Item:133181176295A rare 8 inch convex dial fusee wall clock by John Greenhalgh, Accrington. Greenhalgh is listed as a clockmaker 1848-58. The good quality gut driven fusee movement has shaped shouldered plates with knopped pillars and a pronounced ratchet wheel to the barrel arbour. All typical features for a clock of this age. The barrel containing the spring has a repairers date 8 November 1866, giving added confirmation of the age period when produced new. The dial is beautifully aged with fine crazing marks throughout the dial. The dial rests behind a cast brass bezel with convex glass. Time is indicated by spade hands of blued steel. The case is mahogany of rich colour is generous in proportion, typical of clocks of this region. UK bidders only.
