There are barley twist pillars to the side of the dial and an arched top. A stamped brass plate is attached onto the front of the case,it reads "Presented to 1510. Gunner. L.G.Whiteley. M.M., 5th W.R.Battery R.F.A.(T.F.), by the Sowerby Bridge War Honours Fund, in recognition of his Gallantry in winning the military medal, Menin Road, September 20 1917". The reverse has a small brass circular door which reveals the inner workings of the clock. Towards the lower edge of this, the door is etched "FB57 BR/BEI". The clock strikes on the hour. ~ Dimensions ~ The clock stands at 10.2 inches (25.9 cm). It measures 7.5 inches (19 cm) at the widest point on the base by 5 inches (12.7 cm) deep. The dial measures approximately 4 inches (10.2 cm) in diameter. This clock weighs 2.18 kg. ~ Condition ~ The case is fairly worn with a small chip towards the top edge and a large crack. The reverse also has a large crack towards the lower and upper edges and there is a further one on top with a chipped area too. The enamel face is in good order with a chip above the "12 o'clock" position. It appears stops after 30 seconds or so and has not been serviced.
