Item:293300331319A Best Offer May Be Considered Before The End of The Auction, So Don’t Be Afraid To Ask. Extremely Rare Late 17th Century Horizontal German Table Clock Outer Leather Travel Case. For Striking or 1/4 Repeater Clocks (hence the sound holes). Circa 1690 Horizontal table clocks are now very scarce to find with most of them in museums and in private collections and their owners are normally very reluctant to sell them. In most cases some 99% of them lack their travel cases that most of them had when they were made new during the 17th and early 18th centuries, due to loss or damage. From a financial aspect the ones that do have their travel cases are worth some 40% more than the ones without, so this is a great opportunity to match case and clock together. The genuine clocks, not copies, just by themselves command prices well over £14,000 in the current market, so this really is a great investment to the right buyer. Dimensions: External across the flats smallest distance approx 12.2cm External height approx 10.6cmGlass aperture dia approx 7.7cmBrass bezel dia approx 9.1cm Internal across the flats smallest distance approx 10.1cmInternal height excluding the lid approx 6.2cmInternal height including the lid approx 7.3cmInternal height max to underside of the glass 9.3cm Further measurements on request, but please note as the above dimensions are as close as I can get by eye using a tape measure, I will not provide a refund if your clock does not fit.
