redness and swelling, as well as the soreness and heat. So calming down the inflammation is vital. Again, it is turmeric to the rescue! One of this spices best-known properties is its anti-inflammatory activity, as shown in numerous research studies. 3. It's liver-supporting and blood-cleansing One of the traditional uses of turmeric in herbal medicine is as a blood purifier. A build-up of toxins in the body is one of the potential reasons for skin problems, including dull-looking or sallow skin, skin reactions such as rashes, and even increased skin aging. Modern research suggests that turmeric could actually help to clear toxins from the blood, in at least two ways. Firstly, it is thought that turmeric can increase the activity of certain enzymes responsible for removing toxins from the blood (known as phase II detoxification enzymes). Secondly, this wonder spice is thought to stimulate bile flow from the gallbladder into the digestive tract. As well as helping to digest our food, bile is the primary way in which our liver gets rid of fat-soluble toxins and wastes from our blood. 4. It enhances circulation Good circulation to the skin allows nutrients to be delivered to our skin cells, and waste products to be flushed away. Curcuminoids in turmeric have been shown to have anti-platelet activity - which basically means they can help to keep our blood flowing more easily. In a clinical trial, giving a curcumin supplement to patients was found to increase their micro-circulation -  the circulation to the smallest blood vessels such as those in the skin. 5. It boosts collagen production Collagen is the vital protein that keeps our skin firm, supple and young-looking. It is also needed for skin healing and renewal. It is been found that curcumin in turmeric has skin-healing and wound-healing properties, including by increasing collagen deposits in the skin. L-Proline  is an isomer of proline, a non-essential amino acid that can be synthesized by the body. L-proline is a non-essential amino acid manufactured mainly from ornithine, glutamine, and glutamate in the liver. Proline is the amino acid necessary for the production of collagen and cartilage for healthy joints, ligaments and skin. It is an essential component of collagen, the primary protein that makes up connective tissue, tissue that provides structural support for the body. Collagen also lies in the dermis of the skin where it gives skin its youthful support. As collagen levels decline with age, skin loses its firmness and resiliency. This leads to wrinkles and skin laxity. It is involved in the body's production of collagen and cartilage (and is often seen as an ingredient in energy drinks and dietary supplements) and is used in anti-aging and cosmetic formulas because of its ability to strengthen and renew aging skin cells. One-sixth of collagen, a major building block of skin (and its youthful appearance) is comprised of proline . According to research, Proline can break down protein to help create healthy cells and connective tissues, promoting firmer, glowing skin and reducing sagging, wrinkles and aging of skin due to sun exposure. For this reason, cosmetic manufacturers and manufacturers of anti-aging skin care products are always in search of compounds that boost collagen synthesis in the dermis of the skin as a way to restore skins youthful firmness.  L- proline makes up about 15% of collagen. Hydroxyproline, another vital component of collagen, is synthesized from proline and requires the presence of vitamin C. That is why a vitamin C deficiency can have such devastating consequences on the body due to its effects on collagen production. L-Proline is crucial for the production and synthesis of collagen. Proline is one of the primary amino acids needed to build collagen. It is a structural protein required to make the elastic fibres found in the skin, bones, ligaments and tendons. Together with lysine and vitamin C, proline is converted into hydroxylysine and hydroxyproline to help form collagen. Recent research shows that by increasing the availability of L-proline it may be possible to slow down the ageing process and enhance skin health. Proline is one of the twenty non-essential amino acids, meaning that it can be created and synthesized within the human body. It is involved in the body's production of collagen and cartilage and is used in anti-aging and cosmetic formulas because of its ability to strengthen and renew aging skin cells. It is one of the principal amino acids which the body uses to build collagen. Together with lysine and vitamin C, proline is converted into hydroxylysine and hydroxyproline to help form collagen. One-sixth of collagen, a major building block of skin (and its youthful appearance) is comprised of proline. According to research, Proline can break down protein to help create healthy cells and connective tissues, promoting firmer, glowing skin and reducing sagging, wrinkles and aging of skin due to sun exposure. When proline is taken, the stability of collagen is increased, making it a desirable supplement for skin integrity and decreasing fine lines and wrinkle. L-Proline also helps heal wounds. Proline initiates the biochemical pathway for connective tissue repair and collagen production, therefore increases wound healing and minimizes scar formation. Research has found that proline supplementation, along with other key amino acids can elevate collagen production. Additionally, proline has been found to increase collagen synthesis in human fibroblast cells together with its precursors, glutamate and pyrroline-5-carboxylate (PMID: 11470441). Thus, by increasing the availability of this amino acid it may be possible to slow down the aging process and enhance skin health. Proline is particularly important in tissue repair.  During times of injury where there is soft tissue damage, the body increases proline production. This helps to heal the wound.  In some cases, a deficiency in proline may be responsible for a higher susceptibility to tears or strains of soft tissues. A lack of this amino acid may also lead to slower than average healing times. For these reasons it is often recommended to take a proline supplement following a soft tissue injury to enhance collagen production and accelerate healing.

