Item:143359275212An authentic Victorian footstool, small but neat. Weighs 1.5kg. Base has marquetry inlays to side walls all in good condition for the turn of the century.Simple turned hardwood feet, one missing a chip. see pic The top is a separate piece which is held in place by a wooden `nut` screwed on to a wooded threaded stem. All works well as thread and nut are in good condition. A few shrinkage cracks in the softwood base and some slight damage to one foot. see pics. This is not really a problem as the foot can be turned away from view. Feet are secured with screws which turn, and tighten OK. The top pad is OK in itself being a softwood disc with a horsehair padding placed on top, then covered by fabric. The horsehair padding `dome` is complete and in tact. I took the top covering off to wash it and it was very fragile. So I put it back with staples and the original ribbon to keep the padding dome in shape. This was only a temporary job and the staples will come out easily for recovering. This why the pics show the ribbon `out of level`. I didnt recover it because its down to personal taste in the end. A neat looking item with complicated inlay patterns and great patina.Needs recovering before use.Weighs 1.5kg. Diameter is 270mm. Height including feet and padding 95mm.Having a (forced) clear out of my items collected over the years. Watch this space!!Condition:Was my grandmothers. Authentic Victorian. All the marquetry is in good condition but the top needs recovering. I have washed the original fabric top and it nearly fell to pieces., Original/Reproduction:Original, Product Type:FOOTSTOOL
