A LOVELY ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN THREE BOTTLE, CARVED OAK TANTALUS WITH KEY CIRCA 1900.
In excellent condition with a really great original colour and patina, it measures approx 14 1/2” wide, just over 5 1/4” deep & stands 14 3/4” tall with the handle. It opens & closes perfectly, so is ready to use or just display.
The decanters are very good quality and in superb condition , but please note one has a small chip to the neck & the bottom of one of the stoppers is also nibbled- see pictures. Totally hand made hand blown glass & bespoke , down to the decanters being slightly different sizes so each decanter has it’s own stopper none of which are interchangeable. The cartouche below the handle is engraved with the initials “M.R.” So a perfect gift for someone with the right name and the carving is also a lovely feature lifting this tantalus way above the norm.
Great to find a Tantalus in such good original untouched condition, it would make a wonderful gift idea. Please remember this is well over one hundred years old now, so will have tiny marks , scratches etc & light wear to the silver plating.
