99p start price - and NO RESERVE...

This lot is for a superb Gents Seiko Automatic Scuba Diver's Watch. The base model is the 7002-700A A1, dating originally from May 1993.

In excellent pre-owned condition, I've customised the Seiko dial in the terrific 'Zimbe' style, the limited edition Seiko Prospex Diver watch (the SRPA19). I've also added a new set of classic 7002/7S26 style Hands. I've fitted a new scratch-resistant Mineral crystal with a 'Cyclops' window which magnifies the Date display. The watch also has a very smart new ceramic 'Submariner' style Bezel Insert, a new Chapter Ring, and a brand new aftermarket Seiko 'Accordion' rubber diver's strap.  This classic Scuba Diver's watch has been professionally Serviced and regulated, and is running beautifully, keeping accurate time.

The dual-finish steel Case has been expertly polished and rebrushed, and is in excellent condition. The watch also has a 'Quickset' Date window. I've used a modern upgraded luminous treatment on the hands and markers. I'll also provide a full Seiko instruction manual (in a downloadable/printable PDF file).

Please read on.

Dial/Hands  Customised Seiko Dial, designed in the Prospex 'Zimbe' style, in a handsome dark silver/grey colour, in perfect condition.  Signed 'SEIKO' and the 'Prospex' logo above centre, 'LIMITED EDITION, AUTOMATIC, DIVER'S 200M' below centre.  Applied circular dial markers, with baton accents at 6 & 9, and an inverted wide Arrowhead at 12, all with an effective luminous finish.  There's a framed 'Quickset' Date window at 3 o'clock (in the rarer 'White on Black' font). Minute markers run around the outer chapter ring, which is also new, and set at an angle which adds an impression of extra depth to the Dial.

The hands are also new, in the classic 7002/7S26 Diver style, in black-trimmed steel with a luminous fill. There's an 'Arrowhead' minutes hand, a 'Broadsword' hour hand, plus an orange 'Needle' seconds hand, with a lumed circle at the end of the long black counterbalance. The luminous treatment on the hands and markers has been upgraded with a superior modern compound, they glow nicely after exposure to light, and while it won't shine all night, the effect lasts for a little while, a nice bonus on a refurbished or redialled watch.

Case The large dual-finish stainless steel Case is in excellent condition, with minimal signs of use - in a satin-brushed finish to the upper surfaces, and a high-polish finish to the sides and back (I've had this expertly polished and rebrushed, and it has come up beautifully - there are no dings or obvious scratches, even up close appears excellent, tiny 'hairline' marks at worst).  The case edges remain crisp and nicely defined.

Bezel Original bidirectional steel bezel, light/medium resistance, turns smoothly with 60 softly ratcheted 'clicks. Very good condition, and fitted with a new ceramic Bezel Insert, white, in the 'Submariner' style, with elapsed-time markings in black.

Caseback The screwdown Caseback is in terrific condition, again expertly cleaned and gently polished, with only negligible tiny marks. The manufacturer wording on the caseback is clear and legible, and reads as follows: "Seiko, Stainless Steel, 7002-700A A1, Scuba Diver's, 351844, A, Lightning Flash symbol" plus the Seiko Wave logo in the centre.

Crown Original screwdown ridged-edge steel crown, cleaned and polished, and in very good condition, working perfectly. The crown stem and tube have been checked and are fine.

Crystal I've fitted a new scratch-resistant mineral glass, which is clear and bright, with no marks of any kind, and features a useful 'Cyclops' magnifying section over the Date window.

Movement Seiko 7002A 17 Jewel Automatic movement.  I've had the movement  professionally serviced and regulated , and the watch is running strong and true. All gaskets have been replaced. The Serial Number indicates the original date of manufacture as May 1993.

Strap A brand new aftermarket Seiko Z22 'Accordion' ridged rubber Diver's strap has been fitted, with a floating keeper, along with a new brushed steel buckle. I've used 'Fat' Seiko Spring Bars, which are a much better fit for these Diver straps, and help to ensure that the case lug holes don't get worn and loose through excessive movement. Will comfortably fit a wrist size of up to 8.5" (220mm+).  Here are some extra stock photos of the strap - click to enlarge:

Running condition  Running, and keeping excellent time. As well as the full Service, I've regulated the movement, which has been checked using a professional timing machine. I've also 'bench-tested' the watch twice on an automatic winder, over at least 24 hours each time - the watch is running nicely, and is accurate to better than +/-18 seconds per day max. (anything under 20 seconds a day is excellent for a vintage automatic).

