This is a nice pair of antique late 19th or early 20th century Ridgways England Scenes From Coaching Days & Coaching Ways series plates, with black transfer on on amber brown. The series was produced between the 1890s and the 1920s and was based on a book by W. Outram Tristram first published in 1888. The plates measure approximately 8 3/4" in diameter (22.22 cm) and are in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or hairlines. Some crazing / minor surface wear commensurate with age. Spur marks that occurred at time of manufacture. The two plates in this lot are: "Henry the Eight and the Abbot of Reading" and "Old Marlborough", with each plate marked on the base with the Ridgways back stamp along with impressed numbers.
