This red based cloisonne box has an unusual inset stone. We are not sure exactly what it is but it looks like amethyst with an insert of jade, as in a matrix stone. The edges of the stone are very rough, like is was a slice of a larger unfinished rock. The box itself is decorated with beautiful lotus flowers both on top and along the sides. The condition of the box is good, considering age, there are some abrasions on the corners and one side of the stone inset has a bit of missing enamel bordering the metal insert. The inside of the lid also has a small piece of enamel missing. Color of the inside and bottom is blue green and the bottom has the red China mark. Measurements are: 4" by 3" and 1 7/8" tall.
