Up for auction is a nice 3/4 groove axe found on the Eastern Shore of Maryland by Ronnie Clough (Queen Annes and Caroline County/Greensboro Area). Ex: Clough Collection. This piece was anciently damaged and reworked. The piece measures 5 1/4" long. Classic worm tracks (quartz inclusions) through the material. Impressive piece with a nice deep groove.
I will be listing many artifacts from the collection of Ronnie Clough of Eastern Maryland. Mr. Clough hunted the Eastern Shore of Maryland (mainly Chesapeake Bay side) in various counties including Queen Annes and Caroline counties. He hunted 11 main sites, 7 of which were in the Greensboro Maryland area around the tributaries of the Choptank River. Mr. Clough recalls hunting artifacts with his brother when he was 17 years old. This collection has been documented extensively with photos of the material from his collection. This documentation will be available in the future. These fine Maryland artifacts will be available in the upcoming weeks. Maryland artifacts seldom become available--here is a great chance to own some quality piece.
