Superb inlaid antique lancet-topped French mantel clock by Japy Freres. An imposing lance shaped mantel clock by Japy Freres, probably produced in the very early part of the 20th century measuring 32 x, 24 x13 cm (H,W,D). The clock strikes the hours and half hours on a gong. The case, which is made from mahogany, is inlaid with rope banding around the edges, and a panel of a burr wood to the front. The wood is in original condition and has just been lightly cleaned before polishing with a specialist conservation wax. The mechanism has been completey stripped, cleaned and reassembled and lubricated and the clock runs beautifully, keeping excellent time. As may be seen from the attached images, t his is an outstanding example of this type of clock and has been priced accordingly although reasonable offers will be considered .
