Thank you for visiting my eBay shop, all emails are answered daily so please don't hesitate to contact me Description This is a very rare high quality antique 18th century English twin fusee verge bracket clock by James Snelling of London. James is a fine London maker and the Snelling family are from a long line of clock makers passing from father to son. The clock features superb proportions with a bell top ebony case, the case has a glass panels on either side through which you can see the quality fusee verge movement. There is a hinged glazed front and back door which both have there working locks and use the same key The Clock Measures - 19.75 inches high x 10.5 inches wide x 6.75 inches deep Dial The clock has a 9.5 x 6.75 inch arched brass & silvered dial which has engraved roman numerals on a silvered chapter ring and has pierced brass corner spandrels all in excellent condition. The clock has its original fine hands and to the centre you have the aperture for the verge escapement, an aperture for the calendar dial and a plaque signed by the maker James Snelling London. At the top of the dial you have a silent/strike selection dial which is a lovely feature to have Movement The movement is a high quality English 8 day twin fusee bell striking movement with its original verge escapement which is in full working order keeping time and striking the hours on the hour with its original pendulum and comes with a winding key, the movement is very clean and dates to circa 1770.
