Rare Pewter Plate John Braine Worcester. This is a plain rimmed plate with a diameter of 24 cms. and a weight of 510 gms.. John worked in Worcester in the early 1700's. Not a lot is known about John, but he had a son also called John who was also a pewterer and was Free in 1746.The touches of John Braine Sr. are stamped on the outer base together with a Crowned "X" and the owner's initials of "S. W". Cosmetically the plate is showing its age, with some of the patina beginning to lift and flake, but the plate is still sturdy with no repairs, and deserves a good polishing.
