A superb unusual 19th century domed box.
This box is made from papier mache and hand finished to Simulate Burrwood, it has then been finely decorated in gilt Fleur-de-lis decorations.
The box presents well, the gilt decorations still contrast the simulated Burrwood very well. There is some age related wear showing to the exterior with surface cracking and bumping. After 150 years of handling the gilt decorations have worn thin with some fully faded around.
The interior has faired well but may benefit from some attention.
IMPORTANT The provided key is not the original and does not work the lock, I have included it for decorative purposes only. The lock is untested.
Overall this is a superb box that has been part of my own collection.
