As a result it is always highly sought-after by collectors and coin enthusiasts, both in the UK and internationally. Designed by sculptor Gilbert Ledward, the crown features the Queen riding on horseback, which is very unusual for a United Kingdom coin. The edge inscription reads 'Faith and Truth I will Bear Unto You' which is taken from the Coronation Oath. The reverse features a crown in the centre of an emblematic cross formed from a thistle, rose, leek and shamrock. Over the last 60 years, this has become one of the United Kingdom's most iconic coins, and has been the starting point for countless great collections.
