Please take a look at some of the other great tiles I have on eBay this week - they include further Copeland, Minton, Wedgwood and more. This is another simply great tile from one of the best sets ever produced by a late 19th Century British manufacturer - the Shakespeare set by Copeland! The decoration is hand painted over a printed outline using the high quality body which was used consistently by Copeland. It comes from 1878 and has an absolutely great illustration from Henry VI Part 1 showing Talbot and the Countess of Auvergne... who plotted to capture him... there is also the matter of a (not too small) army. The atmosphere is fabulous and both Talbot's and the Countess's costumes are simply wonderful - the soldiers are both well armed and well armoured and the tile is clearly titled. The tile is a great canvas at 8 inches (20 cms) square and provides a super image which remains partly gilded. The tile has a typical Copeland combed back with a clearly impressed COPELAND and the year mark for 1878. There is evidence to the reverse side edges that the tile has been mounted in, and removed from, something. This damage is only to the reverse does not affect the face of the tile which has a chip near the top right corner and some small frits to the right edge - both could be easily framed out. Super and spectacular tile. I pack to an excellent standard and am happy to quote for shipment to any specific destination worldwide. The shipment costs shown are simply what Royal Mail will charge me – I do not charge for the first rate packing materials that I use nor the charge that eBay levies on my shipment cost.
