DESCRIPTION: We are pleased to be offering this gorgeous Vintage Hand Painted Japanese Satsuma small cabinet vase MEJI period circa 1800’s. The vase us in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The scene is of *two ladies w/one child* and, also, of a mountain village with flower blossoms, bamboo trees, lake etc. Colors are still vivid. Signed on the base with a hand painted gold mark as shown in pictures. A very decorative and classical piece. Would make a fine addition to any Satsuma collection. In excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks (see pictures). Must have taken numerous hours of concentrated hand painting to produce, then been carefully stored by the fortunate owners for over 100 years. These Meiji period (circa 1800’s) satsuma pieces are painted with polychrome enamels embellished with gold. Elaborate pictorial design with intricate details and beautiful coloration with gold accents. Artist Signed with the gilt marks, as well as the Shimazu crest on the underside of the piece. The vase is a true masterwork representing the pinnacle of Japan's Meiji era Satsuma ware. An exquisite and rare centerpiece for the discriminating collector of fine Japanese antiques.
