A very high quality, heavy and elegant antique Irish sterling silver Georgian sauceboat with the most wonderful colour and shine. It has been made from a thick gauge of silver which gives it a very solid feel to handle.
It has a superbly engraved contemporary crest to one side.
Fully hallmarked Sterling Silver, Dublin 1783.
The makers mark is lightly struck but I believe the maker to be John Ash.
It is in an excellent condition with no damage, denting or repairs.
It stands steady and true.
Some light surface wear that is only noticeable on a close inspection.
19cm length including the handle.
16.5cm by 10cm bowl.
13cm height to the tip of the handle.
364 grams.
A very tactile, decorative and usable piece of Irish Table silver in a remarkable condition for its age.
