Upper Lower - Mid Devonian
Alnif, Morocco
The most diagnostic feature of this taxon is the granulose Cephalon for which the genus is named. The Proetidae were among the last of the Trilobites to go extinct, in the Permian period some 100 Million years later than this example.
This is a fine example with some excellent detail, it sits well upon sculpted matrix and has very good definition to all parts of the bug

A Note on all Moroccan Devonian Trilobites
Trilobites from this age are found within clasts and as such have no bedding plane, therefore in order to find the trilobite the rock is broken and the cross section of the trilobite revealed. The rock is then glued back together and the specimen prepared. 99% of all Moroccan Devonian trilobites will have a break line through the specimen, it is the only way they are found.

About Me:
I am a professional fossil collector/dealer and have been trading for many years, i regularly collect in the field and prepare lots of my own material in my fossil lab. If i do buy fossils then i make a point of buying directly from those who extract the fossils from the earth.