Lycopene.  Lycopene is a red nutrient in the carotenoids family that gives tomatoes, watermelons, and guavas their signature hue. The nutrient not only quenches free radicals but also induces the bodys own protection mechanism against oxidative stress and inflammation, enhancing skin resilience and allowing skin cells to better cope with the environment. In simpler terms: When you have too many free radicals, it stresses the body. Antioxidants render the free radicals harmless, helping reduce stress, inflammation, and signs of aging.  Lycopene is an especially strong antioxidant, so it can help your overall health along with the appearance of your skin. Plus, antioxidants help reverse signs of aging, which means plumper skin and reduced fine lines. Antioxidants help prevent and undo damage to collagen in the skin. Lycopene specifically helps prevent skin discoloration, texture changes, and fine lines and wrinkles. Lycopene cannot turn back the clock, but by increasing your lycopene intake, you can boost the health of the collagen in your skin and stop some of the fine lines before they start. Lycopene can benefit any skin type, but works especially well for sensitive and aging skin. Lycopene act as an astringent and can reduce the appearance of large pores. Also, the antioxidant calms the bodys inflammatory process, reducing redness and irritation. Add the anti-aging properties and lycopene has something to offer for all kinds of skin. But what really sets lycopene apart from all the other antioxidants is its potential effect on sun damage. A study in the British Journal of Dermatology found that lycopene supplements helped protect the skin from UV rays. The small study found that participants who took extra lycopene had significantly less sun damage compared to the placebo group. A 2010 study on the effects of tomato lycopene reveals how it can be used in nutricosmetic treatment to support smoother, healthier skin. The study concluded that the higher levels of lycopene concentration in the skin derived from the supplements correlated to lower levels of skin roughness. A number of studies suggest the potential of the ingredient to protect cells against the damage caused by reactive oxygen species, including those caused by UV radiation to the skin, and it appears in many dietary supplements designed to help protect the skin against UV damage. Lycopene is thought to be the most powerful of the carotenoid antioxidants and helps protect the skin from UV damage, strengthening the collagen. In fact, a diet that is high in lycopene is believed to provide a natural SPF of 4, helping to reduce age spots and wrinkles.

Lycopene inhibits the breakdown of collagen, helping to strengthen the skin and keep it young. Lycopene also reduces inflammation, stabilizes DNA structure in skin cells and may even offer protection against the harmful UV rays of the sun. It is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that helps protect skin from environmental agents that can contribute to wrinkling and damaged skin. Lycopene is a fat soluble vitamin. Besides being a powerful antioxidant, lycopene is also a carotenoid which means that it can be converted to vitamin A which is essential for skin health and a phytonutrient.  Lycopene aids in growth of skin pigments melatonin and collagen, thereby reducing redness and inflammation, while detoxing the skin. Lycopene found in tomatoes is one of the compounds known collectively as carotenoids. A large volume of research has shown for decades that carotenoids help protect skin against sun damage. Lycopene, widely considered the most potent antioxidant of the carotenoids, is a powerful antioxidant that not only protects against UV damage it also helps protect against damaging bacteria. Lycopene also appears to strengthen skin by inhibiting the activity of collagenases - enzymes involved in the breakdown of collagen in the skin. Collagen helps ensure the firmness and elasticity of your skin and prevents wrinkling.

Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant. Lycopene promotes skin immunity and has anti-inflammatory benefits with its super antioxidant-carotenoid properties. Lycopene increases your skin's protection factor, increases collagen production, and helps your skin cells regenerate. It can reduce redness caused by blemishes and helps in treating wrinkles and scars. It has antioxidants that aids in tightening the pores in the face which can lead to outbursts of  and firms the skin. These antioxidants can also help prevent skin damage. It help in cellular regeneration or the growth of new cells. When this happens in the face, scars can slowly be removed or erased. Moreover, as well as promoting cell regeneration it helps to reduce sebum on the skin. Due to the antioxidants, it rejuvenates the skin and make it smooth and healthy. It boosts our skins natural skin protection factor (SPF), protecting us from the suns harmful UVA and UVB rays that can dramatically and prematurely age our skin. It aids in the production, growth, and regeneration of skin cells, giving skin a more even and youthful appearance, thereby improving its texture. It also helps to produce collagen, which is what gives our skin a fuller, brighter appearance. As an antioxidant, lycopene has been shown to lower certain premature ageing promoting hormones, and a recent German study found that higher levels led to smoother skin. 1. Reduces Pores. Large pores are not only visibly unappealing, but they are also an open invitation for dirt, grime, and pollution to collect and turn into unsightly pimples. Lycopene is brilliant for reducing the size of our pores. Big pores provide easy access to dirt and grime thus increasing the chances of infecting the pore.  2. Reduces Redness Caused by Blemishes. Lycopene is a natural anti-inflammatory when consumed and applied topically. Lycopene has been shown to reduce Erythema or skin redness to a large degree. It can also soothe rough skin by promoting the growth of new skin cells. 