Well portrayed owl pendant made of marble. A secondary or hidden bird on reverse. This follows the shamanic concept of duality, i.e. Life/ death, man/woman, night/day, ect. On the front the owl is well carved with precise eye ridges, beak and feet that curl up between wings. On reverse the body of the bird consists of snake like meanders symbolizing water. The eyes are carefully outlined with perfectly incised lines. Owls were the shamans allies and retrieved information on sickness and other dark mysteries. Length is 4.8cm or 1.8".
