ESTATE FIND!!
Qing Dynasty scholar's brush rest or object riser. Probably 19th century but possibly much older.
Pierce carved from one single block of hongmu hardwood in double scroll form. Hongmu wood is very hard and this would have been very difficult to carve into this double scroll design.
A superb and delicate object from a scholar's desk. This might have been an ink cake riser.
Measures 5.5" (140mm) x 3.25" (80mm) x 2" (50mm).
Fine condition with no damage. Slight halo oxidation mark on top.
NO RESERVE!!
