We are currently offering for sale this lovely vintage Brenton, tall sailing ship brooch inscribed in French. It touts the strength of their sailing ships. It is silver plated.
Worthpointe lists it as "silver". It is in excellent vintage condition. It measures approximately 1 6/8 inches in diameter. It features a sailing ship with flag and banner surrounded by the motto ' Mar Tremen An Heol- E Tremen Ar Breizad'. The motto is presented in French on the reverse: 'Partout ou le Soleil Passe - Le Breton Passe'. In English: 'Wherever the Sun Passes - The Breton Passes'. On the front are hearts, anchors, and Celtic spirals. Is is marked and signed. The reverse has the French translation, R.Y. Creston (the designer/artist's signature), Kelt (the manufacturer), and a hallmark of a triangle with the initials S and B. The pin mechanism is a very secure. It has a trombone closure.
