For your consideration . A Fine and exceptional pair of ANTIQUE Sancai glazed CHINESE terracotta figures of
Dignitary Tomb Attendants, Ming Dynasty, (1573-1620 AD) .
Each modeled standing on a hexagonal base , wearing long green - glazed robes with one arm folded in front within wide sleeves.
Each face painted white with features detailed in grey / white and black pigments and surmounted with a tall headdress.
The faces are created individually with uniquely painted features, owing to their distinctive expressions.HEADS ARE REMOVABLE - NODDER .
Detailing and condition is exceptional, a wonderful addition to a collection.
Height 16 1/4" , 4" at the base.
Condition: Excellent and unrestored. Has some modest degradation to the glaze as typical with these figures and as shown in the photos.
Provenance: Purchased in Hong Kong from Yau Arts in 1982.
