Item:312881642592A rare early Victorian sterling silver ladle. It is hallmarked for London 1846 with the maker’s marks being SH over DC for Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater. It has been superbly designed to an unusual pattern with the terminal being engraved with the Stewart Family crest and motto (more precisely the crest of Robert King, Esquire, of Murdostoun Castle, Newmains, Lanarkshire see https://www.myfamilysilver.com/pages/crestfinder-crest.aspx?id=176398&name=Stewart ). It is in superb condition being free from dings splits and repairs. It measures 6.75 inches (17.2cms) long by over 1.75 inches (4.8cms) wide and weighs 50 grams. A rare Victorian example.
