LARGE VICTORIAN KAYSER ELLISON BRIGH CUT ENGRAVED SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATED SUGAR BASKET c1890
With its superb bright cut engraved decoration and stylised scuttle form this silver plated large sugar basket is decidedly a cut above the norm. The piece presents delightfully and is furnished with a quality swing handle for carrying. Because of its generous size it could be used alternatively as a bonbon or smaller flower basket. Made by the respected Kayser Ellison Company of Carlisle Works Sheffield around the late Victorian period it is larger than the average which is in keeping with the Victorian ‘sweet tooth’. It is offered with what is thought to be the original scoop.
In exceptionally good condition for its years with very little in the way of commensurate signs of wear. Indeed any indications are tiny and scattered and need very close inspection to discern apart from one small rubbed area of tiny dots to the inner side of the basket and the same deep within the throat of the scoop. There are no structural faults.
Absolutely fabulous on display.
