This is an exceptional vintage English oak and glass electric weight driven regulator longcase clock with superb features and the quality to movement second to none. This is a very high quality electric clock movement. I do not have any experience on electric clocks and do not know they work but i will do my best to describe it but i have not been able to set it up as i do not know how the chains go as there is so many pulleys and a very rare unusual movement but i am sure you experts can sort it The case is very very impressive and will grace any room. It is very very heavy and is solid wood oak i beleive with a reddish colour to it. Notice the superb seperate corinthian reeded pillars to each corner. The case has a true regulator clock look to it with glass section all round including the back through which the pendulum can be seen and all the weights. The clock has a sachophagus design caddy pediment to very top arch which justs sits on the top and is not fixed The oak case has a superb patina and colour to it. Looks absolutely stunning and impressive wherever it is displayed as i am sure you would agree from the pics and the quality to the mechanism is absolutely second to none The case is in excellent condition and looks absolutely stunning wherever it is displayed The clock benefits from its original silvered chapter ring skeleton dial with a true seconds regulator subsidary seconds dial and original hand made english hands with a skeleton centre through which the very high quality weight driven movement can be seen. The dial is in immaculate condition with no damage The clock benefits from its original super high quality brass weight driven regulator movement of superb quality with an electric self winding mechanism to it. I do not fully understand how it works or how to set it up properly but i will try and describe the features as best i can The movement is fully mechanical driven by 2 brass large weights with 2 smaller brass counter weights and 2 chains. There is a brand new battery located in the base of the clock all wired in with a control switch underneath it which has the options of slow, off and fast. The battery is for the self winding system of the regulator clock movement. When the weights drop so far it triggers a switch which activates the winding system then the weights are wound up and when they get up so far they activate another switch which automatically knocks off the winding power until they drop down to the same position again. A very clever self winding mechanism. The chime side of the movement and the time side are driven by weights and not electric. The only thing driven by the electric motor is the winding mechanism I cannot for the life of me work out how it is set up or how the chains go around the pulleys and great wheels. The chains attach to the winding mechanism and to the time and strike cogs and there are multiple pulleys they go around but i do not know how they go so you will have to get somebody to set the clock up who knows how to set it up or can work it out The movement is of superb quality with thick brass plates which are shaped in the form of a skeleton design so all mechanical parts can be seen on display and looks absolutely fantastic. The movement has a grasshopper style escapement which is very rare and very very well designed with ruby jewelled pallets. The movement benefits from its original very heavy brass and steel inverted bar pendulum The movement also benefits from a musical ting tang 2 tubular bell chime on the hour and again as a superb night shut off feature so the bells do not chime during the night. I actually seen this clock all up and working in the gentlemans house. Unfortunately the gentleman passed away and the clock was dismantled by family members who cannot remember how to set the clock up. He said the mechanism was one of the most accurate he has ever witnessed. I have taken plenty of pictures of the mechanism for you all to see the quality in each part. I am delighted to be able to offer the clock for sale. It is a very rare clock and worth a considerable amount of money and i hope it goes to a good home I cannot stress enough the quality of the mechanism super complicated and a very rare thing. it really is a high quality regulator clock. A superb high quality clock and a sure investment for the future The clock measures 91 inches high (including the top pediment) 86.5 inches high without pediment x 28 inches wide (at widest) x 20.5 inches deep (at deepest) The trunk measures 21.5 inches wide x 15.5 inches deep The dial measures 10 inches diam Obviously collection is preferred or i could arrange delivery in mainland uk. • Condition: The solid oak clock case has a superb patina and reddish colour to it which gives it an awesome display and which is acquired through age with reeded pillars to each corner and bronze corinthian mounts to the tops and bottoms. The case has glass all round including the back and the case is solid wood and extremely heavy. The base has some inlaid decoration to it. The case has no sign of woodworm and is in great condition. The silvered chapter ring dial is also in excellent condition very clean. High quality weight driven movement and probably one of the best i have seen striking 2 tubular bells on the hour, the clock was working when removed from the gentlemans house, however i do not know how you set it up so will need somebody who knows about this type of movement
