This is a stunning vase that is a wonderful centre piece in a room. Gorgeous rich maiolica colours. The design features love birds, foliage and female busts on side handles. Would look wonderful as part of a buffet table or on a console table or plinth.

There looks like there was an old repair to a slight chip near base but barely shows. I've shown this in photos. There is a similar pair of this vase for sale on 1st dibs auction site for a considerably higher price. This site attributes them to the French artist Thomas Sergent (1830-1890).

Thomas-Victor Sergent, (1830-1890) was a French artist and ceramist, and an important member of the School of Paris; in 1870, he established his studio and shop south of Paris. Throughout his career, he participated at several International exhibitions in London, Vienna and Amsterdam. He was mainly known for his platters, vases and tobacco jars.

There is a small casting / production line in base - see photos. This seems to be standard with this vase as the other reference pair of vases had these too.
