Item:163830387464Two panel's each with 5 Art Nouveau stylised thistles with green foliage and blue flower heads.. Technique Majolica/ Relief moulded,.. All the outlines of the flower's are raised and each five tiles are framed by a green raised border. Maker Godwin & Hewitt,.. They made some of the earliest Art Nouveau tiles from C 1899 Rd No 339269 and embossed England,..The blue thistle flower heads and the green foulage are a little lighter than the pictures show. There is some damage a small piece on the bottom right hand tile set on the border line which frames the whole panel also the second tile up on the same side on the top right of the tile. about 10mm X 14mm across If it was to go back in a fireplace the damage on the bottom tile most of it would be hidden by the frame they sit in. I have put many in myself over the years. The other nibble i can see is on the 3rd tile up on the bottom left hand edge. The left hand panel looks pretty good just a few teeny nibbles on the bottom edge. These tiles have not been touched since they were taken out of a fireplace many year's ago. The black marks on the back of the tiles are from when they were used in a fireplace. (Soot mark's) Please check my picture's for condition. Each panel is 29 3/4 inch or 755mm high X 6 inch or 150mm wide. Will not ship. There is some crazing in the glaze.. I've had these in a my collection for many year's they came out from an old Victorian cast iron fireplace which was to badly damaged to be restored. Please check the photos to judge there condition.
