Gill & Son are recorded within Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World by G. H. Baillie of working in Aberdeen in the early 19thC. The mahogany dome top case with old restorations, with box wood inlay, standing on bunn feet, brass sound frets and with gilt lion handles. A fine 5 pillar fusee movement striking the hours on a bell with its original pendulum, fully working. The hand painted dial with Roman numerals, signed Gill & Son Aberdeen and with fine pierced hands, there is a small repair to the minute hand. The clock stands 44cms high, 28cms wide and is 18cms deep. The clock will be posted with the movement removed due to the way it is mounted within the case. It is very easy to remount, 1 bolt which goes through the seat into the central pillar, this is a genuine feature of this clock.