3. Dries up Oily Skin. Those of us with oily skin really suffer with spots on our oiliest areas, mainly the T-zone and chin. Our sebaceous glands produce too much sebum, which can clog up our pores causing pimples and zits, and leaves us with a very shiny appearance. Lycopene can be used externally as an astringent to help dry the excess oil. Sebum is a substance and a major factor that causes pores to clog and form pimples. Using lycopene will then help prevent blemishes and thus prevent the onset of scars. 4. UV Induced Skin Damage: It is common knowledge that UV-A is responsible for most of the skin damage caused by sun exposure as it goes deep into the skin and UV-B is the one that causes sunburns. Research has shown that the use of high-Lycopene foods in diet, in addition to sunscreens, can reduce the damage to skin caused by UV-A and UV-B exposure. It boosts our skin's natural skin protection factor (SPF), protecting us from the sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays that can dramatically and prematurely age our skin. In one study, tomato paste, which is rich in lycopene, was found to protect skin against UVR-induced effects, including erythema and DNA damage (PMID: 20854436). Other studies have found that ingestion of beta-carotene and lycopene, high in carrots and tomatoes, are able to defend against UVR-mediated damage (PMID: 21953695). 5. Anti-ageing Properties: When ingested, Lycopene is converted to Vitamin A or Retinol by the body. Retinol is one of the best ways to reduce the effects of ageing as it promotes the production of collagen and melanin, both of which regulate the overall health of the skin. It improves skin texture because it promotes collagen production and reduces the DNA damage that leads to wrinkles.  6. Skin Lightening: The mild nature of Lycopene promotes the functioning of Melanin, which regulates skin color. It has been shown to reduce skin darkening and age spots. 7. Antioxidant Properties: Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant, so it neutralizes the effect of harmful free radicals The antioxidant properties of Lycopene are found to be two times higher than that of beta-carotene.  These antioxidants lycopene an anti-aging product as they help in fighting cellular damage and reddening of skin. In one recent study, Lycopene lowered inflammation, helped reduce oxidative stress, and improved blood flow in men In the study, 126 healthy men, average age 34, with healthy weight who took 15 mg of lycopene had much higher antioxidant levels, less DNA damage, better blood flow and lower systolic blood pressure, lower levels of C-reactive protein - an inflammatory factor - and an increase in the size of LDL-cholesterol particles, making them less likely to stick to artery walls and form plaque. In discussing their findings, doctors said supplementing to raise lycopene levels in the blood can reduce oxidative stress and improve the health and function of the endothelium blood vessel linings. (Kim JY et al, Effects of lycopene supplementation on oxidative stress and markers of endothelial function in healthy men.Atherosclerosis. 2011 Mar;215(1):189-95. PMID: 21194693). 8. Immune System: Lycopene is a stimulator for the bodys defense mechanism or the immune system. The immune system is coaxed by Lycopene to act faster in destroying ailment causing microorganisms. Lycopene is thought to suppress free radicals - molecules that are believed to be responsible for cell damage and ageing in the skin caused by toxins. 9. Lowers blood sugar levels. Lycopene can protect the circulation of the blood and kidney. These places are often affected by blood sugar imbalances. 10. It inhibits IGF-1 and androgens, both known for causing spots, pimples and blemishes. In a study in 2004 primarily focused on the role of lycopene in the prostate, Lycopene interfered with local androgen activation by down-regulating 5-alpha-reductase, the key enzyme for the transformation of testosterone to its most active form dehydrotestosterone (DHT). As a consequence, the expression of androgen-regulated target genes were also reduced. In addition, lycopene decreased the expression of two prostatic cytokines, IGF-I and IL-6. Thus lycopene interferes with both androgens and IGF-1 - two key factors in the development of spots and pimples (PMID: 15084515). If you want to prevent spots and pimples it is best if you can target the key pathway and it is known that the male sex hormones are key drivers in spots and pimples.  Androgens are considered to play a key role in the development of spots and pimples for both men and women. However other lycopene experts have suggested that the carotenoid may work by activating special enzymes that target the body's oxidative response processes.

Bio Absorption Accelerators - BioPerine.  BioPerine for enhanced absorption and bioavailability. As it prevents inflammation and oxidative stress and holds promise in the treatment of wrinkles and aging of the skin. BioPerine is a patented form of piperine, an alkaloid extracted from black pepper corns that is used to enhance the potency of the other ingredients. The primary value of piperine is its ability to enhance the bioavailability of some other vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Piperine massively increases vitamin and mineral absorption.  For example, piperine increases the absorption of curcumin, the main miracle compound of turmeric by 2000%, even enhancing curcumins properties according to a 1998 study (PMID: 9619120). Piperine has numerous health benefits. It protects against inflammation, may improve cognitive function, mood, allergies, cholesterol levels and blood pressure. It is also an antioxidant, has antimicrobial activities and it improves the bioavailability of many other supplements. This means our bodies can make use of them more effectively. Numerous recent studies have shown that piperine has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial  activities and so its benefit for wrinkles and the skin is immense.
