This sale is to purchase a really stunning and oh so rare, antique Edwardian period 9ct yellow gold ‘Lily of the valley’ brooch which dates from C1910’s. The brooch which is complete with glass stones configured in the rarer G ive W omen the V ote crystal setting is really charming. It weighs 2.30 grams.
The original white metal bar clasp is in good order. The brooch is fully stamped with hallmarks to the rear for 9ct gold and carries a makers mark. The brooch has a fitted hasp for a safety chain, but one is not fitted.
This is a quirky adaption of a favorite period design and is supplied in a charming period box.
About : This type of item is exceptionally rare today’s market and were not available commercially in period, so many would have been adapted from period necklaces by jobbing jewellers, resulting in some unusual designs and a large range of styles. This necklace is from an earlier period and would have been up to 10 years old when adapted and is of premium quality, so a rare survivor?
The glass stones featured are Peridot for Green, Amethyst for Violet, clear crystal for White, supposedly symbolizing the Suffragette movements mantra, Give Women the Vote? These colours were first adopted in C1900 and the colours represent G reen for Hope, W hite for purity and V iolet for dignity.
This brooch: is in made up in 9ct yellow gold and a mix of sparkling multi-faceted crystals in sparkling peridot, amethyst & clear crystals. The overall affect is one of great charm. The brooch measures 1.75’’ in length and is 0.5’’ wide. It weighs 2.30 grams.
The box: is a charming period presentation box in dark brown leatherette, with a black velvet pad and a lidded inscribed interior. It is in worn antique condition 2/3 and shows much related wear to the exterior and interior. Please see photos?
Co ndition
This item is in vintage condition 2/3 There is a no damage to the lily apart from surface scratching to the larger glass crystals and some age related delamination to the metal work including minor marking. The brooch has been repaired in the distant past, by the replacement of a joint with wire. The repair is stable, but evident uder close scrutiny. The original clasp is in good order. All of the assay marks are visible. The condition of the box is above. All of our jewellery is carefully cleaned and checked before sale.
We only accept full payment through PayPal within 48 hours of close of sale. We try to offer our buyers free P&P to U.K. destinations. Free P&P will be by Royal mail 2nd class signed for which takes between 1-3 days in transit. It is unlikely that the post office will accept claims for goods lost in transit so buyers can upgrade service prior to check out. Larger items will be sent by myhermes and will be charged appropriately. Where we charge for posting, we make no profit on postage. Please check courier’s website for postage charges? The Postage serviced used is Royal Mail International Signed for. This is an economy service and can take between 5 - 56 days to arrive, depending upon location. It is tracked end to end. You may upgrade to Global shipping at check out. This is not suitable for Australia and we will only mail to this destination by Royal mail international tracked. Please refer to listings for costing.
P&P Where free P&P is offered, the shipping will be by Royal mail standard 2nd class mail, which takes between 1-3 days in transit. Buyers may upgrade the shipping choices before check out. We always send out items, within 1 business day and buyers will be advised of any unforeseen delays.

We will mail items by Royal Mail International Signed for, which is a trackable service or by courier at extra cost. Returns & Refunds
We will only issue a refund on items where returns are accepted. This is clearly indicated in the listings. Items are described as honestly as possible and you should check that an item is suitable.
