An approximate conversion: British FN = US 7.0-8.0 (Really nice copy), British VG/FN = US 6.0 (Above average, still very decent) British VG = US 5.0-6.0 (Average wear and tear) DESCRIPTION: May 8th 1965, from an original owner collection that is offered to the collector market for the very first time. Arguably the most important weekly comic in the UK in the mid to late 60s, this is a feast of Gerry Anderson and other television characters and worlds with lots of colour and high production value. Sevenpence compared to the tuppence of The Dandy and The Beano. Stingray in colour across an impressive centrespread, the classic The Daleks on the back that told the behind the scenes story of the most feared creatures on telly that we never got to see in Doctor Who, Fireball XL5 in impressive colour across two pages, My Favourite Martian, Burke's Law, Supercar, Lady Penelope in colour - interestingly we hadn't seen her on tv yet as Thunderdbirds didn't air until 30th Sep 1965. This is a nice tight spine well above average FINE PLUS with none of that edge 'raggedness' you always get and what makes this collection stand out - the owner obviously cherished them - is the fact that they are flat with no horizontal crease which just ruins the look of copies. Also no name on the cover which I like. Nice white pages so these were kept out of sunlight. All told a nice bright FINE PLUS grade example from a lovely run #2 through to #157. Really nice this #16.
