Item:143117645683An unusual later18th century French iron framed lantern clock. White tin glaze Faience dial with nicely shaped black numerals. Typical brass fret with wheat sheaves and cockerel design. Very well made heavy quality iron framed movement. Nicely shaped steelwork. Independently wound wheel trains. Unusual anchor escapement with pallets centre set high in relation to the escape wheel in the manner of Graham dead beat escapements. Rack striking sounding the hours and a second passing strike hammer sounding the half hours (single stroke). Repeating lever repeats the previous hour Please see images below. The movement is in good sound and clean condion. Very little wear to the pinions and the escapement pallets. The wheel trains run when pressure is applied to them. The escapement functions correctly with very little 'drop' The movement is complete. No pendulum, drive weights or cord.