Measurements Width without crown - 42.1mm (45.7mm including Crown), Lug to Lug - 45.1mm, Depth 13.3mm. Lug Width 22mm. Weight total 100 grams.

Other - This is a very smart Seiko Diver's Automatic watch, in a large 42.1mm, which wears quite proudly on the wrist as it's 13.3mm deep. Even though it's on a Seiko Diver's 'Accordion' rubber strap, it's a hefty 100 grams, and feels solid and well constructed, with a substantial wrist presence. The 17 Jewel Automatic movement has been fully serviced and regulated, and is working beautifully, the watch keeps accurate time.

I've customised the Seiko Dial in the smart 'Prospex Zimbe' style, and added a new set of Seiko Diver style hands - they are a nice combination, and are complemented by the excellent new 'Submariner' style bezel insert, which adds to the iconic Scuba Diver's appearance. The luminous treatment on the Hands and Markers has been upgraded, and they glow beautifully.

Though pre-owned, this watch really is in very good condition, with only minimal signs of any use, and has clearly been maintained well.  Plus I've had the dual-finish steel case expertly repolished and rebrushed - it looks terrific.

I'll send the winning bidder a downloadable/printable PDF File with the full Seiko instructions, which will show you how to change the date and maintain the watch etc.

This model is no longer available, and certainly didn't look like this originally, but I'm sure it will have cost more than my starting price - I'm starting my auction at just 99p, with NO RESERVE - you could get a top Seiko Automatic Scuba Divers watch, with an unusual and distinctive modification, at a real bargain price!

I've tried to be as accurate as I can in the description of this watch, please read the description and look at the photographs carefully.  You should study the photographs, which I've taken in close up detail - it will be enable you to evaluate the cosmetic condition far more accurately than I can describe it.

Postage for this item, packed weight around 130 grams and which will be securely packaged, will be FREE by First Class Signed-For Delivery (1-2 days delivery time), or if you prefer, I can use Royal Mail Special Delivery, which guarantees Next Day delivery (there will be an at-cost charge of £2.85 for the postal upgrade).  I always aim to dispatch my sold items within one working day of receipt of cleared funds. Tracked, Signed For, Insured Shipping will be £11.55 for Western Europe (Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed), £12.65 for N America, Canada and the rest of the World (Royal Mail International Tracked & Signed where available, otherwise Royal Mail International Signed). Shipping normally takes 3-9 working days to reach you, depending on destination, and subject to Customs procedures. Unlike some sellers, the charges I use for Shipping overseas are set at the actual cost to me (and I do not charge extra for the packaging). Shipping costs will be combined as much as possible for multiple purchases.

I will only ship to a PayPal verified address. Please note I will not ship to China (watches not allowed), Africa, Brazil or Italy.    Any questions, please ask - I have described the item as thoroughly and honestly as possible - but I'll try and help if I can!   Please Note: The majority of watches I sell are pre-owned, or New, but Old Stock. Whilst I go to every effort to describe the watches accurately, you should be aware that should a watch be marked Water Resistant or Waterproof, that was the case when it left the factory, and is not necessarily the case now.  Unless specifically stated, these watches are not fully serviced (though they will have been inspected inside and out).  Unless specifically stated, I offer no guarantees as to the current level of Water Resistance. If the winning bidder requires the watch to be Pressure Tested, I can arrange this for an at-cost fee (£25). Similarly, though I test all watches for accuracy and describe accordingly, this is no guarantee of future performance. Vintage automatic or hand-winding watches are by definition less accurate than their modern quartz counterparts. When purchasing a vintage watch, especially of high value, I would always advise the buyer to have the item inspected by a qualified jeweller, who should be able to identify any issues that I may have missed, and advise on water resistance, or servicing requirements.  Of course, should any issue then come to light, I will do everything possible to assist - as you can see from my 100% Feedback!
