Teruhide Kato (1936 –2015) studied at Kyoto Art College and became a famous kimono designer. Later he chose to follow his passion of becoming a woodblock print artist and acquired great success. His prints are based on the buildings and nature in his hometown of Kyoto. This woodblock print is of the famous Ryoan-ji rock garden in Kyoto, and is part of his series titled Kyoto Romance.
