antique engraved map of the parliamentary boroughs of Portsmouth,
Newport, and Andover
in Hampshire, England, printed more than 179 years ago.
This handsome map was drawn by Robert
Creighton, engraved by J. & C. Walker, and published by Samuel
Lewis in his Topographical Dictionary of England ,
1835. There is excellent detail throughout, including roads, individual
buildings, parish boundaries, farms, and natural features in this
part of the historic
county of Hampshire, on England's southern coast.
Among the specific named features are the Tithing of Foxcote, Cowes
Harbour,
Arundel and Portsea Canal, Andover Down Farm, Brockhurst, Whale Island,
Knights Enham, Shide Bridge, Fort Moncton, Gosport, and

The three panels are contained within a single decorative border, and
the
overall image area measures 23.7 x 18.3 cm [9-1/4" x 7-1/4"]. A legend
key
in the lower margin identifies electoral boundaries established by the
First Reform Act of 1832.
Condition: This sheet is in very good condition, bright and
clean, with a faint dimple in the right margin and no
marks, rips, or tears. The outline
color is original, and
the sheet is blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side.
