Seller: clockbuster (663) 100%, Location: Sheffield, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 264142852903 LENZKIRCH VIENNA REGULATOR WALL CLOCK Click images to enlarge Description I have to confess in being biased towards this clock as I had its twin in my collection for about 15 years and my wife rebuked me when I sold it so it is very nice to own another example and to be able to enjoy it for a while. Although I am a strong advocate for Austrian clocks over German factory clocks there were certain examples made that really are exceptional and totally deserve the term "regulator" and the clock is one of them. It was made by the famous Lenzkirch Company from the Black Forest area of Germany who,in my view, were the foremost of all the German makers and constantly produced outstanding clocks although they were two or three times the price of their competitors when new. This model (number 26 in their catalogue) was amongst the very best clocks they made and was a very accurate timekeeper. A mentioned earlier this clock would have been a small fortune when new and are difficult clocks to find today, particularly in such original order Subsequently they are rare items and I have spent almost 30 years driving all over Europe to source these clocks, particularly the finer examples with originality being a paramount requirement. Unfortunately there are too many people selling modern reproductions to customers. I offer a full money back guarantee as to the authenticity of my Vienna clocks.I also welcome any expert appraisal whatsoever. Obviously, any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase As you can see from the photographs this is a beautiful slim clock having been veneered in well figured walnut which is booked match to produce lovely patterns of timber Interestingly,as a sign of quality, the insides of the case are also veneered in walnut as are the glazed sides. The backboard itself is magnificent. Unusually the original carved pediment is present. Where this particular excels is that the original finish is present and the patina is superb. For my tastes the clock is in lovely condition. It has been carefully cleaned and waxed to preserve the clocks originality. There is ,of course, the odd age related mark as you would expect on any item of this age but the condition is a good as anyone could possibly expect. The only area worth comment is that the bottom finials have been replaced but old ones have been used and do not detract at all. There is no woodworm and the front glass is original If you like the images of the clock you will love it when you see it. The 8 day duration weight driven movement is made to the highest possible standards with dead beat escapement with adjustable pallets. The wheels are 5 spoke and there is sweep seconds.Even the crutch slot is adjustable and the pulley pivot has an oil sink! Make no mistake, the quality of this movement is outstanding and twice the size of a "normal" timepiece movement. These clocks are very accurate indeed and of of regulator standard. The seconds beat pendulum rod is wood with a massive lead filled brass case bob ,The clock functions perfectly. The 10 inch 2 piece porcelain dial is in excellent condition and the pierced steel hands are original. Hopefully the images will show show interested parties all they need to see but my photographic skills are very limited and this clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks very impressive on the wall.Prospective buyers are encouraged to view this clock if at at possible The clock is large but slim clock being 76 inches in length and 17 1/2 at its widest point. The trunk is only 14 inches wide .
