Seller: pheebs273 ✉️ (284) 100%, Location: Hamilton, GB, Ships to: GB, Item: 266741710969 RARE Carlton Ware Art Deco 1930s Tait's Tower Ashtray 1620. History Here for sale is a rare Carlton Ware ashtray, part of a series made by Carlton for the Empire Exhibition in Glasgow in 1938. The series was sold at the department store, "Treron's", which was based on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. The tower featured on the ashtray is Tait's Tower, or the Tower of Empire, which was constructed in Bellahouston Park for the exhibition and dismantled in 1939.  Condition The ashtray does have signs of damage; the tower has been broken off at some point and glued back on, there are chips on the bottom of the tower where it's broken off, there is crazing all over the item and there are signs of use in the tray. Please make sure to look at the photos as I have tried to take clear pictures showing the signs of damage. H 11cm W 9.5cm
