Description A stunning rare matching pair of very large English  antique 19th Century Victorian  all   solid sterling silver pierced fish servers by the silversmiths Roberts & Slater - (1845-1865), in excellent condition and with full English silver hallmarks for Sheffield 1856. Superb quality genuine 162 year old  examples, (definitely not modern re-productions), impressive size, with sterling silver handles and sterling silver blades, and all-over decorated with attractive foliate scroll engraving. Beautiful undamaged silver pierced work and they have a very heavy silver weight , approx 264 grams.  There are no added personal engraved monograms or crests and they are still housed in their original burgundy leather bound fitted case. A very fine pair.

Measurements Very large, the knife measures approx 12.75 inches (324mm) in length x 2 inches (51mm) wide, and the fork measures 9.5 inches (240mm) in length x 1.9 inches (47mm) wide.

Date English antique 19th Century Victorian solid sterling silver, with full English silver hallmarks for Sheffield 1856 , (date letter "N") on both pieces, so 100% guaranteed all original and matching. The silver handles both also have matching silver hallmarks too. Lovely clear struck marks throughout and include the silver duty mark of  Queen Victoria.

Maker Silversmiths initials "R & S", (Roberts & Slater - 1845-1865), stamped in 4 places.

Condition Excellent condition with no splits or cracks to the silver and no nasty knocks or dents, just some minor little bruises on the handles, really nothing much at all, and a very fine pair. No damage to the beautiful pierced work and both handles are tight and secure. Huge size and a very heavy silver weight and with no added engraved inscriptions. The burgundy leather bound fitted box is definitely the original, it does have some age-related wear, but nice to still have it and the lid catch works perfectly.
