Seller: Top-Rated Seller devonattic22 (1.201) 100%, Location: Paignton,, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 123884296283 Stunning Vintage (Rim-Wind) Portable CAR CLOCK with Blue Guilloche Enamel and Silver Dial. Works but Needs Attention. LUXURY AUTOMOBILE DASHBOARD CLOCK, WITH BEZEL WIND/SET MECHANISM On offer is a superb rim winding portable car clock from early to mid 20th century which once probably graced a very classy vintage motor car. This clock is very unusual to have a mix of three types of enamel feature, all on one small dial, and done to a high standard. The face of the clock features a blue enamel outer ring, (depicting seconds) and then a black enamel ring (background) for the Arabic numerals, and finally a central feature of blue Guilloche enamel, - probably all upon silver we think. Guilloche enamel is a highly skilled process whereby an engine-turned design is then filled with heated enamel to create a luxurious quality finish, as perfected by Faberge and Cartier. The hands are also enamel. The case and winder aspect are believed to be silver plated, (not attracted to a magnet) so not stainless steel as I thought earlier. The glass stands proud of the case, with bevelled edge, and has a white arrow which is used as a timer device by turning the rim. Glass is very good, with no scratches to speak of. All enamel work is very good with no damage. Measures about 61mm diameter. Unsigned. Maker unknown. May be signed within. Condition: Very good cosmetic condition for age. Has some light wear, and minor scratches to back. Glass very good. All the enamel is excellent, and silver plate is very good. Not rubbed. (any yellow colour is from electric light). Mechanically, works, but needs attention. The clock's rim winder part has one tiny screw missing at the edge. There should be three but there are only two present, and therefore the winding mechanism is not being held tightly in alignment as it should, and this leads to unequal contact with the winding cogs. Possibly an easy fix. Therefore the edge winder mechanism can slip a bit at times. Ditto setting the hands (via the little lever at bottom). This is probably due to the above missing screw issue mentioned. The clock works, and was running for several hours, (a bit fast but okay, and that is adjustable) but then got a bit temperamental, sometimes okay, sometimes not, so obviously needs attention. Finally, a minor issue, we have a missing screw to back of case - at "4 o'clock" position, - this may have let in dust over the years I suppose, and may possibly account for some of stated problem. Missing screws shown in photos. Having read the above you will understand that this clock will benefit from a clean, a couple of screws, and some TLC to get back to full working order. Sold as seen. Thanks very much for taking a look. HAPPY BIDDING! Good luck. Condition: Very good cosmetic state, enamel excellent. Works, but needs attention.
