Beautiful Bone China 24 x Piece Tea Service, from Minton's renowned Haddon Hall Green series, designed by John Wadsworth.
Thomas Minton founded his pottery circa 1793, in Stoke-on-Trent, England, the heart of The Potteries. Herbert, his son, succeeded his father as head of the company and was responsible for the development and reputation of the firm. In 1892, Minton's began production of bone china, influenced by the French 'Sevres' And the rest is history!
The Tea Service consists of 2.25 pint capacity teapot; 6 x teacups; 6 x saucers; 6 x tea plates; cake plate, sugar bowl; milk jug, sandwich plate and lidded preserve pot.
The classic and exotic floral design of all pieces is based on the wonderful tapestries which hang at Haddon Hall, the stunning English Tudor house, situated in the beautiful Peak District National Park in Derbyshire. The handles and scalloped rims of the cups and milk jug; the scalloped edges of the saucers and plates; and the handle and rim of the teapot and exquisite teapot lid are finished in Apple Green trim. Lovely gentle fluting to the body of the teapot, cups, milk jug and sugar bowl
All pieces are in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. They are marked as 2nd grade. for no obvious reason.
All back stamps carry the Haddon Hall / MINTON backstamp.
The teacups measure 2.2"/5.3cms high and 3.5"/9cms in diameter. The saucers measure 5.75"/14.5cms in diameter and the plates 6.25"16cms.
